This review is for the front desk and office manager. I bought some face wash and lotion for acne, which I wanted to return because my face felt dry, painful, and flaky. When I called the office and asked for a refund, the front desk transferred me to the office manager, Kathy. She was incredibly rude and told me there will be no refund. After some persuasion, she offered to exchange the product for a different item from Dr. Lin's office. Well, here is where it gets interesting. She then put me on "hold", then I heard her say "bit**". She continued to tell someone how I bought the product a while back and I am just trying to get my money back bc I am cheap. Little did she know I was not on hold and I heard everything! I was so offended I ended hanging up. Wow...I will not be returning there even I think Dr. Lin is great. I am so lucky to be treated by Doctor Michael Lin's office! I was diagnosed with Palmoplantar Psoriasis on the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet. I suffered for 8 years, no doctor would allow me the laser treatments I read about, that were healing this condition I have. But then I met Dr. Lin who approved the Excimer treatments for my hands and feet and it has changed my life! The last review I wrote for Dr. Lin was in August of 2018, and, today May 23, 2019 my hands and feet are almost totally healed. Dr. Linn is such a compassionate doctor who cares deeply about his patients, and, so does his entire team of professional RN's, Nurse Practitioners, and Surgical Nurses, like Faye, Sunny, Lesya, Leila, and many others to name a few. I have continued to go to Dr. Lin's office and the level of helpful service they always provide me hasn't changed a bit. And the prices are still just as good as they were when I started going to their office about twelve years ago. The locations have changed, but the professionalism and the friendly atmosphere hasn't. I had a few sun spots that couldn't be concealed with the shear foundation I wore. Dr. Lin recommended to get a laser treatment. They applied numbing cream to my face and did some zapping with a laser. I couldn't quite see what they were doing due to the protective eye gear. It wasn't painful at all. It's amazing. I'm so close to having perfect skin, now. His wife was so helpful in advising the aftercare. This stuff, whatever he did, is unbelievable. I'm very happy with the results. read more

This office is the worst. They are engaged in overbilling. They are running some sort of scam. The nurses are rude. I was charged more than double what I was quoted. I was geting bills 5 months after the final payment, where they kept trying to squeeze me for another $200. It's a joke. Let me say that Dr. Lin is amazing, he helped me with my old war injury, it was a quarter-sized raised scar on my left shoulder called a keliod. He used as series of topical ointments, injections, and lasers to virtually eliminate the scar. Before on dry allergy days it would itch and drive me crazy, and at the beach people would look, now no more. Thank you Dr. Lin, I will spread the word. read more

My experiences at Linage (and with Dr. Michael Lin and Melissa Montes) have been great. They both really know what they're doing! Dr. Lin is an expert on skin cancer and can detect problems before they become serious. I've had a couple of skin spots that had to be removed surgically, and he did a fabulous job. In fact, one surgery on the side of my nose is barely noticeable. As for Melissa Montes, she's also great at detecting any skin problems and she's also become very experienced with cosmetic treatments like Botox. What's also great about Melissa is that she's very honest. She won't try to get you to do a treatment that won't truly benefit you. Bottomline - I recommend Linage highly. read more

