Dr. Amirkiai has corrected a bunion, a hammer toe and Mortons Nueroma for me with two very successful surgeries. These were performed after we first tried more passive treatments and with very thoughtful consultation. He takes the time to fully explain your options and cares about the people he treats. After each surgery I was given his personal cell phone number to call if any issue should arise. He is high on my list of doctors that I have interacted with in my life. read more

This is just the Dr and staff you want! I was diagnosed w a broken leg; he saw me immediately and casted my leg and recommended a scooter. His staff, his wife(!) and another worker, were beyond kind and helpful! Dr Amirkiai took his time with us and answered all our questions. My friend brooked his ankle in Vietnam, I helped him to come to US and immediately went to Dr. Amirkiai, although his ankle was broken over two months, after MRI and x-ray, he started the surgery it was a major surgery because his ankle was really messed up. after surgery and some Physical therapy, he is fully recovered, and walk normal. Thanks to doctor Amirkiai , After he returned to Vietnam, the doctors in Vietnam said; this Doctor did a true Miracle. Do not go here if you're trying to cure your toe nail fungus. The lasers did not work at all for me. I felt like being that severe Michael would have the knowledge of telling me it will not work due to how bad it was. I truly believed he ripped me off and wanted my money. They require a deposit of $275 to make you shoe inserts, but they don't pay it back to you even though they were paid by the insurance company. When you call them to inquire about it, front desk receptionist gets angry, and gives the runaround. I ordered several shoe inserts. Each time, they filed claims 6-7 months later. I almost forgot about my deposit of $275 for each pair since they waited very long time to file claims. Who remembers paying a deposit of $275 six-seven months ago!!! In addition to the deposit fraud, he charged for stuff he never did. I simply went and picked up my shoe inserts but he charged my insurance for stuff he never did. I've been going to see Dr. A for about a month or so now as I wanted to get a second opinion on my right foot pain. I had been seeing another podiatrist but was not getting any relief. I looked up the reviews for Dr. A and decided to give him a try. Right away I was happy with his level of care and professionalism. He worked with me on getting the right pair of shoes, and I am currently getting a new brace. I would highly recommend him for all your foot pain issues as he knows exactly what to do to take care of you. Would not recommend for various reasons: - Had a consistent wait time of 45+ minutes every time I showed up for an appointment even though I would show up in advance - Was overcharged for orthotics ($1200) and other podiatrists later confirmed that orthotics should cost $500-$700 - Was not refunded my part of the $275 deposit until I called 6 months later - shouldn't this be handled by the office? - I was complaining about foot pain after pairing orthotics with Hokas (the shoes they recommended) - and the doctor simply told me that "it should get better" and I just need to "walk more with them" - After walking more with them, the foot pain increased and my hammertoe got worse as my toes were cramped with the shoe and orthotics - These are permanent issues I will now have to deal with, and I will never trust this podiatrist with my feet ever again. He did not listen to my issues, had extremely long wait times and overcharged orthotics, and overall did not make me feel valued as a patient. I'm currently in Los Angeles and saw another podiatrist which: - Had shorter wait times (and apologized for any wait time at all) - Treated me like a person - listened to my concerns and explained everything thoroughly - Told me the orthotics were overpriced and offered suggestions to fix my issues Overall, I do not recommend Dr. Michael Amirkai! When my wife had her ankle fractured, she was worried a lot as we live in India and had come here for a vacation. We were unable to get an urgent appointment as normally is the case here. However Dr. Amirkiai went out of his working (consulting) hours and gave us one. After consulting Dr. Amirkiai, my wife was so relaxed that she was in high spirits. Dr. Amirkiai is undoubtedly one of the best podiatrist you can find. He is so caring and professional in his approach. Also he empathizes with the patient's problems. Seeing the dried up skin of my wife's foot, he applied some cream to it and gently rubbed it in. Dr. Amirkiai has been an incredible doctor. I broke my foot a couple months ago, and he walked me through the process thoroughly. He told me I would need surgery and my second opinion-doctor agreed completely. He was able to get me into surgery at my convenience and helped throughout the recovery process. The break healed well and he gave me guidance for