Where to even begin... I wish that I were able to give more than 5 stars because Michael deserves so much more than that. He brought us on the most amazing adventure we've ever experienced. He took our simple elopement ideas and elevated them to give us a truly magical evening that we will never forget, and one that far exceeded our already-monumental expectations. Michael thoroughly studies/explores his shooting locations beforehand and comes up with backup plans in the event of inclement weather or crowds. He gets to know the spaces intimately so he can provide his couples with the absolute best experience they could imagine. It didn't feel like a photoshoot at all. From his posing tips, to his funny suggestions, to just watching him roll around on the ground or jump into a bush to get that perfect angle that he's looking for, it was truly an enjoyable, fun experience from the very first second we met at the trailhead, to when we said our goodbyes after our session. It felt like we were all just hanging out. The icing on the cake was having Michael's wife, Renee, and their two Frenchies, Eben and Lassen, join us for the hike to the top of our elopement location. Eben is 12 and has been battling cancer on and off throughout his life, and, as someone who reads Michael's wife's dog blog about the boys online, it was such an honor to meet the rest of his pack and have them spend our special day with us! Michael and Renee are two of the most wonderful people we've had the pleasure of meeting, and I can't recommend Michael enough for those who are considering an adventure elopement. It is hard to put into words just how special our elopement experience was with Michael. It was truly the most special experience of our lives (big statement but 100% true). We feel so lucky to have found Michael and are hoping to pass it on! We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to Italy with Michael and went all in on an epic two-day elopement shoot in the Dolomites. If you've ever considered an adventure elopement, I cannot recommend taking the leap with Michael enough! He is an absolute pro and planned every little detail, from the location to the timing to the poses- literally all we had to was show up. He had back up plans for each little detail (weather, lighting, crowds) and was quick to make decisions- which got us an epic rainbow shot! And we had SO MUCH FUN! It was truly the best day of our lives and getting to spend it with Michael and his fabulous partner, Renee, was icing on the cake. They are such wonderful and kind people that we now consider friends. Did I mention we had SO MUCH FUN?! Now, on to the photographs. We knew Michael was a brilliant photographer- his portfolio speaks for itself. But the images that he captured for us BLEW US AWAY. They are true pieces of art that we will cherish forever! Mike Morse photographed our wedding in April 2008 and he did a truly spectacular job. My wife and I considered the photography one of the most important aspects of our wedding and we couldn't have done better. Mike's skill as an artist is undeniable and to have him there was a delight. He was a really nice guy and had a smile on his face from beginning to end. Mike's skill as a photographer is incredible. Mike, on the other hand, was absolutely respectful and courteous to everyone. Our guests even had a great time getting to know him. He interfered with the natural flow of the wedding as little as possible and many people didn't even know he was there. Nevertheless, he captured each pivotal moment and many others hidden between. When it did come time for him to take charge, Mike had a natural authority that was cheerful, firm, and very respectful. His clear communication and command allowed us to take all of our amazing group shots very efficiently. Mike did a really unique photo shoot for us. It was a house concert, featuring Jars of Clay, in order to showcase the work of Blood:Water Mission, a non-profit humanitarian organization that works to fight the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa. Mike displayed a wide range of styles of photography. The photos we received ranged from beautiful classic photography to progressive artistic photography, many photos of which I would not even be able to imagine having in the album. He captured the critical moments of the event that needed to be captured along with many unexpected nuggets of beauty, color, and expression. What I also really appreciated about his work was that the people from the event really enjoyed his presence. Too often photographers get in the way of the event itself and become an annoyance to the guests. Mike was pleasant and interactive at the right moments and seemingly absent, behind the scenes, when he needed to be out of the way. We are grateful for the work he did on that special evening. Mike shot our wedding in Solvang. He did an amazing job capturing the details of our event and the location (a family friend's farmhouse on top of a hill). From close ups on people's faces and the cake, to distance shots of the ceremony, he has the equipment and skill to do it all. Mike also color corrects and edits the pictures before sending them to you, so they look even better. Mike was also phenomenal at managing people with a friendly, laid back but effective style. With a smile on his face, he coached flower girls and elderly relatives into smiling for the camera. After a decade? or more, he is still so excited about photography that as the sun set, and our couple photos were done, he grabbed my sister and her husband and shot a bunch of pics in that special light. They really loved them and it shows Mike goes the extra mile. He's also a humanitarian photographer who goes overseas to document disaster relief efforts. Mike is a great guy!! read more

