What an amazing experience! We've been here a few times just to enjoy the scenery and a bottle of wine, we've been here for lunch, and the overall atmosphere is just fantastic. But then we decided to have our parents 50th anniversary here and it was absolutely fantastic! The staff, including Haley, bent over backwards to make sure that everything was done right! I've only been here twice, but both times I had the time of my life I know people complain about the wine prices, but if you went out and ordered a $15 novelty weak cocktail you would need at least 2 to even catch a light buzz. 1 bottle of wine is around $30 and you'd be feeling really toasty if you were able to even drink the whole bottle. That seems like a good value to me ‍ The food is fresh and good. Its kind of nice ordering and paying at a counter..you don't have to worry about slow service or waiting on wait staff. After Nicholas, a new employee. recommended this Winery, we have become regulars. Where do I begin? The food --- my wife is Glutin Free so we tried the GF Tortellini with Vodka Sauce which is the BEST Pasta anywhere! The tortellini are huge and the sauce creamy and spicy. The other foods - Asparagus & Fall Salads, Brussel Sprouts, Calamari, Chicken, Eggplant are ALL delicious. Love the huge Chicken Breasts with the hot, spicy sauce. To top it all off, their Bakery and Coffees are the BOMB. I always get the Wine Flight and love their Pino, Sangiovese & Chardonnay wines. Going to keep this short and sweet. I enjoy the wine, food, and the aesthetics are fantastic. That's where my love for this place ends. Poorly executed ordering for wine and food. Waited 20" in line just to order some wine. How is this remotely okay? Either they don't hire enough people or they need to find a better flow for the ordering process. First, the food here is good. The building is beautiful. The downfall is EVERYTHING else. I have never experienced such a convoluted functional concept as has been installed at Michael Angelo's Winery. Wait in line to order the food. Wait in a different line to order wine. Wait in line again to order dessert. Want a second glass of wine? Guess what? Wait in line again! But their's more! Once you actually find a table, which are as rare as snowmen in the Caribbean, the table is too small to fit all that was ordered, because EVERYTHING comes at one time. You'll be enjoying a cold entree while you eat the appetizer. When a dish is empty, count on being your own busboy, because they too are almost nonexistent. Throughout the meal, you will also be interrupted by other patrons trolling for the impossible table and yet, people keep piling it. This is the inexplicable thing about MAW. Why do people return? Is the lack of tipping such a draw that they will put up with all of these functional flaws? Not for me. If this place decides to turn itself into a real restaurant with actual seaters, servers and bus staff, I'd return. With the current haywire, haphazard and weird way of operating I'll let everyone else put up with the buffoonery that is Michael Angelo's. read more

Along with most of the reviews I'd say the place is just ok. The buildings and grounds are very nice but the wine is so-so and the food can be hit or miss. PLUS for the prices and hastles they could hire some dedicated servers. Especially when you have to order from 2 different lines for wines and food. read more

Fantastic atmosphere in this place! The mixture of outdoor/indoor seating is great especially with the heat lamps for chilly nights. The food was also very good! The Brussels were the favorite for our table, and the pumpkin cupcakes were super moist and spongy. I give this 4 out of 5 because despite being a wine place, there have a very small selection of wine available. All of the 12-ish wines available were dry wines, and I'm a sweet wine drinker myself, so I didn't find any I personally enjoyed. This place was soooo fancy! It's a winery placed in the middle of land. The interior is gorgeous and pleasing, with a modern craftsman style. My favorite part was a relaxed ordering vibe, and the counter with Macarons and cupcakes! The macarons were only a $1.35 so I was able to get all the delicious flavors like birthday cake, champagne, salted caramel, cookies and cream and strawberry. Food came out in no specific order. Chicken tenders were too well done and over fried. Salad dressing is premixed with the dressing way prior to serving which made the lettuce soggy. My first experience at Michael Angelo's is from a fancy fundraiser that I was invited to. I'm not sure how much of my experience was due to the event planners and how much was due to the winery, so I'm throwing it all in together with this review until I can come back another time on my own. We were in the side building for our private party and valet was offered if needed. Coat check was also offered. Nice atmosphere inside with lovely fall decor (but most of this was because the event planners brought in the decor like centerpieces and fabric/flowers for the chairs and fireplace). This would make a great space for an intimate wedding reception. Hors d'oeuvres were brought around: shrimp, bacon wrapped dates, cheese puffs, and two types of wine as well. Food was nice, however you had to chase down the staff to get a bite. I'm sure they were doing their best with this large party. It appeared food was stationed in a tent outside that they had to keep going back and forth to. But walk around the room, don't say in one spot. For the meal we started with a salad, bread, and wine. Salad was nice, but there was supposed to be butter for the bread and it was not found. Main dish was bland white fish with under-cooked Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes with short rib. The latter part of the meal was good otherwise it was a little disappointing. Two wines served with this. Next up was dessert - a chocolate, cream, and berry cake which was lovely although probably too big as no one seemed to be able to finish theirs. No boxes were offered so unfinished cake went to waste. Wine included with dessert and then coffee to finish the night off if you wanted. We got a little box of chocolates to take home as well. We toured the rest of the grounds and it was very busy, but seemed like a nice place to visit. Apparently in the main rooms you have to order your wine at the bar and then order your food at the bakery counter. No table service. Overall we enjoyed our evening at the fundraiser. I am curious to check out this place and see what it is like when I'm just a regular customer. read more

