Dental offices throughout the country are changing to include dental care beyond what the patient can potentially afford as in dental implants that are becoming popular when the teeth are extracted and need to be replaced by another method than dentures. The introduction to this office by a Groupon limited the dental care I received until the next cleaning which we paid first in full that allowed us a more comprehensive exam and prophy that brought to light a LONG list of DENTAL issues not uncovered in the Groupon visit. And when I asked about the difference, SAM, the hygienist, copped an attitude and explained why there was a difference between the two appointments. The cheap Groupon price afforded me a cheap exam! Without going into too much detail, I never returned because the trust was lost. There is something amiss in that office between the front office staff and the dental staff that I wasn't going to continue to be subjected to the inner workings of this business. My family loved this dental office since 2012, however, the very rude and unprofessional hygienist Sam has us leaving to find a new place.

I've been coming here for the last two years. Complete night and day each time I visit. I had one filling done last year and ended up with a black and blue face. This is not normal. I tried to give them another chance and came back for additional fillings. No issues with the initial procedure. Months later however, I have pain in these areas that I never had before. Went back a few months ago for a cleaning. Was then told they need to take out all of my wisdom teeth. (Mind you I'm almost 30 and every dentist I've seen has stated they are far enough back and have come in straight that I would never have to get them out). Was also told I need multiple crowns. I don't understand how a difference of 6 months I need all of this work now? Clearly after the insurance money. Only good thing is the Staff in the reception are always nice and helpful. I was referred to this dentist by my health insurance company. I am very happy with this dentist office and I'm very happy with the care I have received so far from Dr. Patrick Petrillo. Dr. Patrick Petrillo will make sure you are very comfortable before working on your teeth. I have a mild case of Cerebral Palsy and feel very welcomed in this dental office. The staff are all very friendly. I'm glad I found such a great dentist. I highly recommend this dentist he is great. read more

LIKE A HORROR MOVIE! They will upsell you...you will have cavities you don't have and every filling will need replaced, you will need a sleep study and be pressured very hard. But none of that is the worst. Please, please, please don't give them any of your bank account information. I had a crown done. It was terrible and painful because I wasn't numb enough. The woman at billing giggled as she told me I wouldn't get my permanent crown if I didn't pay them the "final" amount. I paid. Less than a month later they automatically withdrew over $700 from my bank account for "insurance payments" while insurance did not grant them even close to that much. I begged them to reconsider because I couldn't pay my rent or buy my insulin. They didn't care. Now those psychopaths are trying to get me to schedule a cleaning with them??? How can I even think about my cleanings while I'm trying to prevent a diabetic coma. Please don't sign anything or give them access to any card. They don't care about anything but your money. This place has made it clear that they only want your money. They never filed my claims to insurance after I showed them my card. Everytime I showed them my card they just said "you're good", and when I cancelled my appointment because I found a much better dentist, they said I now owe them $320. I never got a bill in the mail until I asked them to mail me one, they never told me I owed money upfront, and when I checked the insurance website they never submitted my bill to them! But they now want me to pay out of my pocket immediately. They never told me they're not a participating dentist either I had to find out for myself. I even reported the business to BBB and they still have yet to respond. I will never go here again. read more

I scheduled it through my delta dental website. I left them 2 voice-mail in February and one in March with my information, so they can call me back. My appointment was on 03/12/22 morning. I went to their office and it was closed. I didn't receive any call or voicemail letting me know that they have canceled my apt. They called me today 03/14 to let me know that they tried to contact me and they couldn't -.- they apologized and rescheduled it for today at 4.40 pm. A couple of minutes later someone called me and told me that they made a mistake and the appointment is at 2 pm. And they have been calling the wrong phone number (that was the reason they couldn't contact me before, I don't even know why this happened if I left my phone number in my form, and my 3 voicemails before). Why would I go to a place where they have a poor administrative organization with new patients. I told her to cancel the appointment. I visited this dentist in 2018 because I did not have insurance at the time and needed a cleaning. They offered a Groupon that was enticing. STAY AWAY! While the cleaning was thorough and comprehensive, they claimed I had 8 cavities. I never had a cavity before, so I was shocked. The office manager sat me down to go over their plan and chatted me up while being super fake and friendly. They wanted $4500 to take care of my "cavities" and tried pushing me into setting up a dental payment plan. Thankfully, I did not go through with the plan. We are now in 2019 and I have dental insurance and went back to my regular dentist to find out I do not have a single cavity! HORRIBLE, MONEY SUCKING, LIARS! read more