what I needed to do to get back to running. As amazing as Dr. Amirkiai is, I would be remiss not to mention his receptionists/nurses. So I had some very positive experiences with Dr. Amirikiai. He is very knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner. He was the only one of many podiatrists who determined that my right leg was ever so slightly shorter than my left and therefore needed a bit of a heel lift. That was a big deal as that was the source of my knee pain. However, I must say I was very frustrated with the way he and his office handled my orthotics. First off, the doctor was supposed to have added a heel lift to my right orthotic. Unfortunately he screwed that up. But I did not wish to deal with the hassle and inconvenience of sending back my orthotic. So I did not bother with the modification. But the part that really got to me was that apparently the doctor's office was having issues with receiving payment from my insurance company. Dr. Amerikiai kept telling me not to worry about it and that insurance would pay because they always do. Well, a year later I received a bill from his office showing the full amount was due by me because my insurance never paid. Unfortunately by then my family had switched insurance companies due to a job change. So the old insurance company had no interest in helping me resolve the issue. And I couldn't even go back to the old employer to ask them to resolve the issue with my old insurance. When I raised this issue with the doctors office, I was told by the front desk that insurance never pays for orthotics. Had Dr. Amerikiai been upfront and told me that from the beginning then I never would have ordered these custom orthotics. While in the end the doctor did agree to adjust my bill I still ended up paying about $350. At the end of the day, I can say that Dr. Amerikiai knows his stuff, but this last experience with his office has left me feeling rather disillusioned. read more

Summary: Easily the best podiatrist I've ever visited. Heavily recommend if you have any issues at all with your foot or ankle. Details: Thought my toe was broken, called Dr. Amirkiai's office mid day and the staff was nothing but helpful, straight forward, and explained the process of their location very well and were straight forward around pricing for my situation with insurance as I am visiting from out of state. They took me in day of and Dr. Amirkiai spent his time with me with detail, no rush, and total care assessing what had happened with my foot. I've had other podiatrists suggest invasive things in the past that were evidently not necessarily but Dr. Amirkiai made sure that all his measures made sense and were the least invasive possible. He tested my foot to know my toe was not broken, turned out to be a case which I had never heard of which just requires one pill a day for 5 days!! Super simple. He taught me all about it, how it is physical stress and diet related, and was just overall the most helpful doctor I have had in a very long time. Literally turned a nightmare situation into something I am educated on how to manage and which he made manageable with easy instructions to follow. This Dr is AMAZING. I took a rather nasty fall four weeks ago. Fear kept me from doing anything for a week. I went to a chiropractor I know and asked him to x-ray for me as the swelling was pretty intense. He did, saw no fracture. Three weeks later, still a lot of swelling. He sent me for an MRI. MRI showed a fracture. I didn't know where to go. Someone said I should go see an orthopedic doctor. I was calling around, but then one of the MD's said anything above the ankle go to an ortho. Below the ankle - Podiatrist is the expert. He gave me the name of Dr. Michael. I did NOT want to have to have surgery. I called for an appointment and they didn't have anything for quite some time. I told the person on the phone I didn't know whether I should be stretching/flexing my foot, if it should be immobilized and I needed to know! She checked with the Dr. and came back and scheduled me the next day during his lunch hour. I went in with my x-rays and my MRI. Scared. The staff is really lovely. Most were headed out to lunch. No one treated me like I was ruining their day. The Dr was nearby and I was thanking them for seeing me on their lunch hour. He was incredibly gracious. During his exam, he was thorough and very, very gentle. He LISTENED to me. By the way, he walked in the room and it was clear he had reviewed my MRI, the MRI report and the x-rays. So refreshing from the doctors who have you fill out ridiculous amounts of history, then walk in the room and ask what you are here for today. Not this doctor!! He took his time with me, he was gentle, he gave me very happy news after all his tests/exams/diagnostics/questions. I am not sure how to express how wonderful, dedicated, knowledgelable, respected, kind, courteous, caring of a doctor he really is. My mom came to him with an ulcer on her foot that was already badly infected. He tried his best to save my moms leg for almost 8 months, unfortunately she had no good amounts of oxygen in her flesh which is the only reason her leg had to come off. If she had had a good amount of oxygen in her flesh than Dr. A would have fixed it. He would call to check up on her and come visit her in the nursing facility. He truly cares. Besides being an extraordinary doctor. His whole office staff is wonderful. My husband also had an issue and had already been to about 5 different doctors for his foot. Dr. A was the only one who suggested a biopsy and figured out what it was very quickly. He is proactive and very diligent. He will forever be our podiatrist. read more

