Hands down, the best massage therapist!!! I ran the Honolulu marathon yesterday, and I woke up with a massive body ache, barely able to get out of bed... I knew I had to go get a massage. I've tried massages from expensive spas to cheap massage schools, but nothing compares to Michael's massage. Thanks to Yelp! He knows all the right places (like inner scapula, outer tibia, and along the spine) and the pressure was peeeeerfect (I like mines on the stronger side). Just what I needed from head to toe, literally! The unique combination of shiatsu (my fav), lomi lomi, and deep tissue really helped massage out my achy muscles. It hurt when he was massaging it out but it was a feel good pain! You can always ask him to change the pressure. But I loved it!! I even fell asleep a little bit...cuz it felt so good!! I'll definitely be back again. I wanna say tomorrow, but I gotta save money for Christmas shopping ;p But I'm def going back before the year end. Thank you Michael!!! Michael was extremely pleasant and courteous through every step of our massage appointment process. He answered all of my questions and gave me great directions over the phone. What a great experience! I've been looking for a masseur in Kailua that can actually lay on the pressure; finally, I found it in Mike. Before we started, Mike sat me down and we had a nice talk about what my needs were, what I was looking for in a massage, and my experience with different masseurs in the past. He was very friendly and very attentive to my needs and was careful to make sure he wasn't going to hurt me during the massage. He was able to use a lot of pressure but still left me feeling relaxed and feeling great. Beyond the massage itself, the ambiance was fantastic. Hands down, the best massage I have ever had. After 2 weeks of upper back and neck pain, I was fortunate enough to get a session with Michael while he was in San Francisco. He really worked my muscles, almost like a deep tissue sports massage, but more relaxing. I felt phenomenal and convinced my boyfriend to get a massage too. We are both now hooked! I have been using Michael for around 6 years for my massage needs. He is friendly, professional and (as a bonus) a great person. He is the only person I trust to do deep tissue massage on me without worry of being hurt or being in pain. He has years of experience working in some of the finest hotel spas, but has grown such a reputation for his excellent work he is by appointment only. After all the reviews, I thought I'd try him out. But for Hawaii, he is expensive, and it was one of the worst ever! Deep tissue and lomi lomi, it was not! I requested deeper and it was just a rub. So if you want just a body rub he is your guy, if your looking for a good deep tissue massage to work out the knots, he is not the guy! Not worth the $80/hr when you can find better for $55/hr. read more

I don't usually bother to add reviews when there are already tons of good ones. So I thought I would frame this as a kind of response to the one bad review I read. I am visiting my sister in the neighborhood and yelped. Michael gave me a 1 1/2 hour massage at his place, listening perfectly to what I like and mixing relaxing technique with deep body work. I was an absolute mess. He found and released knots and tension and worked on a problem with my arch and heel that has been ongoing for a year. Don't know or care if the rate is slightly higher or slightly less than standard for the area. It was much less than I usually pay. He is professional and seems very knowledgable. read more

Michael is seriously good. He uses a variety of techniques--all to good use. I have never experienced his type of massage on my hands and feet. Michael is a gift! My husband and I live in San Diego but have a second home in Honolulu.We have known Micheal for about 5 years or so. We always have him come to our house on the first day we arrive, he sets up his table outside ( we are fortunate to be right on the ocean) and he whisks us off to never never land. He is particularly great with your hands and feet, has perfect pressure, and an intuitive way of knowing exactly what you need that day. I play competitive tennis and consider massage a neccessity to prevent injuries, and so far it has worked. I have had many many massages at spas, in home etc and tried many different styles of massage. I have had lomi lomi by others but this is the real deal. Amazing massage experience! Michael came to our home on MCBH and was friendly and professional. As a new mommy, getting the combination of lomi lomi and deep tissue did wonders for my back/shoulders after a month of really poor nursing posture. I have had massages in top spas in NYC, LA, Bali, Thailand and at several four-star spas across Hawaii. As a writer, vendors treat me to ridiculously expensive massages, in hopes that they get coverage... so let's just say I have experience! Out of all of my massages, Michael truly gives the best. I have been in two car accidents and have chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain. Michael really goes deep inside my tissues to unwind the damage. I even have to take a deep breathe sometimes because he's doing his magic and it's intense--but I ask for this type of massage! (I've also gone to licensed physical therapists that do massage, who were very good, but honestly, he's better.) I ALWAYS leave feeling relieved, and at least on a better track to healing. I come from Tahiti and saw Michael's massage through Yelp and I am glad I did. In Tahiti there is no masseur like him who is very friendly and knows where your pain is.After a 90 mn massage I felt relieved and the pain of the foot was better. He has worked from my head until each single toe of each foot, it was awesome! He combined all massage style and I could feel all the good pressure I needed. I would recommand to anyone.
