I was sent to Dr. Figueroa by my dentist at Princeton…read more The problem was - a cracked tooth that needed extraction and implant placement thereafter. Upper left. I read all about implants and when I saw the doctor and spoke to him, he knew every single bit of information I was prepared to ask about. A smart gentlemen! He gave comprehensive and detailed information, no BS, just substance. Extraction was a breeze. Started with no-pain anesthesia (Raul is using a cool technique to make sure you don't feel pain from the needle). Tooth was out in no time. Bone graft in place. Stitches were placed so quickly I did not have time to notice (confident stitches are a sign of a very skilled surgeon). Healing was pain free. I did not use any pain meds and all pain was gone by day 3. Bone graft was installed perfectly and tooth was ready for implant in 3 months. Next, the implant. 3D scan, surgery on the same day, did not use pain meds at home, was pain-free after about 3 days. A week after placing the implant I felt my mouth free from any hints I had surgery. I am very impressed. Dr. Figueroa is a thinking surgeon with outstanding hands. A.K. She made me feel comfortable and did everything she could to make my cleaning as painless as possible, which she included using a numbing cream on my gums, which helped a lot. She's very knowledgeable, asked questions, and recommended different things to try to keep my gums in good health. Her office staff is extremely nice too. I spoke to Natasha on the phone and then met her today. She's very sweet. The young woman who did my x-rays was great too--nice and friendly and was fast so I didn't have to sit long with the plastic things in my mouth. This all made such a difference in my dental experience, which I always dread. The office is cheerful and decorated for the holidays. The parking was right next to the office in a private lot. The office itself is conveniently located right off Route 130 so it's easy to get to. I highly recommend Dr. Maia if you're looking for a dentist. I was so pleasantly surprised!

He and his team were so wonderful during the initial consultation, I knew my son would be in great hands for the surgery, and he was. The front office staff and Dr. Staller's nurses were so patient, kind and accommodating, and Dr. Staller was so good to my son, taking every care to keep him comfortable, and explain everything to both of us before, during and after the surgery. He gave us his cell phone number for any after hours concerns (including meeting us at his office if we needed help on Christmas Day, even though the office was closed), and called a few hours after the surgery personally to check on my son, who was doing great. I was upfront about my health history immediately and shared that I did not believe I would need surgery or drastic intervention but wanted to take preventive steps to take care of some issues that had come up. Then, after giving the office access to my records I was told my case wouldn't be taken on specifically because of my complex medical history. I understand every provider has the right to decide which cases fall within their comfort zone, but it was disheartening to be turned away specifically because of health circumstances that led to needing periodontal care in the first place? I'd have appreciated more transparency about what specifically made my case a concern, being told upfront when I disclosed my health history that Dr. Astolfi does not work with patients who have complex medical conditions, or even a referral to someone equipped to treat patients like myself. Patients navigating complex medical situations are often the ones who most need to find a provider willing to work with them, not around them. I hope this feedback is useful for the practice going forward.
