This office is not trustworthy. I had a similiar experience as others. Told me I had to pay $180.00 because my deductable was not paid. After contacting my insurance I was informed tha my deductable was indessd paid. When I asked for my money back they respnse was that they had not sent the claim to insurance and I would not be getting my money back. i respect Dr. Kim. He is the non-nonsense type of guy. He is straight to the chase and is confident in his knowledge. I was there for an ear "infection" which turned out to be something else. Dr. Kim made the most accurate, precise diagnosis and prescribed a pharmaceutical treatment. He was concerned about the potential cost of the big pharma medication and suggested a home-remedy which turned out to be effective. Dr. Kim was kind in his approach and suggestions. DON'T trust this office or doctor!!! One visit, lasted about 5 minutes with doctor and my bill was over $1,000.00 They billed my insurance for a procedure that I did not have done!!! Dr. Kim is extremely unprofessional, condescending and rude. After finding out the root cause of all of my sinus infections, inflammation and pain were due to mold in my home he literally laughed it off. Even showing him a report from a reputable home inspector revealing the mold in our home he mocked the charts saying I paid for all the red on the papers. His patient interaction skills are absolutely terrible, he was condescending, impatient, and made it seem like my questions were an inconvenience. When I asked for an alternative treatment option he tried to scare me into choosing his first suggestion by stating an MRI with contrast is invasive and claustrophobic. First of all I my intensions are not to call the doctor callous but for my voice to be heard as I am trying not to cry writing this. I started with Dr. Kim with high regards as my ENT had retired and I worked with Dr. Kim's staff for over 15 years. The first appointments went very well and I was very impressed with his bed-side manner and gentle care for my needs. When I developed a odd substance on my tongue, he performed a laryngoscopy and diagnosed my situation as gentle as he could calling it enlarged papilla and that it is "my case" and my next cerumen management appointment, he kept talking to me on "why did I ask for him".. that "his PA is more gentle". I got the hint. The beginning of May I had my 8th Endoscopy & Colonoscopy as I am under the care of a Oncologist for TP53 & Li-Fraumeni high risk cancer and the anesthesiologist tortured my throat that never healed with pain, tingling, numbness and a white spot on my throat. I saw the PA Tonya and she prescribed 2 medications and to see Dr. Kim if it still persist. 3 weeks later as the symptoms never subsided, Dr. Kim walked in and as soon as he saw me.. asked "why are you here" all I could get out was that Tonya told me to see you as my symptoms have not subsided from the surgery I had over 2 months ago. He then looked in my nose and held a scope to my throat but not as evasive as the laryngoscopy. He diagnosed me with a cyst on my throat as he see that but said, "Im not concerned about it" and that I have no infection but proceeded to make me feel so uncomfortable about seeing me and not to come back unless I am coughing up blood or cannot swallow (basically dying) that I didn't mention the part about my tongue pain and tingling, etc. I just wanted to leave as soon as possible so no one would see me crying. My family all has Autism and my adult son has a higher diagnosis who loves Dr. Kim so I will be in cognito for his next appointment as he cannot drive. Believe me.. I so wanted to be treated with respect with all my mental and physical illnesses and yet I still want to go there as the staff and PA is remarkably caring but I will have to be dying to be seen by Dr. Kim... per his perspective. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! I took the day off from work to see Dr. Kim and after a two week wait the person that came in to see me was PA Tanya. Dr. Kim performs surgeries on Tues and Thurs so I am not sure why I was scheduled on a Tuesday. Tanya said she is not in control of the front office and they fill in Dr. Kim schedule with her. She went on to say that I can reschedule and come back another day to see him. I was scheduled to have a septoplasty at Dr. Kim's Office in November. I have been waiting to have this surgery for a long time and was excited to finally be able to get it done. The doctor's office called in September saying they will have to reschedule it. This was very frustrating because I already had time off scheduled for the surgery. They rescheduled my appointment for October, which was fine, but I had to change all my days off from work and contact my insurance to change the approval dates. Two weeks before my surgery is scheduled to take place they called me to reschedule it again. This is so frustrating for so many reasons. It is too late for me to request additional time off so I can't just reschedule it. I decided to cancel the surgery and I will be going somewhere else. Went here for an ear check up. The office is clean and