I wish I had read "Half MoonBays" review before I invested so much time, faith and money in Michael Drinnan.

Drinnan took the time to fully explain the details of cataract surgery and he was very patient answering my many questions.

She provided all the info and precautions for my situations. She performed two surgeries and it was great. Apparently she return to the Bay? California? Or the group? Recently. Whichever it is, I'm glad she is with this group. Dr. Quon, I believe, is who she is paired up with. Not sure how it works, but you get an optometrist and an Ophthalmologist. Not sure how they are assigned or paired up, but they are both great!!!

Very disappointing experience with this office's surgery scheduling and insurance verification…read moreprocess. My wife's surgery was cancelled because the office claimed our insurance was not active "on time." In reality, our COBRA payment had already been made 10 days before the surgery and Blue Cross/Blue Shield was able to perform an urgent manual eligibility override, confirming that the plan was active. The issue was not that we were uninsured -- the issue was that the office relied only on the initial system status and did not know how, or did not try, to handle the COBRA eligibility situation properly before cancelling the surgery. This created unnecessary stress for our family at the worst possible moment. A surgery should not be cancelled because the administrative staff cannot navigate a temporary COBRA processing delay, especially when the insurance company was able to resolve it quickly once contacted correctly.

Following my eye exam with Dr. Nguyen on May 6, I received a new prescription and purchased a pair…read moreof glasses. Unfortunately, the glasses did not improve my vision, so I returned them and ordered another pair. After trying those glasses for a couple of months with no noticeable improvement, I scheduled another appointment--this time with Dr. Filer--on July 15. During that visit, Dr. Filer confirmed that a stronger prescription could be written, but also noted that due to the cataracts in my eyes, a stronger prescription likely wouldn't help. He did not recommend surgery at that point, as the cataracts were not severe. I continued wearing the glasses from June in the meantime. Still struggling with my vision, I later purchased a pair of reading glasses using the same prescription, hoping it would help. That pair also failed to improve my vision. Out of continued concern, I sought a second opinion on September 15. After a thorough exam, the new doctor confirmed that my cataracts were not yet serious enough to warrant surgery. When I showed her the prescription I had received from Dr. Filer's office, she expressed disbelief and stated that it was essentially reversed compared to her findings--including the astigmatism correction. I used her corrected prescription to order a new pair of glasses, which finally provided the clear vision I had been seeking. I'm sharing this experience not only to express my frustration and disappointment but also in the hope that it might help prevent a similar experience for others. Note: When I requested Dr. Filer reimburse me for the glasses I had purchased using the 'wrong' prescription, I was met with silence.

In the 3rd attempt, she stated they would send a message release form--2 weeks later STILL NOTHING. I agree with the other reviewers--it is unfortunate that Dr, Filer is so great and yet his staff leaves an extremely negative impression. Not going back. If Dr Filer does not have the time to pay attention to these reviews--it is a disservice to himself and the practice.

She canceled my surgery the night before at 7pm. She mentioned something about my MRI results…read more I had the procedure done two weeks prior to surgery. She had plenty of time to look at . But she didn't. She waited until the last minute to call me at work. I was so excited, happy and was looking forward to it. And the fact that it was a medical issue and the insurance company approved it. And so I was all in. I was well prepared for this. I did my own research online on what to expect and what not to do after the surgery. I had to pay my full deductible prior , and I have no idea what the total cost is. I did everything what the nurses said for me to do, and to be at the hospital on time. I mentioned to my manager , I will be out on medical leave and disability, Then to tell him the bad news. He was shocked. What am I supposed to do. He already removed me from the work schedule , that has been prepared 2 weeks in advance. He gave me the day off of the supposed to be surgery, and will figure out on how to get me back on. Until that is fixed, if not I'm out of work for that time and no pay. I had my disability form on my end filled out, and went to her office to drop it off, and it was closed. So I slipped in the paperwork under her door. This is very unprofessional, and not acceptable to me. We're not talking about a simple procedure that can heal in a week. We're talking about my eyesight. She was highly recommended and I trust my doctor's opinion. And to tell him what happened and to refer me to another surgeon. It's a totally waste of my time, effort, stress and money of going back and forth to her office and to be on time for my appointment.
