Too bad I can't do minus stars. This guy is a true hack. Bungled my cortisone shot because he suddenly pushed the fluoroscope away, insisting that his expertise would lead the way (wrong). Caused nerve damage in my big toe by removing a bone spur. Google says to use surgeon skilled in Cheilectomy technique - my mistake - this guy shouldn't be allowed access to patients. Perhaps he might be OK with toe fungus. I'm so disgruntled, constant tingling and numbness in my big toe. Avoid him at all costs. read more

Denied rehab referrals for my elderly in-law, without even inquiring about or understanding his mobility/strength challenges. It's been a year since the first surgery I had with Dr Caputo, and 9 months since the second. I can't say that everything's perfect right now, because it can take 2 years for full healing. That being said, I'm so glad that it was Dr Caputo that did my feet, and while certain activities (such as rock scrambling) still make my feet hurt, my everyday activities are pretty solid. In fact, I regularly walk 30-40 minutes/day around 4 mph. I was nowhere near that before I saw Caputo! Bottom line about Dr Caputo is this: he knows his stuff, he cares about giving his patients the best possible care, he doesn't pressure you to surgery, and he will answer all your questions about the procedures. read more

Should have listened to one of the previous 1-star reviews. Horrible customer service at this office. I tried to set up an appointment and the first available slot was one month out. Then the office rescheduled me twice, both times notifying me the day before, and was very matter-of-fact and unapologetic about it. If you're a busy working professional, having such a flaky doctor really doesn't work. You also do get put on hold and transferred around a lot - schedule coordinator never seems to be the one answering the phone, weird. read more

I came in because I injured the bottom of my foot and could not walk properly without pain. My co-workers even told me to go and see the doctor because I was limping for such a long time. So I went to Sutter Health on El Camino and this "Doctor" started making fun of me. It ended up being a tread mill injury but he still behaved in an immature manner. I came to see Dr. Caputo after dealing with a mis-diagnosed injury for four months. Dr. Caputo was the 4th doctor I had seen about this issue and he was the ONLY one to finally identify the problem! I have since recommended friends to him and everyone that has seen him has had nothing but positive things to say. Caputo is VERY smart, practical, and sympathetic. Dr. Caputo has been the podiatrist for our family for years. My older child had significant pain even just walking. As a result of his surgery, she was able to play field hockey and even made the varsity team. Currently, my younger child is under his care and we feel fortunate that we have such a wonderful doctor. I love Dr. Caputo! I've had two ingrown toenails removed by him (different toes). Believe it or not, it was about 20 years between appointments (we were both young then)! He's patient and kind and makes you feel comfortable. I hate pain and both times I was worried the procedures would hurt. Turns out I wasted so much effort on being worried... After friends reported having had good experiences with Dr. Caputo (foot surgery for one friend, set another friend's son's broken foot, and both of their dads go to him as well), I scheduled an appointment in 2008 for my dad to see him. My dad walks about 5 miles a day, and was having a few problems with foot soreness, etc, and wanted to make sure he was wearing the right shoes and taking proper care of his feet. Dr. Caputo did an initial evaluation and procedure in the same appointment - super convenient! During my procedure, he was very kind, talked me through/explained the entire process, and gave the local anesthesia enough time and injections to be sure my toe was completely numb. He assured me I wouldn't feel a thing, and he was right! It was a quick, painless procedure preformed by a very knowledgeable and kind doctor. The nurse, Jennifer, was also very attentive and cheerful the entire time. While waiting for the anesthesia to kick in, she hung out in the room with me and we shared stories. Dr, Caputo looked at shoe inserts another doctor had prescribed for me and said, "Those will never let your feet heal." He sent me to a shoe repair shop that would alter the inserts as needed. I was so glad a friend recommended him. He is just as others have noted, a caring, competent, doctor who listens. He is a very easygoing and great guy in routine appointments, but very disciplined and serious when it comes to surgery. He performed surgery on both of my feet on the same day. I injured my ankle in a sports related accident (dislocation and broken fibula). I was referred to Dr. Caputo, a foot and ankle surgeon. At first, I was extremely nervous about my recovery, but Dr. Caputo quickly gained my trust. After two surgeries and several more consultations, I'm convinced that Dr. Caputo is one of the best in the business. He has a great personality, tons of patience, and takes the time to explain the treatment. I feel like I had the best possible care for my ankle injury. To Shan H: you can't blame Dr. Caputo for your difficulty in making an appointment! Yes, it can be trying at times making an appointment at PAMF. However, it's all worthwhile in order to see Dr. C. He's been my Dr. For at least 15 years and will be until he retires. And I live in Reno! He takes the time to listen, you know he cares for his patients. As for his assistant Jennifer, she's great!