Beware of the insurance FRAUD first! They require a deposit of several hundred $$ to make you their fancy shoe inserts, but they don't pay it back to you even though your insurance statement says that the inserts were covered 100%. Second, there's a bad deal with doctor mixing up your xrays with another client's, promising you a foot surgery because your foot is slightly pronated, but then withdrawing all his statements saying that your chart has a fact that doesn't pertain to you. On behalf of the thousands of patients that Dr. Amirkiai has helped walk again without pain... To address two previous low rating posts, Dr. Amirkiai, first off, is NOT an insurance fraud or anything of the sort. He cannot help if you are too ignorant or stupid to understand your own insurance policies concerning orthotics. Orthotics are very expensive and typically insurance will not cover them. This is a medical doctor. Money is not this man's motivation for practicing medicine. His patients are. This is not some type of goon working at an oil change garage trying to get you to buy a new air filter to get a few extra bucks out of you; It is a purely professional medical prescription. If you were prescribed orthotics then you definitely needed them. If you don't believe that, we'll see how you feel about it in a few years when you are walking like the tin man. The lower ranking comments on this yelp are clearly written by individuals who blabbed away without regard to a person's professional reputation merely because they didn't get what they wanted. Apparently these people expected Jesus Christ himself to immediately relieve their foot pain with instantaneous healing! Shame on you both. At least at a minimum he most likely had enough respect for you to spell your name correctly unlike you have with his. I visited Dr. Amirkiai on referral from my primary care physician concerning severe foot pain. I was seen immediately after I was referred. He identified the problem after careful observation and Q&A. He took x-rays to determine no fractures and provided pain relief in the form of a shot in both feet on site. He then ordered me back for orthotics fitting. Today I visited for the fitting which took place fairly efficiently. The equipment was modern and the Dr. took the opportunity despite heavy office traffic to address my concerns and questions. My wife visited him for basic foot check-up, as she had diabetes. The doctor over charged my insurance for doing absolutely nothing, like cutting some nails and cleaning skins, yes! These charges were refused by my insurance company and now he is trying to charge me $82 for cutting nails and $122 for cleaning skin and threatening me to take to collection process. I am very satisfied with the service my mother and I received from Dr. Amirkiai and his office staff. My mother started having problems with walking. She was seen by her primary care physician who told her she was getting older and her muscles were getting weaker - more exercise was recommended by her doctor. We decided to see Dr. Amirkiai a few weeks ago for a second opinion. After a complete exam and watching my mother walk, he referred my mother to a neurologist (Dr. Andrew Hsu) for treatment of Parkinson disease. The neurologist confirmed Dr. Amirkiai's diagnosis and started treating her Parkinson's disease. I am very thankful to Dr. Amirkiai for his early detection of my mother's illness. read more

My experience here was totally unpleasant. Doctor never informed me about the charges for x-rays and a small tape he pasted on my foot. Before he did anything I asked him twice if those things would cost me. He said its just a tape and there will not be any charge. But after few days I received a bill. I am somewhat an OCD person, so I am going to say this office is very clean and rooms smell fresh. Secondly, the staff are friendly and helpful and was able to call and make an appointment very conveniently. Dr. Amirkiai is very friendly and easy to talk to. During my visit with him, he seemed very knowledgable and confident in his diagnosis. I have been dealing with heel pain and fungal toe nail, for both of which he offered a range of treatments and walked me through each treatment mentioning the benefits and risks.
