After 4 or 5 consultations with other orthodontists, I went to see Dr. Guymon. The office is conveniently located across the street from Meridian Middle School. The office is super fun! They have a small arcade with video games from the 80's that you can play while you are waiting for your appointment. There are phone chargers in the waiting room for just about any phone. They even have a step & repeat that you can use when taking a selfie! Next to the step and repeat is a question of the month. When you answer the question you are entered into a drawing for different prizes (gift cards, for example). Once your kids are done with their braces Dr. Guymon gives you a delicious gourmet caramel apple & you get to sign the wall. The walls in the treatment area is covered with writing from everyone who completed their braces treatment. It's super cool! Another nice bonus is that they have a soft serve ice cream machine & the kids (and parents) are able to grab an ice cream cone on their way out when their appointment is done! I had an appointment to get some pretty decent amount of work done on my teeth and the office mysteriously was temporarily closed with no explanation and no notification. Same thing happened to my husband. We were able to get ahold of someone to find out where we were supposed to go and the guy wasn't very helpful and told us he didn't know yet. Over a year ago, our family dentist (Eagle Smiles) recommended we seek an ortho consult for our son (9 at the time). Dr Fowler practices within their office, however he also has his own private practice. We did have our initial consult at Eagle Smiles, but when Dr Fowler said we should schedule a follow up I had already determined I would like to do so at their private practice. Primarily because I felt it would allow us a more personal experience with him and his staff, but also because I assumed it would be much easier to schedule appointments in the future. I have to say both assumptions were spot on! Scheduling an appointment was far easier and quicker to get in. And Dr Fowler and all of his staff are just fabulous to work with. Getting braces when you are 10 can be kind of scary and overwhelming. They do such a great job of explaining everything and allowing my son to be involved. Everyone is very friendly and personable. It's very obvious Dr Fowler and his team care about their patients. My husband also commented that he felt really comfortable with how things were explained at our initial meeting. For him it's not about how much something costs it is about explaining why it is a good investment and how you plan to accomplish the goal. We are just about 1 month in in our estimated 2 year journey, so we've still got a ways to go. But I think we are feeling really good about where we are going!

It was hands down the worst dental experience I've had. I told her I require more numbing juice than most and she wouldn't give me any more after I was saying I was in pain. I alerted the assistant that I was in pain and the dentist kept going. The temporary crown fell off two days after it was put on and the permanent doesn't fit my night guard that I wear. Ever since this procedure that side of my mouth has been painful to chew on. Makes me wonder if I actually needed the procedure or if they needed the money, it wasnt cheap. There was a sign that said check in either side of the wall so I stepped around the wall to check in on the other side and some guy behind the counter said in rude tone to go check in on the other side. I've had one visit and the people were very friendly. The front desk and getting checked in was a very good experience and she was quite lovely. I felt I got good care although I felt I did need to advocate for myself on a few minor things. I didn't want them polishing my teeth before the hygienist had completed her scaling. It is not a good practice to polish teeth before all the plaque has been removed. They have quite a few staff members that do different things. They have two hygienist and then they have assistance that do the polishing. You can request having one person do the scaling and the polishing, but they can only accommodate that on certain days due to the lack of staffing?? So for my next visit, I will have one person do it all. They were quite accommodating. I think I'm scheduled with a different dentist for my next visit. I think I will see her and see how I like her. She is newer in her career, but I feel I might like to give her a shot. The jury is still out for me. I'll update in 6 months.
