New to Evanston I chose dr Gordon from a list. Unsure what to expect. Got there 15 minutes early. Did the check in forms. And waited nearly 15 minutes past my appointment. Hygienist greeted me to do the x-rays. She was very nice and informative. She ask did photos of my teeth. This was a first for me and I thought it was cool. I really liked the dentist. My older dentist in Lincoln Park retired and I needed some dental work on short notice. Dr. Michael helped me out with a proper diagnosis and sent me to an excellent endodontics specialist with a return visit to finish the task. I have since returned and found his son William to be even more compatible with my personality and a quality Doctor of Dentistry. Everyone there was really laid back and friendly, and they didn't make up a list of work that needed to be done with my teeth. I am self-conscious of my smile and the dentist helped me understand it isn't as bad as it could be. My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Gordon's and more specifically Jill's (Evanston's most fantastic dental hygenist) for over 15 years. We love this place. Jill is fantastic and Dr. Gordon is a great relaxed and competent professional. The personality of my medical professionals is important to me and both of them are great at making this as laid back an experience as a dental visit can be. Over the years, both my husband and I have had excellent care and we have always felt like our dental needs are well looked after. This was expecailly important to me when I first started with them many years ago since I had, experienced some "exciting" dental visits as a child and so I really apprecaite a competent and patent centered practice. Tammy is outstanding! I'm not a great dental patient, I'm anxious and I'm terrible at having dental x rays taken. Tammy is so patient with me and does a great job cleaning my teeth. I have so much confidence in Tammy, I brought my mom, who is in her 80's for a cleaning and was pleased to see Tammy was just as kind and patient with my mom as she'd been with me. She even offered my mom a pillow for her head as she got her teeth cleaned. I was very happy to see Dr. Gordon now has a panoramic X-ray machine, so I'll never have to deal with biting down on those old x-ray things again. Dr. Michael Gordon, and his son Dr. Bill Gordon are both also very patient and kind. They explain everything very clearly, using X-ray results as a guide. If you're a bit of a wimp when it comes to going to the dentist or you haven't been for a while and are afraid of being chastised, then give North Shore Dental a try. The worst dental cleaning and some of the rudest employees I've ever been around. Ive been 2 times now and each time none of the receptionists failed to even greet me, not even with a simple smile. Each time I've waited 15-20 minutes to see the dental hygienist who rushed through my cleaning like she had someplace better to be. 30 minutes later (yes she only spent 15 minutes on both x-rays and a cleaning) my gums were so sore and bloody from her lack of focus or care and my teeth felt no cleaner than they did an hour before. I'll never go to this dentist again and would highly suggest anyone reading this to find a different location. read more

I was referred to Dr. Gordon by a personal friend, after suffering from 3 unsuccessful attempts at having a crown repaired by my previous dentist. I could NOT have been more pleased with the recommendation and results. The work was done in an efficient, affordable manner, and with the long lasting results I had hoped from my previous dentist. I could not disagree more! The service I received at Dr. MICHAEL GORDON's office on 635 Chicago Ave was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a Dentist Office. I was referred by a orthodontist in Evanston, after making an appointment for cleaning and filling repair.I arrived and was chastised by one the dental technician( an old and unhappy lady in her late 50's) for being 15 minutes late, and was told in an aggressive tone, that I wouldn't receive full treatment even though I originally blocked out 2-hours for my appointment . I felt I was being treated poorly, spoken down to, and lectured by the person who should have been providing a reasonable amount of customer service / friendliness to a new client; but I guess customer service doesn't matter. I WOULD NOT recommend this dentist office to anyone who expects a peaceful and pleasant experience at the dentist. Dr. Gordon staff should be commended for there superior level of POOR SERVICE, specifically the old technician with the bad hair cut. I have nothing but rave reviews for Dr. Gordon, Jill (my hygienist), and the rest of the staff. I've been coming here for years, and I credit them for helping keep my teeth and gums healthy. (I do come in every six months and brush and floss, as recommended.) They are great about giving you a reminder phone call about upcoming appointments. Cleaning is always done professionally and carefully, and they have upgraded to a digital x-ray system. I am always impressed by the friendly, patient, professional and caring service I receive. Horrible dental hygienist. One of the dental hygienist is very rough and her cleaning is so painful and uncomfortable. The dentist, Michael Gordon is very disappointing as well. Put in 2 crowns and they were the wrong size. The last crown he put in gave me so much pain and caused so much inflammation to my gums that I was constantly calling and visiting his office. In addition, the crown kept popping out. When I told him it was too tight and digging too much into my gums and that's why my gums are hurting and inflamed, he told me that's how it should be. The final time the crown popped out, I left it out to give myself a break from the pain and that was for a few weeks. After a few weeks, Dr M Gordon was informed about my crown and he left me a voicemail telling me that it's OK if I didn't want to put the crown back in. What kind of dentist tells his patient that?! To top it off, he didn't even notice that the other crown was cracked and he supposedly looked at my X-rays! Finally, after 1.5 years of constant pain and suffering, I went for a second opinion and the other dentist told me that the reason for all of my sufferings--the crowns were too big and did not fit well. In addition, one of the crowns was cracked and it's only 3 year old. Awful and disappointing dentist. Incompetent and insensitive to boot. read more