I would like to give it 2.5 stars, but will give the benefit of the doubt by giving 3. Pros: food decent and nice outdoor seating as well as plenty of indoor seating if you prefer. Once food is ordered, it is delivered to table quickly. Cons: unfortunately more cons than pros. Service slow, servers lackluster and almost seem annoyed that you are there. Very confusing process that no one seems to want to explain until you ask. You order wine and wine flights at one counter and food at the bakery. Once ordered and paid for, they deliver to your table. The lines for ordering food is long and having only 1-2 people behind counter is ridiculous. I feel like this could be so much more than it is so hopefully they will improve in service area. The wine is hit or miss. Rose' was poor, but Cabernet was pleasantly tasty. Would I return? Maybe, but would probably have to be persuaded. read more

We stopped in for a tasting and a light lunch. Quick service for a busy day. The food was okay.. we got the Brussels sprouts and short rib sliders. The short rib was quite dry. We tried the Pinot noir, red blend, Syrah and the wildflour cab. We didn't like any of them- not great red wine. The worst part was the terrible service. The ladies working the wine and food part were rude. This place could be great, but they should hire people who want to be there and treat people with the bare amount of respect. Lol. read more

My wife and I decided to visit this winery because of their Harvest Fest event. It was a moderate drive, and when we arrived found not only an enormous multi-building facility, but also an equally spacious parking area. The lot was almost completely filled, but we secured a spot relatively close, and walked into the beautiful double door main entrance. Once inside, we entered a small foyer of gifts and their newest wine offering, "2018 Zinfandel". Beyond it was a large perpendicular wine bar with patrons seated completely around it, to the right their wine library and to the left, the bakery (coffee & desert). The riot of noise that greeted us consisted of people enjoying their food, wine and company. There is dinning room seating beyond the library, and going further will place you in the tank & barrel room and production areas. Going past the bar we found ourselves in a large enclosed courtyard with a central fireplace and multiple movable fire pits tastefully designed to fit seamlessly with the seating decor. Just beyond this space and to the right through the veranda was another large outdoor eating area called the Trellis Lounge with a small corner dedicated to a live music duo. I liked the intimate seating of the indoor patio, while my wife like the outdoor area because it would be perfect for family get togethers and/ or small parties. A short walk past this area brought us to another free-standing building that proved to be a much larger indoor seating area for large parties. A look through its windows gave ample views of the vineyard. The food offered looked good on the special event menu and interesting in the serving trays, but upon eating it was somewhat tasteless. I ordered the (5) baby back ribs for $12, my wife got the smoked brisket poutne for $9, and we shared the crispy Brussel sprouts for $7. A bit disappointing considering the cost and venue. Their wine selection did not really represent Ohio, but rather from a "variety of regions across the country." I saw a number from west coast; California and Washington State to be specific. I did not abide, but my wife had a glass of their chardonnay at $42/ bottle. It wasn't anything special. We would like very much to come back and try their regular menu selections, because the special event buffet food service left much to be desired. 3.5 stars. I really wanted to love this place. I would recommend but I disliked going to the front to order my drinks. I would have ordered more but it was a hassle. I prefer to have a server. I am clumsy (especially while drinking) and we sat on the other side of the courtyard so I had to walk through the packed front, open two different doors and through the cold courtyard with glasses in hand. The side where we sat was cold and had a banquet hall feel. The ambience on the other side of the courtyard near the front entrance is where it's at. We had the wild mushroom pizza and short rib sliders. The sliders were topped with French's fried onions. At a place like this and for the money, I expected homemade. My mom and extended family recently tried out Michael Angelo's Winery. We were all very excited and eager to see what this place had to offer. We ordered a variety of food dishes including pizza, pasta and the daily special. The food was okay, not bad but it didn't make any of us speechless either. We also tried the wine sampler which was nice because everyone at our table got to try something new. We also got some baked goods which were fabulous! My only complaints are with the concept and with the ambience. I wish there could be someone at the door to greet guests and explain the concept (ordering your own food, seat yourself) and the place to order food should be further back (so guest can see what other guests are eating). Our dinner was also ruined by teenagers and small children. No one who is underage should be allowed in a winery. My family and I went for a mature, adult evening, we don't want to eat with children. read more

