We called to confirm we were in network with our insurance and my wife went in for a cleaning and check up whith no problems. I then went in for a cleaning and check up and needed to have some cavities filled. I was provided an estimate showing how much my insurance would cover and all the minute details about which teeth and what my out of pocket would be. I scheduled the appointment for the fillings about a week later. I arrive at the appointment and am presented an estimate for about half of the fillings for about $330 with insurance paying the rest. I sign the estimate and go into the appointment. No problems with the fillings themselves. I come out to the front counter after my appointment and am presented with a bill of approximately $740! They said that my insurance wouldnt actually cover as much as they though. I asked them to explain why, which they really couldn't, and I agreed to pay the original amount and requested someone call me to explain what happened and what could be done. In stead of receiving a phone call over the next few days, I recieved two copies of the bill in the mail. The total was around $700, which was confusing since I already paid $330. So I went in to the office today to talk with them about the discrepancies and issues. Although I was very upset, I was calm but stern about my disappointment and want for compromise on the remaining balance. I was told it was my responsibility to verify what our insurance would cover. In fact, my insurance would not cover any of the work at all. The new remaining balance, now $1,918.40 I explained that that would be illegal in the general medical field under the No Surprise Act, as well as in my profession as a contractor and besides that, is immoral. I begrudgingly paid the balance. 0/10 would not recommend Outrageous!

I was stressed and dealing with a series of other personal things and feeling overwhelmed. From the moment I called I was greeted by Jamie who was so kind, non judgmental about my dental concerns and able to get me in within a couple of hours, even though I had never been there before. Lamar was the dental assistant who helped me when I arrived and really brought my worries and anxiety down with his friendly and engaging personality. Dr. Nav was kind and spotted the issue right away and set me up to come back 2 days later to get a root canal and crown. He let me know everything could be done in only 1 visit as he makes the crowns right there in his office. He made sure I was taking antibiotics leading up to the appointment and I left there feeling like I had made the right choice calling them. I'll admit I was so anxious for the days leading up to the appointment and not feeling great from the infection & some back issues but I was met again by Lamar who once again made the whole ordeal less stressful by really paying attention to what he could do to make me more comfortable and at ease & even offered a pillow for my back that was hurting. I was booked for a 3 hour appointment and expecting the root canal to take at least 1.5-2 hours of that time & dreading every minute but Dr Nav and Lamar were so efficient and worked so well together that it was completed in just an hour! They have all the latest technology & Dr Nav is an excellent dentist. After the procedure I relaxed in the chair while the tooth was made in about 25-30 mins and the fitting took an additional 5-10 mins. I have really bad TMJ and I've never left a dentist chair without a migraine but this time there was only minimal jaw discomfort and no headache whatsoever which is unheard of for me and my dental work history. I was so pleased with the results and the kindness of the staff. If you're looking for a friendly and efficient and skilled dentist I highly recommend Dr Nav & his team at Cameron Park Family Dentistry.

When I called, Jay was initially very informative, answering all my questions regarding insurance, the types of fillings used, and how payments would be handled--an important factor for me since the cost of my treatment would use up my entire insurance allowance for the year. After our conversation, I felt reassured enough to move forward with scheduling an appointment. However, I was informed that the office requires a 25% deposit to schedule, with payment in full required on the day of the procedure. Since the total cost was around $2,000, I asked if they would be willing to offer a payment plan for the remaining balance after the deposit. Jay immediately said no, which I understood, and I politely explained that I would need to find an office that could accommodate a payment plan. At this point, Jay snickered and told me she felt like I had just wasted her time. Shocked by her response, I asked if she thought it was unreasonable for a patient to inquire about a surgical procedure and insurance coverage before committing. Instead of addressing my concern professionally, she raised her voice and told me it was, in fact, a waste of time--adding that there was already a note in my file stating I was "going somewhere else." The only reason I had requested my X-rays was to obtain an additional quote, which is a completely reasonable and responsible step for a patient. Jay continued to talk over me as I attempted to clarify, forcing me to confirm her name and let her know that her behavior was incredibly unprofessional. If this is the treatment a potential patient receives from the front desk, it raises serious concerns about the professionalism and patient care within the rest of the office. Is this type of behavior accepted or even fostered by the practice? It was a huge red flag and left me with zero confidence in trusting this office with my dental care. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, especially when making important healthcare decisions. He chooses different foods for snacks, makes sure we brushes correctly and asks for help flossing. He had to get his first filling and they made him feel so comfortable, he did amazing! They recently moved from Diamond Springs to a bigger, nicer and more modern office in Placerville but the same kind, courteous and friendly professionalism remains.
