The provider made me feel comfortable, he was knowledgeable, and made me confident we could fix my sinuses. However, prior to leaving he informed me I would need a referral to be seen back as he wanted me to have CT scan done. I was open to paying cash for the CT scan to complete it asap. However, I was told I could not schedule as a cash patient by their staff and rather rudely as well. I went and got a referral and was just informed that they do no accept referrals and I would be a cash patient (that according to their office they do no accept). I am disappointed and annoyed. Not a great first impression. I'm a new patient, probably a soon to be former patient. I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out the forms. The young girl at the front was not welcoming at all, and it was only before 9am. Anyway, I was finally called in 40, ,,,,, FOURTY MINUTES! After my appointment time, taken to a room and waited another 30 to 35 minutes, before an assistant asked my name. I believe they forgot about me. Because of the information on my intake form, Dr Tan, already had a diagnosis in less than 3 minutes. Wrong!!!! He didn't even listen to my concerns, symptoms, and literally brushed me off when i asked questions. My 2nd visit, was not as long, the PA did listen, as I explained my medical history with my diagnosis I got in the E.R. She had a different possible diagnosis from Dr Tan. My appointment was at 9AM and the waiting room is already full waiting for people to check in and all the office staff is laughing in the back instead of checking people in. My husband has a lot of congestion problems that he was hoping would be fixed when he came here. Dr. tan was quick to suggest a procedure that costed us thousands of dollars out of pocket. And for each follow up appointment, my husband expressed that the procedure didn't work and Dr. Tan was quick to suggest that it could be other things. Well 8 months later and my husband still has congestion issues and we went to go see other specialists who confirmed that it wasn't other issues that Dr Tan had suggested. It's really hard to get Dr Tan on the phone for follow up appointments. He never calls when he's supposed to but his staff is really good at collecting payment ahead of time. Dr. Jesse Tan is a very competent and personable physician. However, the office staff is generally unprofessional and needs some serious training and management. It is nearly impossible to get a prescription refilled unless you call their office, and then you are put on hold for an unreasonable amout of time. It is unfortunate that the doctor's services are of high quality; but the staff is off-putting, and the office staff's communications and responsiveness are a key consideration in using a physician's services. read more

Do not go here. I never write reviews, but this one is needed. First off, they charge you before insurance, so be prepared to pay a bogus bill then call for two weeks to get your refund after insurance takes care of it. Second, you will wait for your appointment, even if you're early. I had a sinus surgery and Dr. Tan said I could eat whatever I wanted after, so I did and then could only eat soup for two weeks. Day of surgery I sat for 4 hours with no update until the last hour that Dr. Tan was running late in another surgery. He filed claims with wrong information multiple times. For my week post op appointment, whoever saw me, wasn't Dr. Tan said there's not much in my nose to take out (referring to packing), then didn't take anything out of my nose. Horrible customer service! I was referred by my primary doctor to see Dr. Tan, finally my appointment date came I showed up early to fill out paper work and pay my copay. I was told by an older lady my amount due today was more than what my insurance had told me. I called my insurance company I had them on the phone. I asked the girl in the front if she would like to speak to them she said no. So that my insurance can explain to her that my copay wasn't what she and the other older lady said it was. And, due to the issue faced, we had to schedule an excision (which was a lead time of 8 weeks). However, the staff at Tan Head & Neck Center was always pleasant, friendly, and professional. Surgery day came, and I was nervous, but the staff at Memorial Care Hospital in Long Beach were great, the surgery took 5ish minutes, and the healing began. Horrible horrible horrible! staff extremely unhelpful expect to wait 40+ minutes past scheduled appointments time just for the Dr. Tan to give you barely 5 minutes of his time. De. Tan was also unhelpful and unresponsive after a tonsil surgery I had to call the store 5 separate times with a swollen and sore throat for him to get back on my prescription about a week later for pain management. I had chronic sleep problems due partly to my clogged nasal pathway. Dr Tan and his staff had been more than great to me. the surgery went through very smoothly. 2 weeks later, I am now able to breathe through my nose 100% - this is a big deal for me as I've alway used my mouth to supplement my lack of air flow thru the nasal cavities. Avoid the office if you have any kind of referral needs. They continually mess up coding for procedures... at least they have for me several times. Today was the last straw. I sat in the outpatient surgery center for almost 4 hours only to have my procedure cancelled due to "someone" manually inputting a random doctors information. I am beyond frustrated as this is the 3rd time they have coded wrong. I had no idea today that the random doctor wasn't at the surgery center I was assigned to. They don't call back when they say they will either. I've complained to Dr. Tan before and he appeared shocked that his office staff didn't know the proper procedures. I had a CT scan from another doctor that needed follow up. After waiting an hour past my appointment time to be seen, the doctor didn't even know about the ct scan. When I explained what was happening and that I had brought the scan and report with me, he ordered a new scan without even looking at what I had brought. If you're going to subject me to a high cost procedure and radiation, you could at least look at the available data before ordering a new one. It was pretty clear to me that this place is all about the $$$ and not about my well being. I have been to Dr Tan several times. He has successfully helped me with a procedure twice to restore my voice. The type of procedure is known to not be permanent...but after the first procedure, I wouldn't say I was at 100%. I left my health care insurance, and went to k*iser for a while, the had me take speech therapy, and while that helped a bit...I don't think it was the right solution for me. I went back to my previous health insurance, and resumed service with Dr Tan. I had a second procedure from him, and so far everything is working great. I think I am as close to resuming my normal speech ability as possible. People don't know or realize, maybe just don't even think about it, but the loss of your ability to speak is awful. I have never left a yelp review but this place alone infuriated me to the point of creating an entire account on yelp just to do so. What is the PURPOSE, of having an appointment and getting here at the stated time, if they make you wait for an hour until after the appointment time and then once they let you in the room, they make you wait an additional 15 minutes to even see someone? And the actual appointment, (after you've waited the mandatory minimum of 5 days in hell) takes only 10 mins tops. So what are they doing back there, dilly dallying each other? WHO FUCKING KNOWS!!! And i have been here several times but this time i just got fed up. Who the fuck fills out the schedule knowing they are making people wait for all this damn time. Was supposed to get a procedure done but another PA states it's not indicated when I follow all their instructions for MONTHS and issues do not resolve. I call Dr Tan, "My Butcher". Any medical professional who wants to see my medical records may see them. I never needed thyroid surgery, but that's what he performed, instead of PARA-thyroid surgery. His surgical team had me sign off on thyroid surgery 20 minutes before I was supposed to have PARA-thyroid surgery. The PARA-thyroid adenoma was on the left, he took out my right thyroid and left the adenoma in place. I had to pay thousands to have the adenoma properly removed. I never had a single thyroid problem before Dr Tan pretended that I needed thyroid surgery when he knew that he could not find and remove the PARA-THYROID adenoma, but refused to tell me. All he had to do was cancel the surgery and admit that he was not capable of finding the adenoma. read more

