Absolutely Outstanding Experience! We contacted Michael & Marion's to host my son and now daughter-in-law's wedding, as we've always loved both the food and service there. From start to finish, it was hands-down the best choice we could have made. Kent, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to deal with -- professional, accommodating, and completely transparent. He clearly outlined what was available and what to expect, with no hidden costs or "nickel and diming." When it looked like our ceremony venue might fall through, he even offered us the restaurant space as a backup, which was such a thoughtful gesture (thankfully, we didn't need it -- but the offer said everything about their level of care). We met with Kent twice and Jade once, and the process felt almost too easy -- so informal and effortless that I thought it might be too good to be true. But it wasn't. When we arrived on the big day, everything was exactly as promised -- and even better than I had imagined. Throughout the evening, Jade and the entire team were incredible. They were attentive, professional, and seemed to anticipate every need before we even had to ask. I never once felt like I had to manage a thing. The food was phenomenal, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend Michael & Marion's for any event or special occasion. The food was good for the most part and the ambiance (we ate at the bar) perfect! Had such an enjoyable dinner. Barmaid Cheyenne was lovely and fun and really knows her trade. I had the chicken fettuccine, very good, with a yummy white sauce and hubby had the Yakitori chicken, not the best dish. We also had the shrimp and egg rolls appetizer. Those were good. Our third visit here and although the last was in 2019, nothing has changed. If you haven't eaten here yet you are missing a reward to your palate! The food...amazing! The ambience...perfect. The service...outstanding. Value for money...spot on. If I have one complaint it's that our server accused me of cleaning my plate with my finger. I DID NOT! I licked it clean! "Casually Exquisite" is a Motto I would use to describe this place of high quality food and service. While it would have been nice to sample one of their many delicious appetizers, their house salad I began with was fresh and aromatic; awakening my pallet, My main course was a fresh breast of roast chicken stuffed with Chorizo sausage and goats cheese wrapped in bacon and finished with Chimichurri sauce; one word...two syllables describes this dish.......Yummy!!! I didn't breath while eating this dish. Two days later and I am craving their Chimichurri sauce.....no joke. If you like to challenge your palate this is the place to do so! Great place for small group , ambience is nice and comfortable. The waitress let us carry on our conversation as long as we want after dinner, it was nice to get together with old friends and catch up on news. Will come back again if I get a chance. I gave four stars because there is no view from this small restaurant , the beautiful lake is only couple blocks away. read more

We went to The Side Door to celebrate our anniversary and were treated to a complimentary glass of champagne. A very nice touch. The bread with the tapenade, olive oil with balsamic and humus was a tasty starter We had the Brie wrapped in phyllo for an appetizer and it was especially good. For an entrée we had the pork tenderloin which was served with a good selection of veggies and fingerling potatoes. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. My observation of others was that they were all very pleased. When the service and food is this good , we will definitely go again. read more

Since moving to Barrie, I've heard nothing but good things about Michael & Marions. It seems like it's everyone's favourite spot for a special occasion. Our server was great all night. She was helpful with suggestions and honest with any questions we had. We started with fried halloumi (good) and tuna sliders (ok, but a bit lean on the tuna). There wasn't a cocktail list, so we had a bottle of wine. For our mains, I had the braised shortrib (ok) and my girlfriend had squash risotto with scallops (good). I had the good fortune of being able to eat the risotto leftovers and it was quite a lot better than my shortribs -- something to keep in mind for next time. Our visit was definitely good, but it didn't quite live up to the M&M mythology. I'll definitely go back, and I suspect that I'll enjoy it more on the second trip. read more

Went there for barrielicious. I had the flank steak and my wife had the red snapper. Both were well presented and delicious. Service was excellent and they had a full house. I enjoyed the atmosphere. We ordered dinner for two Friday evening (Aug. 28/20), coconut tiger shrimp, Thai spring rolls, Togarashi crushed Ahi tuna, and steamed seafood bowl. Went to this restaurant and been there a couple of times before and not so bad. this time it took the cake. Went in for a few drinks and appetizers and probably dinner. We noticed it was busy, since its the holiday season. We asked the bartender if it was a private party. She said no and we could sit. Wrong! It was loud and busy, and then after we ordered we were told to sit in the corner by the exit and stairs. We asked the waitress if we could finish eating and our drinks, only to find out another party was coming in, after the first party. Not how you treat your customers! You knew you were having a party and told us to spend our money anyway, without the ambiance and descent service. No one wants to sit in a corner and listen to LOUD people screaming while your eating. I would not recommend this to anyone, xmas party or no party. My partner and I booked the entire restaurant on a Sunday for our wedding reception. We found the staff to be very friendly, professional and efficient. The appetizers served in the bar area were incredible and gained rave reviews from our guests. Once seated, the server used the place cards to address each guest by their name. This was a nice touch as we had wanted an intimate feel to our wedding. The guests reported they thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and steak, although two guests did not like the tuna entrée. We absolutely loved when they spelt out "congrats" in fudge and caramel on the large dessert plate I shared with my partner. The toffee apple cheesecake was incredible, which is surprising as I do not like cheesecake. They even packed an extra piece for us to take home! read more
