I feel lucky to have found Dr Tahery. This is now my second year of being his patient. Before I found him, I have been a regular visitor of my primary doctor's office, OB GYN and urgent care, and they cannot seem to figure out what was wrong with me. Honestly, I don't understand the negative reviews for Dr. Tahery. Most of the reasons I have read do not constitute a negative review for the doctor. If they overcharge then that's a billing issue it doesn't hinder his ability to diagnose. Complaints about the desk staff does not warrant a 1 star rating. In my experience he was the only doctor who was able to fix my chronic problems that most doctors tried to fix with high dose medicines. I have been problem free for over a year. Now with my first pregnancy, he has been nothing but patient. He answers all ridiculous questions I have, very polite and most of all he knows his stuff. He exudes confidence without being intimidating. He has a very good heart and I felt that he truly cared for my well being. I had a high-risk pregnancy and I never doubted that I was in good hands. I have been seeing Dr. Tahery for over 10 years was first introduced to him when he took over the practice of my doctor who passed away suddenly. Throughout the years I have had situations/ possible reproductive obstacles and would not want to be in the hands of any other doctor. He is kind, professional, funny and is very versed in his field. AVOID this doctor at all costs. I'm not saying he doesn't know his medicine. He is a very smart doctor and the waiting room seems to be full of pregnant women all the time. Yet, if you just need annual health exams, this is NOT the doctor for you. In my opinion he is more interested in making a quick buck rather than taking time to listen to patient's problems. He hears what he needs to and is quick to send you out on your way, especially if you are a cash patient. His staff is TERRIBLE. Pulling teeth is easier than getting someone there to help you. Every time I have asked for copies of my bloodwork, pap smear, etc., they have taken over 3 weeks to mail it out. My results have been in the office for weeks before anyone bothers to call with any news. He is NOT a specialist in PCOS, but was quick to diagnose me with the condition without even checking my hormone levels. Sadly, after going here for two years I have to downgrade my other review to one star and I will never be going back. This doctor is very smart and capable but seems to now have too much on his plate. I came to him with normal female stuff for my annual exam and some minor discomfort. He agreed to run some tests and I would come back in a couple weeks. I came back waited 2 hours for him to see me only to find out the tests were not ran. He agreed to run them again, I called him a week later to follow up and he had not done it. He told me I could come back for with no charge and he would do it but I did not want to waste another 2 hours of my day and at that point I had lost confidence in him. And his staff is horrible. The nurses are ok but the front office and billing people are basically non existent. And I have one of e best insurance plans out there so for me to complain about that its bad. I do not recommend this doctor to any woman that I care for. I had the worst experience of my life time. I hate him with passion and I do not forgive him for what he did to me and how he treated me as his patient with cancer. I was referred to him by my friend and after my experience she left him also. When I was under his care I went for my yearly mammogram and they saw something and I had to go for biopsy and I was so worried waiting for my result from Doctor Taheri after few phone calls from myself and my husband to his office, finally he called me while I was alone in my car driving! This doctor is after your money! He may be knowledgeable, but will give you a huge bill when you're leaving the office. A regular pap smear checkup will end up costing you $703. I was so upset leaving his office. I cant believe he nor his staff discuss the costs of doing unnecessary checkups before doing so. He tells you everything looks great and apparently does more than what you went there for. He did other tests on me while doing my pap and did not even tell me anything or ask me before doing so. When it was time for me to leave... his staff told me to pay $703. I had told his staff that i am a cash patient and i asked exactly what my bill is going to be and they told me $330. We had an incident where I was terribly in distress and Doctor Tahery had personally called the other Doctor and called back within minutes to relieve my distress, calm my nerves and assure me everything will be okay. I will forever be thankful for that. I wish I would have known of him for my first child. He is calm and reassuring in the delivery room. His bedside manner is amazing. In my honest opinion dr. I have been Dr. Tahery's patient for the last 4 and a half years and had both of my kids with him at Cedars-Sinai via natural birth. There really are no words to explain the level of professionalism and compassion he has for his patients. So I was a patient of Dr. Tahery's for many years and thought he was the best. That changed when one day, he was reviewing my test results and told me I tested "positive" for abnormal cells. I looked down at the paper he was holding with the test results and it clearly said "Negative" on it. Dr. Taheri started telling me he would schedule my surgery at the Westwood office. I told him to hold off and he said fine but I couldn't wait much longer. I walked out and asked the receptionist for a copy of my test results. She looked frightened and asked me if the Dr. said I could have it. Now I have never had a Dr. not allow me to have my own test results as it's against the law. I lied and said that he did say he would give me a copy so she went and got it for me. I immediately made an appointment with a new OBGYN and showed them the text results. The new Dr said that the test as in fact Negative and even retested me to be certain. I found out that several of the diagnosis he had made were not accurate and unnecessary procedures were done. I had uterine fibroid and bleeding for 7 months non stop and I went to 4 different gynecologist in Glendale and West LA but no one was able to treat me and I was so anemic that I fainted few times at work and home. 4 