Sam is the best hygienist I've had!  She's really detailed with the cleaning, has a lot of care in what she does, and she's really relatable / easy to talk to.  I've been a client of Smile Designs for several years now, and Sam has been my hygienist for my last few cleanings.  Dr. Pat is a great dentist and I've recently switched to him after Dr. K. After 25 years of exceptional dental care under Dr. Michael Petrillo & his expertly trained staff, I found a new dentist. Michael doesn't work here anymore. My last 5 years with the shabby, worn down Smile Design were hell. I found a dentist that does not shift me from room to room, but actually stays with me until the procedure is complete. From a cleanliness POV I know where those hands have been. His replacement, Dr. Pat's dentistry will cost thousands to repair. Informed of a serious complication concerning my last crown ... Dr. Pat laughed in my face. In less than a year the crown fell out. Following my last cleaning and exam I was sequestered in a dark room and harassed and questioned like a criminal. I wondered if i was about to be assulted one way or another. That was after the staff shifted me from room to room at least 4 times for a simple visit, stationed a guard in my room, communicated by Bluetooth and radio my every word to Linda, hiding in her office and basically treated me like a criminal. Things are falling apart at Smile Designs. My new dentist shows me that dental care can be done efficiently and in a manner that makes the patient feel safe and confident. Before I continue with my scathing review of my experience today, I do want to acknowledge the friendly and professional hygienist Leah at this office that has been cleaning my teeth for over a decade. It's unfortunate that, after having been a patient for over ten years, I won't be returning. Throughout this pandemic, I have faithfully abided by mask requirements. Last week, in fact, I had a doctor's appointment, and the appointment reminders via text explicitly requested that patients wear masks when entering the office. Not a problem. Dr. Petrillo's office sent multiple text reminders about my appointment, as well as a link to a Covid wellness survey, but nowhere in these messages was the request to wear a mask. There also was no such sign on the door (I checked when I left). However, once I got permission to go into the office (via another text) I took a mask with me "just in case". Sure enough, the receptionist came back from behind her desk to ask me if I had a mask to wear. That made me feel a little like an idiot, but what infuriated me more was the fact that the Dr. Petrillo's son (not even sure what his actual role is in the practice), was standing behind the receptionist's desk, mask down to his chin, either picking something out of his teeth or biting his nails! Seriously!? Even pre-pandemic, that wouldn't have been something someone would want to see when walking into a dentist's office. But I was the health concern?! I sat in the waiting area to be called, and the entire time, he walked around with his mask down. The arrogance to not practice what you're clearly requiring of your patients and workers just totally rubbed me the wrong way. After I told the scheduler (who somehow tried to defend the son by saying "he's not a health care provider") that I would not be returning to the practice, she walked me to the receptionist to check me out. Lo and behold...a patient in the waiting room not wearing a mask! And no one said anything to him. Again, I've put up with the revolving door of dentists (I don't believe Dr. Petrillo himself actually practices any more) and their periodic sales pitches for Invisalign and other extras because I like Leah, but one person alone can no longer keep me coming back to this dentist. If any other dentists out there are ever in need of a competent and friendly hygienist, they should seek Leah out. Anyone out there looking for a dentist, I'll let you know if the next one I find is any better! read more

Beware. After having all of my silver fillings replaced with white fillings by dr. Petrillo, I had nothing but pain and sensitivity. After several visits back to get a "tune up" as he called it, with no results. A year later I go to a new dentist who could not believe how poorly these fillings were done. All had to be filed and shaped. Had extreme sensitivity and pain due to the poor work of this dentist. Beware. Go to a real dentist that knows what they r doing!! read more