I have been working with Dr. Lin and his staff for my acne scars. I have had TCA cross as well as profractional and sculptra. The end result, I no longer have to wear make-up and I actually look younger. I'm constantly getting compliments on my skin. Stay away from this Business----They don't care about customer service/their patients all they care about is how much money they can get out of you. Dr. Lin and his office staff are completely responsible for creating an atmosphere where their patients concerns, time and money is wasted. This office makes approved appointments and then does not follow through to keep the approvals. Then Dr. Lin and office staff, when they are told they need more documentation they fail/refuse to provide the proper documentation to the insurance companies. To see Dr. Lin for anything, you need to have pre- approval from the HMO--after you see the doctor--you then need approval for the procedure. All of this was done---but then Dr. Lin and office was directed by the HMO to send in another form (61-211)--they were called and then emailed that if they didn't provide the form the approval would be canceled. Dr. Lin and his office staff--failed to do that. They not only failed to do that---I called 2 weeks before my scheduled appointment to see if he could check another issue--his staff said yes and confirmed the appointment and the doctor could do everything at the scheduled appointment time. Then 2 days before my appointment, I was sent a conformation e-mail ---it confirmed my appointment as well as stated that if I failed to show up or if I canceled 24 prior to my appointment I would be charged $75.00. The process to see his takes about 2 months--at no time until 2 days before the conformation e-mail was I informed about his $75.00 policy. Since it take 2 months and then they only let you know 2 days before the scheduled appointment--the only recourse is to cancel the appointment and then go through the 2 month process with another HMO in service provider. On the day of my appointment, 3 hours before I was to be treated--I was called and told I would have to reschedule my appointment because they didn't have approval (?). This was incredulous because I needed approval for everything with this doctor's office. Not only did I have to take 2 days off from my work to for this treatment--then now I needed to reschedule--because of their screw up. I had to waste 2 hours trying to get approval from the Regal Medical Group--and then the parent company Blue Cross (all documented). The pre-authorization was cancelled by the HMO--because of Dr. Lin and his office staff's incompetence, failure to show good faith, failure to follow up before sending out the conformation E-mail 2 days before the appointment--which I could have not taken off the 2 days--but they waited until 3 hours before I needed to be at the office. After I got the call from Dr. Lin's office that I needed to reschedule--I called the Regal Medical Group--they informed me that when Dr. Lin requested to treatment--he neglected to provide the necessary form 61-211 form and that he needed to fill that out or the pre-approval would be canceled. They called and e-mailed him and his office. Regal said they failed to do that, so the computer canceled the pre-approval and e-mailed them. Dr. Lin's office failed be fill out the form and they failed to inform me. The Regal people told me that all Dr. Lin needed to do was to fax them the form today and I would be covered and they would approve the procedure. Dr. Lin's office faxed it over and there it. I called back and the Regal people said they were having computer issues--but since that was the only thing needed for the treatment approval--Dr. Lin's office could do a retro-approval and it would be fine. Angela (Dr. Lin's office manager) refused to do anything when I contact her--stating that their policy was to treat no one without prior approval--which I already had--but they screwed it up---they also should have treated me since they were told about the retro-approval form. I had to lose 2 days of work--they failed to respond to my e-mails and now I'm filing in small claims court. This type of total disregard for their patients--time and financial and well being--just shows how inconsiderate and uncaring Dr. Lin and his staff are--besides being incompetent doing their jobs. It also seems a double standard--since they can try and charge $75.00 if someone has car trouble--or a sick child--or any other legitimate reason for missing an appointment. Then they send the collection agency after them. I feel that I should be compensated for my lost work--and also that his policy of trying to extort people out of $75.00 should be stopped. He needs to let anyone who gets an approved appointment---when it's scheduled, not when they send out the 2 day conformation--that they will be charged if they cancel or don't show up---Patients need to know this so they can drop him as a doctor and reschedule with another in network doctor--but they don't find out until 2 days before their appointment. read more

HORRIBLE! Made an appointment for myself and my elderly mother for a fun girl's day using a Groupon they had. They called me last night to confirm. We get there and they have a TINY parking lot and there were no spaces, so we had to go someplace else to park. We go in and the receptionist was really snooty, but not mean to begin with - that changed quickly. She was looking up our appointments until she saw me pull the Groupon out of my purse. As soon as she realized we had Groupons she stopped looking on her computer, said they didn't have appointments for us, couldn't fit us in, and to contact Groupon for a refund. I will never go back and I will warn every woman I know to never go there. It took us almost an hour to get down there just to find out they they didn't want "our kind" in there (I guess "Groupon-user" is a dirty word to them). Please don't put yourself through the humiliation!! Worst experience I've ever had using a Groupon and it's disgusting. read more