Hello, my name is Pamela and one of the happiest days of my life was June 7, 2009. That's the day I married my high school sweetheart. We have travelled all over the world, and yet found a place near our home in San Diego that felt like a destination wedding to Tahiti! We had a steel drummer play while we walked down the aisle, we even had our dog Baxter (wearing a red tie , of course!) in the wedding. We said our vows in front of a waterfall while our friends held white parisols to stay out of the heat.We did the Sand Ceremony while our friend was the officiant and also the DJ. The wedding colors were straight out of Morrocco: deep reds, rich purples and dark oranges... The reception was in an outdoor tent, and the name cards were actually rocks we had gathered from the beach we love with each person's name handwritten in gold... We surprised our guests with a bellydancer performance. And I even played a practical joke on my new husband, telling all the girls in the audience that he is taken now and if they still have a key to his apartment, they need to bring it up to the table and drop in into the bowl... I had planted about 25 keys out in the crowd earlier in the day so all the girls stood up with their keys... So funny!!! Even the bellydancer pulled a key out of her bra before she closed her gold wings around us so we could share a kiss...We danced all night and when it was time to leave, our friends and family blew bubbles as we climbed in to the limo... I am telling all of the lovely details that made our wedding our own because Mike Morse, my photographer for hire, and also my long time friend, captured Every Single Moment to PERFECTION! He got the dog with his shy smile and his tie dragging down the aisle, he got the group of girls with their keys while Dan was laughing and looking around asking "Who's idea was this?!" He got the dancers entrance with the gold wings wide open and my auntie dancing with her like she was in heaven! He got the rocks on the table, some close up and at super creative angles... The pictures that are my absolute favorite are Mike's own surprise: The dancing pictures could have looked really average and like any other persone's wedding pictures, but Mike's keen eye for lighting and spontaneous jumping through the bushes to capture the perfect look on someone's face, and adding in his professional love for photography, he did something that I can only descibe as twisting the camera in a slow motion way to make the lighting add stretched lines and almost fuzzy look to show how fun and exciting this day is... it looked like we were at a Las Vegas Nightclub on New Year's Eve! Love every shot and truly appreciate the unexpected style along with the traditional type photos. Our entire family loved working with Mike and he made everyone feel comfotable and like they made a new friend that night. I recommend him whole heartedly for your wedding. I cannot think of a better wedding photographer! My husband and I really felt like photos were one of the most important aspects of our wedding day - they are the piece we get to have to remember our day for the rest of our lives, and Mike did SUCH an incredible job capturing it all! Not only did he get all of the traditional shots in a way that was effortless (my husband and I and family didn't even have to think about it on the day of, he just took care of it), but he also added his own artful flare to each and every photo and got some creative and striking "non-traditional" shots as well. The colors, the backgrounds, the poses - when I look at our photos now I feel like we were all models at a fabulous photo shoot! ;) Our wedding got some unexpected rain, but he put us totally at ease - he changed his plan on a dime, and used it to our advantage to get some spectacular "rain" shots with umbrellas, under awnings, and the beautiful gray, dewy backdrop. I recently hired Michael for an offsite client driven weekend in Yosemite. His difficult task was to photograph 110 people in 3 hours - family units, kids and parents in multi positions and groups. It was not an easy task, 3 hours of constant shooting and working with all ages, and all personalities under a specific time frame. The key component was that these pictures were going to be given to our best clients as gifts. I can not thank him enough and can not stress enough how thrilled my Company was, as well as the clients with the finished photos.