tidy. The staff are polite and very efficient. Dr Kim is a no-nonsense kind of doctor. I find him knowledgeable and very efficient. Dr. Kim was recommended to me by a good friend and everything she told me about him is True!!!!! I have suffered from Allergies/ Sinus issues all my Life, got tired of constantly taking OTC meds so bought the Navage Nasal System on Dec 2020 and I have been Happy with it until Feb 2023! I contacted a bad sinus cold day after Christmas that lasted for weeks!! I was using the Navage twice daily for 3 weeks until one day I had a very bad nosebleed that lasted for 15 minutes, stopped using Navage and nosebleeds continued, couldn't blow my nose or sneeze without having a nosebleed which is annoying!!!! Apparently you can OVERUSE the Navage system and now I have extremely dry & cracked blood vessels which is causing the nosebleeds! I have had 2 Cauterizations and go back again for a followup, hopefully the second one worked!!! I'm using a prescribed ointment ( Mupirocin) and nasal spray (Afrin). After many years of having antibiotics thrown at me by other doctors for my sinus condition, Dr Kim found the source and fixed the problem. Dr Kim was very open in explaining what was needed. I started with an antibiotic and followed up with a CT scan. On my follow-up appointment, Dr Kim showed me the picture of my CT scan and how my left Sinus was still full of mucus. We scheduled a balloon sinuplasty for the following week. Everything was explained and got great instructions. I received the procedure yesterday. Dr. Kim was very informative as he did his work, which put me at ease. Today I am a little stuffed up and a little tired but otherwise great. Staff was really nice. From the initial phone call of making the appointment, to checking in at the front desk, to the back office medical assistants. They got me in very quickly , I have never got into a specialist office so quick. I was very impressed. Also, It was a Quick and easy check in process prior to the appointment which I was able to complete from the comfort of my home. Office was very clean. I too was apprehensive about the reviews and decided to give them a try given I was referred by my pcp, they charged $165 on 1st visit for the consult (was told i hadnt met deductible so i paid). He reviewed the ultrasound results that had been forwarded from my pcp for a lump on my throat and said since it was unclear what it was, a CTscan would be more thorough, so i went to the CT and came back for the results a few wks later. I was charged $75 the second time because i provided secondary insurance. At the visit, I was told the scan showed a growth on one side of my throat possibly a congenital cyst OR the muscle on this side of my throat was just bigger than the other, i asked what does that mean? And his answer was "you were just born that way" As you can imagine, that was not an answer that would make you feel at ease. I proceeded to tell him that would make sense IF that abnormality had been present forever but given it had showed up not too far back, i wanted to know what my options were. he said surgery or leave it alone, but having surgery would possibly be for nothing if there was nothing in there and i would be scarred for life. I asked how would surgery be? (Wanting to see if it would be inpatient, outpatient procedure, non invasive, etc) But the answer i got was "on an operating table, in a hospital, and we would cut your throat open"...then he went on to say even if i wanted surgery i would now need an MRI as pre surgery requisite... his short answers, his poor bedside manner, his lack of interest in my concerns as a patient, and overpriced visits made me look for a second opinion. I got the order for an MRI and moved on to see another ENT (same last name do your research he is amazing!) i saw the new dr, with MRI results in hand, first visit was $18 copay! Same insurance, and hadn't met my deductible either! He pulled the MRI results instantly on his laptop along with my previous ultrasound n CT scans to review as well, and lo and behold i in fact had a congenital cyst. Was given my options without even asking, and told me the pros and cons of leaving the cyst as is. He listened and answered my questions, all in the first consult. I knew exactly what i wanted to do to help me sleep better at night and not worry about the cyst becoming malignant in the future. never payed over $18 for visits, up until surgery. he did a magnificent job with no keloid scars! (Different review though!) So im just here not to bash this dr or his staff but to tell you the PATIENT, do your research, you deserve the best care, seek a second opinion. Health insurance is expensive DO NOT SETTLE for mediocre care. **Took me months to write this review because every time i would want to, i was just at a loss of words. Recently did my visit to Dr Kim and he wasted my time giving me no actual result for my issues of my throat. I had surgery hoping things would get better and it's still the same almost 2 months later, I ask him what could I do? In making my throat go back to normal and look at me saying " there's not much I