Dr. Flaningam is the best. There, that's it.
He really listens to me, because he knows that I am the best gauge of what's going on with my body. Also, when I was going through a really difficult time, and felt like I needed a little better living through chemistry, he was there for me. He listened to what was going on with me, and was very gentle in encouraging me to try a medication to help get me back on track. He takes the time to incorporate the psychological with the physical. He's no "old school" doc. He's one that I feel comfortable talking about highly embarrassing issues (I have many, but we'll save that for another day).
Also, it's quite easy to get an appointment with him, which is a huge plus. I found this out when I awoke with 2 huge abscesses one day. I know, totally sexy. He talked with me about what was going on, and where I may have picked up the bug that caused these disfiguring pustules of doom (an ex, natch). He treated me with the appropriate antibiotics and took swabs to make sure they were the right meds. The lancing was so painful, but I don't think anything could be done about that. For an illustration, look up MRSA on YouTube, if you dare. Even with the drugs and the advice of a nurse friend who treats wounds, and a friend who's physical therapist, I still have a horrific scar on my shoulder. I talked with Dr. F about how I'd never find me a husband now! and he offered to send me to a plastic surgeon. I told him thanks, but no. If a man can't accept me as I am, then I don't want to have anything to do with him. He was very relieved to hear this.
My only complaint, the only one (really!), is that his staff isn't the best about returning calls. But, if I have to call them, I will because I cherish having a great and caring doctor. read more