My first dermatologist visit with Dr. Lin was for acne treatment. Dr. Lin has extensive knowledge and provided me treatment that was very quick and effective. I followed up with Dr. Sunni, who was very easy to talk to and helpful throughout the appointment. During the exam, she was very sweet, answered all my questions, and made sure that i had all the information I needed. Anyone who has ever dealt with a skin issue knows how frustrating and embarassing it can be. All you want is a doctor who knows what they are doing and can give you some hope and a plan. Which is why you should NEVER EVER go to see Dr. Michael Lin. I suffered from facial discoloration from a product I used which had a negative effect on my skin. When I went to see Dr. Lin, I was hopeful and excited that I would finally get the care I needed for my skin. This man barely looked at my skin. Asked me very little questions. Told me that it would probably never heal and then gave me an over priced prescription for something he NEVER took the time or gathered the information to diagnose. That happened in less than two minutes. I was devestated. His products did not work. He is by far the worst doctor I have ever come in contact with. Thank God I found another dermatologist who took the time to truly examine my skin and give me a plan and a prescription that is WORKING. Two weeks in and there is a dramatic visible difference. Skin and self esteem are too intregal in your life to waste time being dismissed and ill treated by this man. Lets just say I took one for the team. Everyone in the office was nice, and the physician's assistant who saw me was thorough. But it seems like you have to be really careful with the billing here... I was charged for a procedure during my office visit because they said it wasn't covered by my insurance. When I received my insurance statement/EOB I saw that the procedure had been paid for in full by my insurance - after I'd already been charged $160 for it. I called the billing department, they were nice and said they will refund the money, but they also told me it's their standard practice to charge FIRST and see if the insurance covers it later. So it's completely up to you to go through the trouble of checking your insurance statements, make sure you were charged the correct amount, then call in for a refund and make sure the refund was actually deposited. read more

After brief consult Dr Lin MD wanted extra cash for numbing cream. Yeah believe it or not? MD tried to sell me a $10k facial treatment to get rid of my wrinkles that were deep. Like really? I was referred to Dr. Lin and my experience has been amazing!! i had small skin tags around my neck and other skin conditions after my first pregnancy, people said it will go away but it didn't. so after my second pregnancy more annoying skin tags came along. i actually Yelped Dr. Lin before going to him and I honestly got a little scared seeing some of the reviews. Since he was highly recommended so i took a chance. I have never written a review for Yelp, but this experience was just so terrible that I had to. I read Matt B's review on here before going to the office, but I decided to give them a chance and check them out for myself. That was my first mistake. My appointment was at 11:00AM. I came 20 minutes (10:40) earlier so that I can get through the forms (one including an "Arbitration Agreement" which really irked me). I was not seen until 11:40. An assistant walked me to a room where I waited for 10 more minutes until I finally saw Lindy (RN). We talked for about 15 minutes until she finally referred me to Dr. McDonald, the plastic surgeon. I was set to go for the operation (mole removal), but Dr. McDonald said that she wanted to check with my insurance first to see how much they'll cover. So, I waited. I waited for 40 minutes until an assistant finally comes in and informs me that only Lindy would be covered for my insurance and that Dr. McDonald would not be covered. I would have to pay $750 for Dr. McDonald. I asked how much Lindy would cost and the assistant told me that she would have to check to see how much. 10 minutes later, she comes back with me and told me Lindy would cost $650. I was not expecting the surgery to be covered by my insurance (which I provided for them when I made the call 2 days before the appointment so that there wouldn't be any complications during the appointment). I expected to pay with my own money. I told them this. I told them that I would pay out-of-pocket, but they still insisted on checking with my insurance. The $100 that I would have saved was not worth the time waiting. I asked the assistant if Dr. McDonald was ready for me if I decide to go with the surgery, but she informed me that she was having lunch. I was so outraged that I ended up not having the surgery. It was just taking WAY TOO LONG. 2 & 1/2 hours of waiting! If you want a place where they respect your time, DO NOT GO TO THIS ONE. Had I gone with the surgery, the assistant told me that it would probably take another hour (the prep, the actual operation, the checkout). From the "short" experience that I had in that office, I knew this was an understatement. Also, the office was not upfront about their prices. They would not tell me anything about this over the phone when I made an appointment and they didn't tell me anything about it until very late in my time there. Running this business of theirs for years, they should have at least been able to give me a range (which I asked for). In conclusion, DO NOT GO HERE. You have been warned. P.S. I went to another site with reviews about this place and found someone describing their experience in this place as being "fun." My experience was anything but fun. This seemed very suspicious to me. I finally found a great dermatologist! I went there thru a referral from my primary care doctor, i have a ppo plan. tthere was a facial mole that i was worried about. Dr Lin was quick with the diagnosis of the nonmalignant nature of the mole and removed that and two more ingrown hairs. i had been looking at the damn things for like 2 years wondering what it was and he took care of it so quickly and professionally..and then he noticed a blemish on my nose and asked how i got that, i told him that i play a lot of soccer and i think i got hit in the nose really hard one time and no other doctor could fix it except if i went thru cosmetic nose surgery..he quickly and confidently said " so do you want me to take care of it " andi was like really? how? he said w a bit of filler injection..i was like ya lets do it..so within a few mintutes my nose looked good as new with a minimal cost..and i was rid of something that bothered me for years..i couldn't be happier with Dr Lin, he did everything i wnated and went way beyond what i expected..his staff was also very friendly and nice.. Dr. Michael Lin is a wonderful doctor. I had a variety of dermatologists to choose from and am so grateful that I chose him. When I walked into the Advanced Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute, I was greeted by the friendly staff, signed in, and asked fill out paperwork. I waited about 15 minutes maximum in to be seen by the doctor (including paperwork). Dr. Lin specializes in skin cancer and and such although he does offer a variety of other services including cosmetic. I was there to get a mole checked and was quite concerned. Once Dr. Lin came in, I was warmly greeted-- he patiently asked me about my concerns and examined me. He assured me that it was completely benign but removed it be tested as a precautionary measure. The procedure was virtually pain-free, he was so careful and gentle--very impressive. All in all, exam and removal could've taken 5 minutes, but it was a bit longer because he really took the time to get to know me. I never once felt rushed (even though there is high traffic in his office). Dr. Lin has bedside manner like no other doctor I've seen. My experience was not only extremely pleasant but kind of fun! do not go here. i went in for laser hair removal and left with second degree burns. i iced the area all day but the pain got so bad that i went to the emergency room in the middle of the night. i went back in to the office the next day and sunny basically told me that my skin was too sensitive... i ended up with scarring i can still see over a year later and a $600 bill for the emergency room that they refused to cover. read more