There seems to be a love/hate thing going on with the reviews for this place. I was genuinely surprised to see an overall 3.5/5 rating for the place so I had to read through to see what people don't like and why. Seems to be 2 broad categories. First, you either like the counter service type setup or you don't. Meaning you have to wait in line to order food, wine, etc. No servers except for the folks dropping off your food. And second, it's too noisy. I can't speak to the first issue. As for the second they recently installed panels all around the room near the top of the ceiling to absorb extra sound. My wife noticed it as she had a hard time hearing people in a party on another recent visit. It made a difference she said as we weren't yelling at each other to talk and we could hear each other just fine. I was at the winery on Saturday for a surprise birthday party and we were in the cellar room. All the food served was buffet style and we were greeted by flatbreads, charcuterie board and a crudete platter. Dinner was a vineyard salad, chicken piccata, penne with blush sauce. We shared a cassata birthday cake with assorted Michael Angelo's pastries. The salad was like a greek salad with a chardonnay vinaigrette. It was delicious. I tried a little bit of everything so I could comment. The chicken was grilled in a delicious lemon butter sauce. The chicken was flavorful, tender and moist. The blush sauce with penne tasted excellent. I could taste the wine that went into making the sauce. Mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery and a little lumpy so you know it was housemade. Of course the pastries are excellent. It's Michael Angelo's pastries. I had a great time. The food was excellent. Service for our party was smooth. Plenty of wine was flowing. Everyone enjoyed our evening. I'll be back. Counter service won't keep me from staying away. I'm a little surprised that's an issue for people because I've been to a lot of wineries in the Geneva area and most of them are set up that way. To each their own I suppose. read more

I've been this place many, many times and it's always been good but tonight...it was terrible. The food was good, as always but the service sucked and you could tell there was no serious management there because normally this place has excellent service. To begin with it took me almost 10 minutes to get a glass of wine because the guy behind the counter was hitting on the 2 girls that got served in front of me. After that we ordered salad and a pizza. The server just threw the salad down on the table and left before we could ask for an extra plate and silverware. The young guy that brought the pizza was way more attentive. After the meal we went to get dessert. We ordered 1 cupcake and one cookie. 15 minutes later my wife was still waiting at the counter for her order. When she asked for the manager and someone came out he didn't really seem to care. He told her they were just busy. My wife asked why they were wrapping silverware instead of filling orders and why wouldn't anyone answer her where she asked about her order. He had no answer. I live literally across the street from this place but I would never go back nor would I recommend it to anyone. read more

Came here with my wife recently for an early birthday celebration for her. We had been here before, but it was a while ago. One thing I recall from last time was a small parking lot, which I'm glad to see has been enlarged. The exterior here is gorgeous, similar to a lot of the wineries you'll see around Geneva. Inside, its very loud, must be a part of the design, just not something that appeals to me. All the food and drinks are ordered at the bar, which is nice, but a bit of a pain when it is busy, especially while trying to maintain distancing. The wine is fine, but I think a bit overpriced. I am all for supporting local business, but I can get better quality wine at half the price at the local wine store. My wife and I split a flight and each of us preferred the Rose. The thing that brought this an extra star is the food, which is outstanding. We split a charcuterie and a pizza. I was a big fan of the charcuterie including fresh bread, and roasted garlic. It could have used a little more cheese, but had enough items overall to make it sufficient. Our pizza was very unique, including muenster, brussels sprouts, and bacon. I wasn't sure about the combination, but I enjoy each component separately, and enjoyed them all combined as well. The wine I'd give 3 stars, the food I'd give 5 starts, so I'll meet in the middle and give it a 4. The food is great, the wine is fine, but overall a little to pricey to be a regular stop of ours. read more

