We had dinner at the Twisted Fork in Mount Albert last night. What a great place. It is so small looking from the outside that we almost missed it. Last night's special was a roast beef dinner, with mashed potatoes and vegetables and the biggest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. It was so delicious and only $19.00. The waitress took our 5 orders without writing down the differences and delivered each one without errors. The waitress was so amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. Too busy for the servers. We dropped in for lunch today. Our starters ( soup & salad) were forgotten about and left on the side counter until the waitress arrived with our mains. The waitress then casually places the cold soup at our table. When asked if the soup was warm, the waitress curtly replies 'should be'. No apologies whatsoever and in a hurry to get away from the table as soon as she could. No accountability, very curt and very poor customer service. Never going back there again for sure! read more

When I went about 2 weeks ago, there were flies flying around, trying to land on our food.. Alongside this, we were brought two meals that were not what we ordered, no big deal but the food was subpar at best.. Not to mention that it was extremely hot in the restaurant, with an interesting smell. There also seemed to be only one waitress working for the entire restaurant. My boyfriend had come to this restaurant with his daughter and had a great experience so he wanted to bring me here. The second time was not so positive. Our server was Rebecca (according to the bill - she did not introduced herself) . She was cold and unfriendly and looked pained when we would ask for something and in fact she made faces when I asked her a question. Although we came at 10 am, we felt more like lunch food (we had wanted the roast beef sandwich) but she was clear that while we could look at the lunch menu lunch would not be served until 11:30 am. We ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict with home fries and fruit salad ($17). The fruit salad came in a tiny cup but was made of finely minced real fruit (not canned) which was nice. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the home fries were good. I asked for an extra hot cappuccino. Her response was "I'll see what I can do. It's a machine". She then brought me the smallest lukewarm cappuccino (mostly foam) that I have ever seen. Not worth the $4 price tag! When I asked for hot sauce, Rebecca brought me a little cupful of hot sauce. She did not mention that there was a cost of $1 for the hot sauce. I have never been charged for hot sauce at any restaurant. If you are going to charge for a condiment, you really should tell the customer in advance. Although the food was good and the patio was nice, the unfriendly service and upcharges for hot sauce does not make this restaurant worth the drive to Mount Albert. read more

We went for a late brunch on a Sunday. Our server recommended the beef sandwich, it was enormous. I ended up leaving the bun and just eating the middle, the plate was also overloaded with fries - come hungry! I had a bite of my BF's eggs Benedict and it was really delicious, although the fruit salad was a joke better portioned for a garden gnome. Sunday Funday (large) Caesar's for $5!! The $9 mimosas seemed a little steep in contrast (which our server seemed fully aware of so I'm assuming she hears that often.) Lucky us, it was one of our parties bday so our server brought the table a warm cookie with icing which was even better than it sounds. We'll be back. read more

Came here after visiting Brooks Farm. The place is spacious and clean.great for family. We ordered turkey soup, chicken quesadilla, third rack ribs, and kids meal meatball spaghetti. Overall the food are great, comparable to more expensive restaurants. The turkey soup is tasty, but a little too strong on the thyme and herbs. Quesadillas are crispy and ribs are tender. We chose sautéed vegetables for the sides. To our surprise, the vegetables are the highlights of the meal. A good mixed of fresh vegetables like zucchinis, peppers, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, beans, sprouts, etc. All cooked perfectly. I am glad we didn't choose the fries. For the kids meal, the spaghetti sauce taste good, but the meatballs are rock hard and dry. Service is good. Will definitely come back of I am in the area. read more

On arrival didn't look very impressive not a lot of parking. Once inside the place looked great nice ambience. We chose to sit on the patio. Again not very impressed weeds throughout and not very well kept. Our company arrived 15 mins later and the whole time we were never greeted or given menus or asked for drinks. The waitress was out to serve the table next to us multiple times and did not acknowledge us once. After 25 mins without even a hello we got up and left. Awful! read more