can tell you" I got the feeling once the surgery was done he cared less about my situation but then again Doctor Kim always seem to be that way and get me out quickly as possible everytime I had appointment. This asshole doesn't even deserve one star. I came here a few years back. Absolutely the WORST experience of my life. I will NEVER go to Dr. Kim ever again and beg people to heed my warning, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! The only reason I am writing this review so late is because my coworker just recently had a horrible experience with him and I felt that I needed to warn people about this guy. I am a physically fit person, I do Crossfit and at the time I got the surgery I was beach lifeguarding. I'd like to consider myself a tough easy going person with no problems healing or such. I came in because I had enlarged tonsils. My tonsils were so big to the point where they were touching each other. My first appointment, I waited an hour and a half before I was seen. Dr. Kim finally came into the room, stayed no more than 5 minutes, "diagnosed" me by saying "You need to get your tonsils removed or take allergy medication for the rest of your life to reduce inflammation". He then walked out of the room before my mom or I could ask ANY questions. At the time I was 22 years old but never had any surgery before, so I brought my mom to help me ask the questions I wouldn't think to ask. Well the nurse ended up answering all of our questions, kept assuring us that he was a very good doctor, and that she apologizes for the doctor being short because it was such a "busy" day. So, we scheduled an appointment for surgery and thank God the surgery went well! HOWEVER Dr. Kim prescribed the WRONG pain medication AND WRONG instructions for the type of medication he prescribed me. Thank God I spent the 4 WEEKS recooperating (more than double the normal amount it takes to heal after getting the tonsils removed) at my mom's house. I ALMOST DIED from an overdose because this ASSHOLE wrote the wrong fucking prescription. Post surgery, (when i wasn't passed out from the wrong fucking drugs) I was doing everything you were suppose to be doing, i.e. stayed away from anything acidic, tried to keep my throat wet/moist by drinking tons of water/Gatorade, and etc. I was losing weight fast and was so dehydrated from the drugs my mom finally took me to the E.R. and the E.R. nurse asked what medication I was taking, my mom showed him the bottle. The nurse was very confused by the prescription so he went and asked a doctor for help on verifying the presciption. Needless to say they told me Dr. Kim gave me the wrong prescription. At first we thought it was the pharmacy's fault, so we called and the pharmacy said that they even called Dr. Kim's office to verify the prescription and the idiots that worked up in the front office verified the prescription. I wish I could give this office 0 stars. I called because I need to have a tonsillectomy and asked his office if he was available for surgery in the next few weeks. They told me yes and scheduled my appointment for a pre-op consultation. For starters, I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time and paid my copay of $75 as soon as I arrived. I ended up waiting 90 minutes to be seen and if I hadn't paid my copay already I would've left. When I finally saw Dr. Kim, he was rude, short, belittling, and absolutely 0 help. He rushed me out of his office as quickly as possible and didn't even let me ask any questions. I left more confused than I came in. He told me because of COVID, he would not perform my surgery until "things got under control and it was safer to be in the hospital. It could be next month, it could be next year. I don't know." He then referred me to another doctor who was currently doing surgeries and was not afraid to do his job. Since the appointment was an entire waste, I called the office and asked for my copay to be refunded so I could use it for the other doctor he referred me to. His office refused to refund my copay because the doctor never said he couldn't do my surgery, he just said he couldn't do it now. I will be filing an appeal with my insurance company. This office scammed me out of my money and I would highly recommend going anywhere else. Not to mention, Dr. Kim and his staff were all incredibly rude. Cruel, terrible, arrogant. I had an endoscopy at Dr. Kim's office due to laryngitis and intermittent voice loss. I was referred to him by my oncologist at Long Beach Memorial. A drug I'm infused with every few weeks is known to cause temporary or permanent loss of voice. Dr. Kim told me that he could see one vocal cord is atrophied, but had no baseline photos, so did not know what caused the damage. He told me not to talk, yell, or whisper for 3 months, until a follow-up endoscopy. He asked what particular disease and stage I'm diagnosed. After I replied, he told me to stay on the drug, regardless of whether the loss is permanent, because my prognosis couldn't be worse. In other words, you're going to be dead soon enough, who cares if you're mute. I left in tears. Changed ENTs. Dr. Kim refused to allow me to pick up the images from the endoscopy, or to send them to the other ENT, even after I filled out release forms and returned them. I offered to pay. I asked if I could bring my cell phone in and take pictures off the computer screen. Denied. The hospital staff and the other ENT also asked him to release my records. I drove to the other ENT's office to fill out more release forms. Kim repeatedly refused. This Dr.'s license should be revoked. By Federal law, patients have legal rights to our medical records. Kim appears to be banking on the likelihood that if I want to take him to court, I won't live long enough, so who cares. Worst doctor experience ever. read more