One star is too many. But I had to give a rating. I am quite surprised this "physician" is allowed to practice medicine. Incompetent, inept and beyond unprofessional. And not to mention HIGHLY arrogant. Had a mole removed and he took zero precautions to insure hygienic protocols were followed. No gown given to me. Blood dripping all over my clothes and face. No apologizes. He was more concerned about cleaning up the blood on the floor vs. make sure I was ok. He handed me a towel to "clean up." No follow up call, no interest in seeing how the deep incision he made was healing. I called his office to complain of severe pain and I was basically ignored. His office staff is equally rude and unprofessional. So much attitude when you speak to them. Unhelpful and so rude. I am not surprised by all the negative reviews. His bedside manner leaves much to be desired and he profoundly lacks professionalism. His standard of care left me puzzled. There are many competent physicians in Los Angeles. Had to wait three weeks for an appointment for my 87 year-old father. I ended up taking him to the Valencia/Newhall facility which is a lot further from where he lives. We got there and waited 45 minutes in the waiting room. I even asked the lady at the counter if we were there on the right day. We got into the see the doctor, he looked at a red mark on dad's leg, and couldn't identify what it was. He said come back in three weeks. We went to another dermatologist a few days later, we got in right away, and the doctor took the time to give us the proper medicine, and even biopsied the spot. Never seeing Dr. Lin again. I had some scarring from an accident and was told a laser treatment would be the best solution. It is in a sensitive area, so I wanted to make sure the work is done appropriately. I heard about Linage from a friend, who recommended me to there office after having successful work done herself. Upon arrival I was greeted with a warm smile and my appointment was with Dr. Sunny. She took time to ask me questions regarding how the incident occurred and upon inspection she also noticed a mole that she recommended to be removed. I appreciate the care and attention, as preventative measures are always best. It has only been a couple of days and my scar is already looking better. I am awaiting the biopsy on the mole to make sure there is no cancer associated with it....which I hope there is not! I was very happy with the service received. The office is very contemporary and I think is still undergoing some fancy modern esthetics. Makes sense to look good since they're making others look better. read more

Before my first visit I was a little bothered with the idea of needles poking me in the face for Botox! I went and saw Dr. Lin for some acne scars I had on and around my nose. He seemed very kind and attentive to my issue and upon assessing my skin, he quickly came up with what he thought would be the perfect treatment for my scars. Without having to book another appointment to get it done, he did the treatment right then and there. He did a "TCA Cross" on a few of the scars I had. After a couple weeks of healing, I began to see that the deep scars that I had, had elevated, thus making my skin look and feel much smoother in texture. I was so happy with the results!