This was my first time being treated in Dr. Tan's office and was pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness and quality of care from the staff and doctor. I spontaneously scheduled an appointment for an ear cleaning because I was in the process of relocating and switching PCPs at the time. Even though I experienced a longer wait past the time of my original appointment, I hadn't been waiting any longer then I would've at my local urgent care or previous PCP office, and the care I received after being called into my appointment 100% made up for the delay. With my past experience in and out of doctor's offices for another unrelated health issue, I find it's important to remember that numerous amounts of people are filing into the doctor's office everyday and everyone deserves proper care even if that means things taking longer then expected. These caveats never impeded Dr. Tan and his staff to attend to my appointment as well as the concerns I expressed about minor hearing loss prior to my cleaning, and they eagerly made accommodations to my situation as we saw fit. Besides the actual appointment, I was treated wonderfully by the staff at the front desk who took their time to sort out any issues I was having with my insurance, especially since this was my first visit at this particular clinic. Everyone I talked to was extremely helpful and concise about how to approach my next steps, appropriate aftercare, and my next follow up at the clinic. After this experience, I would not hesitate to recommend others to consult with the TH&NC if ever in need of an ENT and understanding doctor's visit. read more

Put off procedure too long! I had a deviated septum and several nasal passages blocked. Dr Tan did an incredible job correcting these issues. I am now a month and a half post surgery and have very clear ability to nose breath. My sinuses are now open. I have not been able to exchange this volume of air in years. My sleep and overall health is much better being able to nose breath now. Years of occluded sinus cavities can not be healthy being so close to your brain. If you are considering this procedure you are in good hands with Dr Tan and his professional staff. For your own health please do not put this off! read more

I had an appointment here last week and it was not a pleasant experience. As soon as I walked in the door the front desk receptionist barked at me to get a mask and that they didn't provide them. I have no problem wearing a mask, but the way you talk to someone goes a long way. She was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She also had a bunch of gold chains hanging outside of her scrubs with names and various other things. If I was a doctor this is not who I would want my patients to see and interact with as soon as they walk in. At first I thought it was just me but that is how she spoke to every client that walked in. After I get in and the doctor comes in it was very clear that they didn't have any of my previous test (MRI, brain wave scan, etc.) that would be critical to making this appointment a productive one. The lack of being prepared for your patients after a couple month wait to get an appointment doesn't instill confidence. The doctor was very nice but I don't think he was able to help with the lack of preparation. Anyway I am now looking for another doctor and have to start this whole process over again. I wouldn't recommend this office to my family or friends, take that for what you will. read more