My right ear had been uncomfortable, almost cloudy for the past week or so. I couldn't hear very well, probably caused by the severe flu I caught last month and the allergic reaction from last week. FML. Anyways, Dr. Michael Kim was performing surgeries all week long, therefore unavailable for an appt. However, the receptionist was kind enough to schedule one for me with the PA, literally for the following day. These specialists are sometimes backed up quite a bit, kinda like how my ear was, and you can't set an appointment until weeks later. But, I was glad this office was able to help me so quickly. Located, in Los Alamitos off Katella Ave and the 605 FWY, this place doesn't seem as bad as some of the reviews previously stated. The staff seemed very professional to me. Every person I passed by in the office greeted me with a hello and a Cracker Jack smile, so I felt respected. Maybe, they all had a pow wow, read the poor reviews, and decided to do something about it. #YelpWorks The nurse was kind enough to automatically send my prescription for my medication directly to my local pharmacy. Saving lives and paper. I'm diggin' that. Also, I didn't need to make my follow up appointment out in the reception area. I was charged over $900 dollars for a 5 minute doctors visit and a hearing test. I went in because one ear of my ears was damaged in an accident. I came prepared by taking a hearing test on my computer so I had a good understanding of what was wrong. After waiting a couple of weeks for an office visit and a long wait once I got there, Dr. Kim proceeded to tell me that I didn't know what I was talking about (fair enough I thought - I'm just a highly educated Aerospace Engineer not a Doctor... maybe I insulted him doing my own test). So, he had me take a hearing test which simply proved my results. Nothing was learned but I don't blame him for not trusting a patient. Then I got this HUGE bill. I explained that this was out-of-network and they accepted my office payments as payment of over $200. I tried to work with them to reduce the bill, but they have me over the ropes because I signed forms which pretty much take away most of my rights against unfair billing. Now he is trying to squeeze another $150 from me. Seriously? For what? 5 minutes of his insults and another 15 minutes of an assistant to take a hearing test? How does that add up to $900? Bottom line Dr. Kim was extremely rude to me and made me feel like an idiot. I've never been so insulted by a doctor in my life. But billing of over $900 for only 5 minutes of his time and a hearing test is absolutely absurd. Now he's going to take me to collections. If he collects a single dime from me, I'm going to take him to small claims court. read more

I'll be completely honest, I never even saw the Dr. Although you should read why I am writing this post. I waited 35 mins for my appointment today and realized in that time where I should've been seen (and it was a full house in there... I wasn't going to be seen anytime soon), I read all of the reviews. Sooo many red flags... #1 The Dr.'s office called to confirm the day prior to say there is going to be between a $100-$200 charge for this visit. I have great insurance BTW. #2 There is a parking structure that you HAVE to park in and take a ticket. The Dr. does NOT validate parking. You can't pay the $3 for your patients to park? That's IF you even get seen within the past 2 hours. Judging by the reviews you have a good chance not to be seen within that time frame. #3 Instead of filling out the regular privacy and insurance forms there are 3 pages strictly saying (yes I am paraphrasing) "you are going to have to pay for everything. Pay $20 for cancelling a visit. You understand you have a co-pay that needs to be met... It was insane the amount of initials you have to do just to understand you are fiscally responsible for EVERYTHING. #4 Now going on 30+ minutes after my "scheduled" appointment (yes I gave them all my medical information before I came in) is when I started reading all the reviews and noticing the trend. I did ask the front desk why the Dr. does not validate and she stated that an independent person owns that and doesn't want to negotiate with the Dr. After signing all of these forms I realize the Dr. is just plain cheap. It's part of doing business to be a part of a huge medical center to come together as a group and lease out the parking. I don't have time to wait around all day for a visit with a Dr. who is just in this for the $. Never felt like this before ever. I left after waiting for over a half hour after my appointment. Dr. Kim is great. He placed tubes in my 2.5 year old's ears. My son had no issues with him. I thought he was thorough, professional and easy to talk to. He used an ear diagram to explain the procedure. His operation at the Reagan Surgery Center was prompt and successful. He also looked at my 10 month old during the same visit. I thought he was very nice. My only complaint would be when we had the intial consult we had quite a wait to see, but at the same time he squeezed us into the last appointment the same day. read more