I tried Michael Angelo's for the first time and really enjoyed it! We went on lunch which was smart considering I've heard it gets very busy on nights and weekends. I'm glad I got to go when it was pretty empty. I got the Rigatoni A La Vodka and it was delicious! The dishes here serve 2-4 so you can either share or take 1-2 meals home which I love. The self-service is interesting - I wish it was a little more apparent. I also tried the red velvet cupcake and that was amazing. Made reservations for a party of six at noon today. Our table was ready and everyone was very kind. We were doing a book club meeting. The food was outstanding. Very fresh and plenty to share as their menu depicts. Calamari and the sauce is ymmmmm. Does not have breading on it! You can split their pizzas with two different toppings. Giving this a 4 star review cause this is our second time back. We got the Margherita pizza again sooo good. We tried the shirt rib fettuccine again cause the last time we had enjoyed it. This time around we were gravely disappointed it came out cold to our table. We sent it back and they asked if wanted it reheated. We asked if could have it remade. I'm pretty positive they had brought out the same dish from the beginning was tad bit better. But lukewarm and short rib was tad rubbery. Could tell it had been reheated. I was a little hesitant to try this because of the critical reviews about being crowded and having no table service, etc. but decided to give it a shot. I've now been back 3 times in 2.5 weeks so I guess I think it's worth the trip! First, the critical reviews re: crowded-ness aren't wrong. It is insanely crowded on weekends. It's a huge space but our group had to scout the place for a while before we snagged a table. They don't take reservations for groups under 10 or we would have done that. Luckily one of the workers was so sweet and helped us snag a table as soon as she saw it open up. I wish it was a little better sound-proofed in there; the noise level made it almost impossible to hear from one end of our small table to the other. As for the complaints about no table service, I guess that's a personal preference and if you know what you're in for, I actually kind of preferred it. It makes it more of a relaxed experience and you don't have a server pushing you along as is sometimes the case with a sit down meal. You can go at your own pace and stay for as little or long as you like. Everyone can go up and order when they're ready for their next glass or bite. You can come just for a glass of wine, a dessert, or a full meal and feel equally comfortable sitting anywhere rather than feeling guilty for taking up a server's table just for one drink. I guess what I'm saying is for me, it's part of the appeal and actually adds to the experience rather than detracting from it. Anyway, on to the food and drink! 2016 Chardonnay and the Iris Pinot Noir were my favorites of the wines. Love that they do flights so you can sample a few. For food, we got the gnocchi, two orders of the mushroom balls, calamari, and one of the pizzas. They were all amazing! We shared everything across our group of 7 and it was just enough food. On a previous trip my husband and I also split the Napoleon dessert and weren't impressed but we'd never had one before so maybe napoleons just aren't our thing. With the success of their bakery, and how tempting everything else in the dessert case looks, I'd definitely still try the other desserts without hesitation. In addition to the food and drink, the decor (fall wonderland!) and furnishings (whole place looks like a Restoration Hardware) make Michael Angelo's Winery a fun experience and great way to spend the afternoon/evening. read more

What a beautiful venue! We went around 5:30 to beat the crowds, but even then it was pretty busy...we nabbed what seemed like the only Table left by the entrance. Not until we were leaving hours later did we realize there was another entire section down the hall in a separate wing that was open for seating! It just got busier and louder but it was a vibrant fun atmosphere. The wine was pretty darn good and we sampled most of them. The Zin was very good, both cabs were excellent. The merlot, Pinot noir and Sangiovese were not great. The Pinot Grigio and Riesling were surprisingly velvety, full, and smooth. Delicious. How it works: you go to the cash register at the bar to order your drinks, then carry your drinks back to your table. For food, you go to the Register at the bakery counter, order, pay, and they give you a number to take back to your table. Someone will bring your food out. The line at the bakery counter got obnoxiously long....they really need to think of a better plan. It got pretty congested with the wine line and the food line being close to each other. Hopefully they'll improve that whole layout situation in time. The food surpassed my expectations. We got pizza, arancini, & charcuterie. Despite the crowds, noise, and congestion, the atmosphere, decor, great food, and excellent wine made up for it. I would not buy a bottle of wine though....$45 for a bottle of cab?? Nope. A great place to gather. Plenty of parking. There aren't typical waiters or waitresses. You order everything at the counter and then it gets brought out to you. They have delicious food and very impressive desserts. We went there to celebrate a friend being done with her chemo treatments and it was a wonderful evening. Not sure how the entire dining room- which had empty tables at 5pm was reserved when reservations aren't take. Tables available in the so called "heated" patio. It was freezing! The chairs were ice cold to sit on making the experience worse and an added detriment was the door constantly opening for an event across the courtyard. really can't seat patrons in a room that is only 50 degrees! In addition to the cold, it's dark and sad in there. Never again. Terrible experience and couldn't wait to leave. (We asked for the heater near us to be turned on 3 times and no one ever came by to do it) read more
