My experience with Dr. Moghimi has been top rate. When a 2002 back injury was no longer responding to Physical Therapy, chiropractic, rest or epidural injections; and I suffered constant right leg sciatic nerve pain making it impossible to workout, walk or stand, I knew I needed surgery. As a 73 year old retired hospital [ER/OR] nurse of 40 years, considering spinal surgery was very scary and I knew it was important for a good outcome to have a good surgeon. I am so grateful that 3 of my friends recommended Dr. Moghimi. He reviewed my MRI with me in detail, took additional x-rays and explained that while surgery was not a first option with back pain, my imaging studies showed both spinal stenosis and severe slippage of both L4 & 5 which made me a candidate for a laminectomy and L4-5 spinal fusion. Dr. Moghimi is a wonderfully intelligent and professional doctor. His thorough review of the recommended procedures and my friends good outcomes gave me confidence that he was the surgeon for me. I had a herniated disk, L4/L5, which was causing severe sciatic nerve pain down my right leg into my foot. It was definitely the worst pain (8-9) I had ever felt in my life. To say it was an emergency would be an understatement since I could barely move and sleep was limited to 15 min increments. Dr Moghimi and his medical staff did an excellent job of obtaining prior authorization from my insurance and fitting me in for surgery within eight days of my office visit. I had my procedure done at St. David's Hospital and I have to say it was the best surgical experience I have had to date and this was my fifth. From the receptionist to the tech who wheeled me out to my car were phenomenal. My leg pain was gone once I awoke from surgery, although there was still lingering numbness, but that was to be expected. My back was sore but significantly more manageable pain then the nerve pain. I was able to stand and walk pain-free within one hour of waking up. I would highly recommend Dr. Moghimi to anyone suffering from back pain. (Please read his resume and experience. A car accident left me with C5-6 and C6-7 disc herniations. I was having severe nerve pain, tingling, and numbness in my neck, arms and legs. After physical therapy determined unsuccessful, my doctor at Central Texas Pain Center ordered an MRI, which revealed a hematoma on my spinal cord from the C5-6 herniation. He then referred me to Dr. Michael Moghimi and I am thankful that he did. I did my research and consulted with three other surgeons prior to choosing Dr. Moghimi to perform the surgery. I am now 6 months out from the Level 2 Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion procedure, with a successful fusion and no nerve pain. Dr. Michael Moghimi -Life Changer!!! MY LIFE CHANGER!!!! After meeting with 2 different back and spine "specialists", and getting different diagnosis from them both, one said it was a bulging disc and the other said L4-L5 spondylolysis spondylolisthesis. I was on the verge of setting up surgery with one of them UNTIL an unfortunate incident put me in the pathway of Dr. Moghimi. After the first 5 minutes with meeting with Dr. Moghimi, my husband and I both knew right away that if anything was going to be done to my back, he would be the one doing it. He took the time to review my X-ray's and MRI, answer all our questions and concerns, which had not been done with the prior two "specialist". Dr. Michael Moghimi operated on my spine on December 18, 2015. I was diagnosed with cervical stenosis with myelopathy. During our initial consultation, Dr. Moghimi said that he usually tries to recommend non invasive methods at first but my critical condition made it necessary to have surgery as soon as possible. He was very professional in telling me what to expect during surgery and after. In a very kind way he explained that he could not guarantee that there was not already some damage done to my spinal cord thus complete recovery might not occur. He did explain though if I did not have surgery there was a very good chance that I would be paralyzed. It was obvious that his knowledge of the spine was great so I decided to place my life in his hands. After coming home, I called his office with other concerns. His nurse talked to him about this and he called me back personally and it was decided to move the surgery up a couple of weeks. During his daily follow up visits at the hospital and 2 weeks after the surgery, Dr Moghimi was very compassionate and spent all the time I needed answering questions and concerns that I had. I truly can't say enough good about Dr. Michael Moghimi. Very pleasant to talk to and finally, a doctor that explains all of these high medical terms in simple, human terms. I am a 65 year old male. I was diagnosed by another orthopedic from Houston with Spinal Stenosis and a couple of disc problems. My neurosurgeon already had it set up that I was going to do my surgery with one of his partners (orthopedic) in Houston. I really hate going to Houston, especially the traffic. I could have set up something in nearby Victoria but I really wanted to go to Austin, since I've had my heart surgery there. I did a lot of research and after all done, after reviewing my X-rays and my MRI, Dr. Michael was definitely the one. I will