Was referred to by my primary so did not check the reviews. Wish I had. This doctor is literally the worst doctor I have ever been to with regards to his attitude and overall manner. Went in for hearing test and potential apnea diagnosis. Charged approx $200 for each test... ok.. then charged co-pay when I picked up apnea device... ok..fine... then charged me (without my knowledge) another co-pay just for dropping the damn machine off (literally walk in and hand it to them). On top of that, they tried to charge me another $180 for another test that I did not ask for when there was no sign of apnea. I declined and just wanted to get results of prior tests. When hearing test showed signs of hearing loss and a candidate for hearing aids, Dr. Kim says I should just go to Costco because, "cost is obviously a big concern for you". Um, I guess declining another test and challenging them on their billing practices makes the good ol' doctor mad. NOT GOING BACK! read more

He did almost nothing for me, other than order tests that, even with REALLY GOOD insurance, cost me over $500 out of picket to ascertain that I had, wait for it, a sinus infection, and some nerve damage hearing loss. Since I'm a professional musician, the hearing loss isn't that surprising, but Dr. Kim didn't choose to listen to me long enough to understand what I do for a living. Go with the bad reviews, of which there are many, and keep your distance from this egocentric megalomaniac. Oh, and I had to wait at least an hour for his presence. I left Dr. Kim's office feeling frustrated and with none of my questions answered. He was frigid, defensive, and as I explained my symptoms he talked over me as if he wasn't even listening. As soon as he came into the room, his demeanor made me uncomfortable, as if I was wasting his time. I don't know if it is because I am a young woman, but I felt patronized and a bit ridiculous for coming in. I am a professional singer and wanted to scope my vocal chords because I am having vocal problems. As soon as I told him my concerns he seemed to make an instant decision that he would not help me. Dr Kim was referred to me by my PCP but when I looked at the Yelp reviews, I was a little nervous. I came into a typical Doctor's office, clean & easy to wipe down chairs waiting room. Things have to be easily cleaned in the era of Covid. The receptionist was warm & friendly. I had to fill out the typical paperwork( I would suggest having the forms online so patients can download & fill out at your connivence as many offices do now).Check-in time was less than 15 min. I was shown into a room & interviewed by an very pleasant assistant and then the PA introduced herself, questioned me & examined my ears. I found her very professional & personable. Since I was only having my ears seen for wax removal, I thought I might be rushed through. I was wrong. I was treated as if I were having a major procedure. That's how to tell how really professional a Dr & their team really are. The PA explained that they would remove the wax & schedule for follow up visit to assess the rate of build up & then put my on a schedule. Also Dr Kim came into the room to introduce himself. He stated he liked to meet all new patients coming into his office & I found him very pleasant also. I later found out that one of my sons has been his patient for many years & he had always had good interactions with Dr Kim & his office staff. I've worked in the medical field for over 35 years, both hospital & outpatient offices so I'm pretty critical on office standards. Dr Kim's office met my standards. Also in the medical field we always say it's the few irate patients that write the reviews, the everyday patients don't have time to waste. Also if you want the quickest time book your appt either early am or just after lunch hour. Some patients need more than expected time & it just backs up everyones wait as the day progresses. read more

This business is pathetic. I had a appt at 2:30 on 8/2. I was not called back until 3:30pm only to be told the doctor was not in today. WTH! why waste my time for a entire hour without telling me. To make matters worse. I called five times to speak to the office manager to complain and was given the run a round and to be avoided. I was even given a separate number to call (billing) to vent my frustrations. Then that number went to voice mail. These people are incompetent and I will take my business somewhere else.