I came here Tuesday for lunch and decided to order their chicken wings since it was half price chicken wing day. I got eight wings and sweet potato fries. The fries were really good, crisp and flavourful. The wings were huge. Gigantic. Great value for money (especially on Tuesdays). However, the wings were severely lacking in seasoning. I'm not talking about the coating of sauce, I'm talking about the meat itself. Once I bit through the saucy exterior, the fleshy interior was just bland. So bland. I had to salt these babies. I have never in my life had to salt chicken wings in a restaurant. Usually they're salt bombs (so you'll order more beer, natch). These people need to brine these wings. Do something to get some salt into the interior. It was certainly a shame because these wings could have been topnotch. The service, on the other hand, was exceptional. There was one woman taking care of the entire dining room and she was doing so flawlessly. She was super friendly. Her pacing was spot on. Not a single complaint there. read more

Twisted Fork is hidden off of the main streets of Mount Albert. It looks a lot like a small town dinner resto, with a focus on slightly finer dining. It pulls it off well- homey, not pretentious, but still a little elegant. I had the Shrimp Fettucini, which is a good measure of how generous a place is with the protein. This dish came with 5 rather large, perfectly cooked shrimp. The pasta was also well done. There are a few other menu options, including breakfasts and deserts. FINE DINING finally comes to Mount Albert! We have lived in Mount Albert for 8 years (moved from Markham), and have missed having a fine restaurant nearby. That all changed when the Thompson family took over the diner and change the décor, and more importantly the menu. The Twisted Fork has become our regular date night out, We decided to have our company Christmas party there in December 2014 with our large group of fussy Toronto based team. They all raved about the food, the service and décor (and were surprised we had this quality in our small town and were able to accommodate a private event on a busy Saturday night. I also like how they have brought local Ontario wineries and craft breweries to their menu for a nice change (paired with food if you ask!). Check it out...you won't be disappointed. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the Twisted Fork restaurant in Mount Albert twice this week. This is a small gem of a restaurant tucked away in a quaint little village. Our first visit was with a group of six ladies including one child. The menu was interesting and quite varied... And they even had a children's menu that would suit any picky eater. Our group ordered everything from chicken wings to chicken quesadillas, pulled pork sandwich, cilantro lime wrap and an entrée of pan seared basa.  Pricing was a very reasonable and when our orders were delivered to the table we were all quite pleased! Even the child's breaded chicken strips were great. My second visit was for lunch the very next day. Because the menu is so varied, it was a treat to go again. We were encouraged to try the freshly made sweet potato soup, and we were not disappointed! It was hot and thick and creamy with a glaze accent of balsamic reduction. We followed this with the chicken quesadillas and one of their signature homemade hamburgers, including wonderful fries. Along with their interesting varied menu they offer weekly specials every night of the week from pasta to burgers, wings, muscles, ribs and even liver and onions! I have been to this restaurant once, The food was fairly good! I did enjoy it, however this is a case where the service doesn't match the food experience. Our server seemed very unimpressed go be there, and I actually heard her complain about how many people were in the restaurant (Sunday at brunch). Once we got our food, we didn't even hear from our server again. She didn't acknowledge us at all. I actually had to approach her to just get our bill! I understand that people have bad days, and work is not something everyone likes to do, but when you're representing a company/ restaurant, you have to at least pretend that you enjoy it! read more

Awesome, almost unexpectedly fine restaurant. The appetizers are great, the bruschetta is crunchy and flavourful and the wings are large and saucy. I really enjoy their sandwiches and wraps and the homemade Caesar salad with BBQ chicken is well presented and so tasty. Definitely recommended. read more

The food here is really great, a tad on the expensive side. However, the chefs literally make everything by hand...the sauces, burgers, fries, battered items, etc. There are no frozen or pre-cooked items. They also offer gluten free options. Great selection of drinks. There are weekly specials for each day which they post on their Facebook page, so if you can score the right meal on the right day, the prices are affordable. read more

This is a place I really wanted to try given what I had heard! Four of us had dinner there on Sunday evening. Even though we had made reservations, the restaurant was not busy (understandably so for a Sunday). We started with Crab cakes and the presentation and taste of the crab cakes was great. We were hoping this was a sign of what was to come with the main dishes. Unfortunately, all the meals were lack luster taste wise. One of the party had the liver and onions special and the liver, for the most part was pretty tough. The beef dip sandwich was tough as well and the gravy or Jus tasted almost out of a package. The Cliantro wrap was okay but certainly not memorable and my Spicy Penne with sausage was supposed to be in a Tomato Vodka Cream sauce. Instead it seemed very tomato-eee, lumpy and I am not sure there was any cream to be found. All the vegetables were done just right and the service from Lindsay was great. Nice young woman and very attentive. Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. read more