2 stars for friendliness of staff, no stars for quality of work. Much like a previous review states, I had silver fillings replaced with white and now suffer from extreme sensitivity. I came back to the office for a re-check and was offered no reasoning behind my pain except insinuation that maybe my Invisalign was causing aching as well as that my inital cavity had been deep, so maybe I'd need to see a root canal specialist. Been with Dr. Petrillo and his team for over 27 years solid. This is not just a dental office, this is THE office with a crew that really cares. With their continued care, guidance and direction, I have all darn great choppers! I never neglect their instructions and every six months they tell me they know I take care of my teeth. They treat patients like family-no doubt whatsoever. Kim and the up front gang will answer your calls and greet you when you arrive in an utmost professional manner. Really! It was with great sadness that my longstanding hygienist had to leave the practice as I miss her very much. But in to fill her shoes-Samantha/Sam! It is almost as she is an extension of my previous hygienist. Both with excellent personalities; very professional, courteous and personable to their patients. Sam made her transition soooo smoothly and seeks to question my entire dental history (and yours) for further knowledge. What a concept! YOUR health is important to HER. Sam may sometimes have you laughing in the chair with conversation (that you obviously cannot respond to while having a mouthful of several fingers and maybe a thumb or two grasping dental apparatus.) This is part of her makeup which makes for a fantastic character. Funny, yet professional. She is so awesome as well as the rest of the office family. Many other patients feel the same. What an asset! If one reads this posts and is looking for some or much needed dental work then I suggest you call them and TELL THEM BILL SENT YOU! Why wait and hesitate which will lead you to procrastinate? The entire crew know me all too well. Uncertain if you will have Sam as your tooth fairy, however, I am sure she can be requested periodically. If you drive and arrive for an appointment you must make sure to see Sam to say hello. She will greet you with open arms-but no hugs at this time due to this ugly thing hovering over us for the time being, so please mask up when entering. A while back, I switched dentists and chose Dr. Petrillo's practice. I chose to have a full dental work up performed to prepare for Invisalign and eventually porcelain veneers. I needed a lot of work including some pretty delicate reconstruction. My entire experience thus far has been unbelievably positive in all areas. Every staff member looks, acts, and practices with the utmost professionalism; everyone there knows me AND my wife by name (and she isn't even a patient). For the first time in my life, I look forward to upcoming appointments, knowing that I will be treated with respect and with the best possible care. I arrived 10 minutes ahead of my scheduled appointment. While the dentist was drilling, the assistant told him the patient after me needed to be done on time. After finishing the drilling and completing half the filling the dentist and assistant both left with me in the chair. He said "I'll be right back." 35 minutes later the assistant came back and said "he's almost done with the other patient and will be right in." At 45 minutes he returned and began working only to discover the novacaine had stopped working...ouch. After waiting for the novacaine to kick in he finished my work. The front end staff offered me a coffee mug filled with candy for my troubles. Not interested. This was the most unprofessional thing I have ever experienced from a professional. As a registered nurse, I know what good patient care should look like. This is not it. Do yourself a favor and choose a different dental practice. read more

I have been going to Lehigh Valley Smile Designs for more than a decade. As soon as I walk in the door, I am greeted by name, with a friendly smile. Because of this, I have not ever felt any anxiety or discomfort as I have at other dentists offices. I have received care from two different hygienists, both knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and understanding. When I lost my job recently, instead of accepting a different dentist free of charge via county assistance, I chose to sign up for Lehigh Valley Smile Design's fair payment plan because I did not want to go to any other office or see any other staff or dentist besides everyone at LVSD. I am giving Dr. Petrillo and his practice one star because I can't give crosses, as in May God help you. Due to the horrible work he has done I have lost a front tooth. He put a crown on my front tooth, which some years later got loose. It had an infiltration that caused a cavity, and needed to be extracted. I also have had two surgeries in my gum as a result of Dr. Petrillos's work. The office staff is friendly while you are a patient. Try asking them for your X-ray once you tell them that you might have to go somewhere else. read more