doctors told me that I have to have hysterectomy. I went to this doctor and he spent only 10 minutes with me and in those 10 minutes diagnosed me with PCOS and prescribed all these pills and told me to come back to him every month for check ups and refills. Or in other words so he can milk all the money out of my pockets. He came to the conclusion by a simple 1 minute ultrasound, though I'm educated enough to know PCOS isn't that simple to diagnose, I have since gone to 4 other doctors and none of them have diagnosed me with PCOS and they have performed even better procedures to have a clear look at my womb and ruled out PCOS. This doctor like many others sadly is shady and left an impression on me that he sees his patients as walking cash rather than humans. Ladies please do not go to this doctor! They try to rip you off! I don't want to go into too much details, but I saw him 3 times and every time he performed a UNNECESSARY procedure that costs $800! I have never had another OBGYN perform that procedure at ANY of my other visits, but he did every single time just to charge $800 + $500 for the office visit. My insurance clearly told me that "they are not suppose to charge you upfront" and when I told the front office that they just said "yeah, yeah all insurances say that, but that's our office policy" and it's very odd that they have medicine there to give out right away, but boy they do not hesitate on charging you full price for it and his statements are super confusing. disgrace of a Doctor.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...I have been going to Michael Tahery for the past nine years, he has delivered two of my children. I have put him on a petal stool in my mind, I have referred at least a dozen of patience to him....BUT NO MORE.... In December of 2012 I called Doctor Tahery's office to see if they take my insurance and the type of insurance that I have... I was put on hold by the front desk receptionist to verify by his billing department...she came back on the phone and stated yes we do...Prior to my insurance kicking in I went for a few visits because I was pregnant , I paid in full ,cash for all the visits, they actually don't let you leave the office unless you pay in full for your visit at the time.... now, Doctor Tahery has been seeing me for the past 33 weeks of my pregnancy , I have never been asked to pay anything, I have never been given a bill by his office but I did receive (two times) a letter from my insurance that he is not covered by my insurance... so I called the first time in march my insurance and asked what's going on , they explained to me that his billing department has used the wrong TAX ID # and yes he is a provider but he needs to resubmit with the correct tax id #, that everything is fine.....four months pasted by and i received another letter from my insurance again and I called and explained what happened in the past with the tax id # and they looked into it further and they stated no he is not a provider at all with any of the tax id # they have on file. unless i am seen at the hospital as a n emergency patient. at this point i am freaking out...I call his office and speak with Barissa ( person in charge of billing) ... I explain the situation to Barissa and she says and I quote " don't worry, we actually started using an outsourced billing company because the lady that did our billing in the office is no longer with us since march, the new billing department is still not familiar with all of our accounts and files, but we definitely take our type of insurance" .....I thought to myself thank god what a relief...one day later I receive a call from Barissa, and she informs me and I quote " I was just informed by our insurance agent that signed us up that we don't take your type of insurance"...I said how is this possible that you don't know what type of insurance you take???? she stated..."we didn't know there is a difference".... WOW!!!! if they don't know who they take , how am I suppose to know....so I called my insurance and explained the situation and they said that the doctor needs to put in a claim at this point and we can review the situation and see if we can pay him. and that this process will take 7 to 10 business days ... I waited, I call on the 10th day to my insurance they say that only Barissa can inquire about the status, so i call the office and Barissa was suppose to be in later in the day and never came in... I needed an answer because the next day I had an appointment at 9:45 am with the doctor ...they said its okay call in the morning and Barissa will be here at 9am and if you need to be late for your appiontment thats fine. Barissa finally calls me at 9:20 stating that Doctor Tahery will not be seeing you anymore....WHAT!!!! I am 33 weeks pregnant what do you mean...so I asked to speak with the Doctor and he got on the phone angry as hell... I was SHOCKED...this a man that i have been going to for nine years, I have never asked for any discounts or favors , I have always been on time with all my appointments , I have given him and his profession so much respect, why was he talking to me this way???? He basically said , it is your responsibility to know if i can a provider, you should have called the insurance to verify (which by the way I did) , he said billing your insurance is a courtesy, it is not my staffs responsibility to know what type of insurance we accept... at this point i am in such a shock , I said to him "doctor, the insurance is saying from now on they will pay for my visits and delivery, will you still see me and do my delivery?" ..........his answer was" NO!!!, why should i come and delivery your baby when I have not gotten paid for your past visit?, once I get paid for all your visits , I will deliver your baby" ......I have never asked anyone to do anything for free for me, especially my doctor, but his office messed up and he does not want to acknowledge it, he is shifting blame to cover his ass. .. well friends I have no doctor at 33 weeks pregnant and at this point no other doctor wants to accept me as a patient... What happened to being human or code of ethics, I never took him as a money hungry doctor...he would make more money delivering my baby because its a c-section than him getting paid for all the 10min office visits that he has seen me, which did not cost him anything out of pocket just his 10 min time.