recommend my son and anyone else who has major back problems. Less than 3 weeks after the fusion (L3, 4, and 5) I was feeling no pain that I felt for 6 solid years. I have an appt. next couple of days with Dr. Michael and can't wait to hear the results. For those of you considering spine surgeons, I want to share my positive experience with Dr. Michael Moghimi. I was suffering mightily from nerve pain that stretched from my neck to thumb. With X-rays and an MRI, Dr. Moghimi determined that I was a textbook case for C5-C6 ACDF surgery. He performed surgery two weeks ago and I feel fantastic. Prior to selecting Dr. Moghimi, I saw another physician who did not think I needed surgery right away. I'm not saying the other physician made a mistake, but I believe Dr. Moghimi was more certain about the diagnosis and what should be done to relieve my pain. It turned out Dr. Moghimi was correct in his recommendation to have surgery immediately. His team is excellent and the communication with them has been clear and easy (they are also pleasant!). They provided me the opportunity to ask all my questions before and after surgery. His team returns calls quickly. Having had two other surgeries last year, I was reticent to jump back into the operating room, but I am glad I did and wish I had done this earlier. 5/25/19 I have to post an update review after watching a spinal pain electric signal device ad on TV. My 100% successful lumbar surgery on 2/20/2017 is still 100% physically appreciated and pain free. No additional therapy was needed, and I put myself through the wringer as I desire. Hiking 4 miles over broken ground and at other times getting on my knees and doing 60 full roll outs with an 18 pound dumb bell for added resistance. My surgery was to relocate every dislocated spinal part that was cutting my nerve sheath in half. But after 5 fusions, and a small plastic (PEEK) cage retainer with 4 small titanium screws during a 4 &1/4 hour operation, done by the finest orthopedic neck and spine surgeon, assisted by the finest thoracic vascular surgeon, in the finest hospital. I awoke to a new life. This was an open front and back bodily intervention, as serious as open heart surgery. And I must say 100% success sometimes seems understated. I am 72 years old! My experience with Dr Moghimi has been remarkable. From the time I first contacted his office, until today, 6 weeks post surgery, I have nothing but praise for Dr Moghimi and his staff. Dr. Moghimi is my God-send. I've had problems walking with leg and back pain for years. I have seen many spine surgeons about this problem and I have even been offered surgery previously. Knowing you have a herniated cervical disc is scary enough without the fear of finding a doctor who will take the time to listen to your needs, worries, and expectations. Dr. Moghimi is that doctor! He was very compassionate and listened to all my complaints and fears and assured me that he will do what needs to be done to correct the issue. Beware of this doctor. He left a screw in my sister's nerve canal during a spinal fusion, among other botched surgeries he performed. When she was screaming in pain post surgery, declaring that something was amiss, Moghimi refused to do a followup MRI for 3 WEEKS (!), and finally discovered the mistake. In order to remove the screw, he performed surgery through her stomach, and the scars are absolutely horrific. My sister spent years in pain, unnecessarily suffering at the hands of a doctor she trusted. We finally found a surgeon willing to repair all the damage of 2 separate failed fusions. Her new doctors have said they have done a lot of repair on Moghimi's mistakes. Please PLEASE beware. read more

Dr. Moghimi is the most easy to talk to doctor I have ever seen. He explained my condition to me in detail and in a way I can understand. He personaly went over my x-rays and MRI with me, and described my problem and the surgery that would need to be done. He never pushed anything on me and gave me reading material and even suggested others doctors for a second opinion. He treated me like family and I really appreciate everything. Dr. Moghimi performed a spinal fusion a year ago after I suffered terrible pain in my legs for months before it occurred to me that the problem was not my legs. The surgery was a complete success. He also cleaned out some other damaged vertebrae above the fusion site. I recently had my one-year followup to find complete healing. I had a 90-day healing period and I've been playing pickle ball 3-4 times a week ever since with zero issues. Dr. Moghimi was a great surgeon and physician caring for me the whole time. My experience with Dr. Moghimi's office was superior from beginning to end. Not only is the office conveniently located, but parking was a breeze as well. I went to see dr moghimi for pain in the left waist and back area. I had suffered with this pain for at least a year. A round of physical therapy just wasn't helping so an MRI was ordered. The MRI showed L4 L5 problems. He performed a fusion and a laminectomy in September of 2016. The pain in that area along with the nerve pain down my rear and leg area is gone. He is great doctor that gets straight to the point yet still comes across as kind I highly recommend him to anyone. read more
