I've been a patient for years and while personally he is a very nice person, I had a terrible experience today and will find a new physician closer to home. I had an appointment 2 weeks ago and the office called to reschedule my appointment, which I did. I had a 9:50 appointment and was in the waiting room for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I was finally called into the back and was waiting in a room for another hour with no explanation or telling me how much longer until I finally see the doctor so I left. After working a 12 hour shift overnight and a 45 minute drive there I was exhausted & frustrated and left. Again as a person he's very nice but the office is run poorly. read more

Hands down the best obgyn I have ever had. Thorough with precautionary follow ups, takes time to sit and go over test results or sono results. Calming and reassuring bedside manner. Staff is always helpful with any insurance issues. Yes, sometimes your visit takes longer than anticipated due to unforeseen emergencies but I would wait hours for the quality of care I receive. Dr Polcino has been my OB/GYN since 2016. Have gone to him for all 3 of my pregnancies, and I cannot say enough good things! His office staff is so friendly and helpful, and he is an absolute delight!! Very calm environment and just so down to earth. Only caveat is he does not deliver babies anymore so he works closely with Dr Trivedi in Islip, so around 24ish weeks you start to have a few visits with him who will ultimately deliver your baby. I also have nothing but positive things to say about him and his practice as well. 11 out of 10 stars!!! read more

Dr. Mike is a class act. Took me in as a new patient the same day; and even though they double booked me in order to squeeze me in, i barely waited at all. I was immediately treated like family. Wonderful bedside manner, listens to what you have to say, never rushes or judges you, he genuinely cares about what you have to say. I will never go anywhere else, even though his office is a little far from me. The office itself is beautiful, very clean and comfortable waiting room, super nice staff also. Dr.Polcino is one of the sweetest doctors I have ever had. He's funny and caring and does everything he can to make you feel comfortable. Likewise, his staff is also very kind. I met with a staff member of his, I believe her name was Elaine, and it felt like I was talking to an old friend. Nothing seems to be too uncomfortable that you can't ask them about or talk about! I came to see Dr. Polcino with severe postpartum depression as I read that he was an expert on hormones and was impressed by all of his very positive reviews. Unfortunately my appointment with him did not go well at all. He was belittling and condescending. I hope that he is treating most of his patients with more respect than he did me. read more

Just visited Dr. Polcino today first time for an emergency treatment. I am very grateful that the office was able squeeze me for an appointment just a few hours after I called. As stated in other reviews that the office is clean and the staffs are super friendly. Most importantly Dr. Polcino is amazing as he genuinely listens to what patients have to say and he interacts with you. I want to start off by saying was very happy with Dr. Polcino as my Gyno. I even referred a good friend and my sister to him. However, when I started seeing him more frequently after I became pregnant; I became very frustrated with various issues: lost faxes, rude behavior, long wait times, testing errors, lack of patience from the staff - overall I was no longer comfortable continuing as a patient. I am going to list some scenarios in detail below. The wait times are always long (over an hour). He informed me he would only see me up to 30 weeks and then I would switch to another doctor. I found this odd/inconvenient, but I always had a lot of confidence in Dr. Polcino so I stayed. They had me come in frequently during my first trimester and always performed transvaginal ultrasounds. They also started detecting the heartbeat transvaginally very early on, which another practice later informed me - is no longer recommended that early. Dr. P sent me to a maternal fetal medicine office for all sonos and tests -- after the first trimester nothing was done in his office other than to consult with him on results and a nurse would use Doppler to find the heartbeat. Once a nurse asked me if I felt the baby moving at about 14 weeks , when I said no she made a face and said she doesn't like to hear that (this upset me). Meanwhile from what I understand it's perfectly normal not to feel the baby that early (especially your first). I also found out I have an anterior placenta which acts as a cushioning and can delay feeling the baby's movements until a bit further along (I was also assured this is perfectly normal by another practice). The same nurse commented once when she couldn't find the heart beat right away "don't start crying - I'm bad at this". I had a gender reveal party planned based around when my genetic testing/blood was being drawn and the blood was taken in the wrong vial on TWO separate occasions so the lab would not complete the testing. After the first two vials were used by mistake, I was upset because of the party I had scheduled. Dr P tried to seem empathetic but once I asked a question, he immediately got up and called in a nurse to deal with me as if he couldn't be bothered. He also ordered the same genetic testing I had prior to pregnancy so the lab refused to process that part of the test since it was a duplicate. They would however, process the gender test since that can obviously only be done after one becomes pregnant (once it was supplied to them in the correct vial of course.) Once the blood was finally taken and sent in the proper vial (3rd time around), I was told they believed my results would still come in time for the party so I kept it as scheduled. I kept in touch with the staff all week (sometimes multiple times a day). Someone called the afternoon of the party after some guests had already arrived with the results - I was relieved and even left a gift at the office for the receptionist I dealt with. She called me to thank me and told me the fax with my results had actually been there since the day before, but was misplaced. I could not believe she told me that after I had been dealing with them all week long. After that, I had to see a dermatologist for a rash. The dermatologist recommended a cream but faxed to Dr P because she wanted it cleared by my OB since I'm pregnant. When I called Dr P's office the staff said they never received anything. The dermatologist informed me they confirmed the fax was received and when I called back P's office, they had the fax all along. They gave me a hard time about giving me the info to the point that the dermatologist had to call and speak directly to Dr. Polcino. Every time I called with a question the staff treated me as an annoyance. It was impossible to ever speak to the doctor or even get a call back. If I asked a follow up question to whoever I had on the phone, they would pass the phone to someone else without any warning as if I was so difficult to deal with. They also had a tendency to talk over me without letting me finish my thought/question. Overall - I became too frustrated to continue as a patient there. I was upset because, going into this pregnancy I was so glad thinking I already had a great doctor. I switched to a new OB at around 20 weeks. I personally never would have expected to experience these situations with Dr. Polcino. I always felt comfortable and appreciated him when dealing with him in the GYN capacity. I'm not sure why he continues to practice as an OB when he transfers you to someone else after 30 weeks and sends patients elsewhere for majority of tests/sonos for the time you are seeing him (before 30 weeks). His staff is rude and unorganized. read more

This was by far the worst experience I have ever encountered at a medical office. I started seeing this office when i found out I was 4 weeks pregnant, and i was in this office more than 6 times. My insurance was being billed as an outpatient visit & emergency visits when neither of these were true and i got no explanation from the staff on why this has happened. I have waited for an appointment on more than one occasion for more than an hour, and my last visit was almost a 2 hour visit . I was diagnosed with a subchorianic bleed and sent to an imaging center to get a better idea what was gong on with higher resolution machines. During my next visit (7 days later ) I asked how my testing looked, and was told by the doctor he has not looked. UNREAL!!!!. From this moment i knew this was not the place for me at all! I went back to my last appointment and waited almost 2 hoursto be told they needed more blood for a test they forgot to add to my labs after they took 13 vials of blood the week prior and i was held responsible for the idiotic 10$ blood draw fee once again. I have never been charged a fee on top of the office visit to have my blood drawn ! upon the doctor walking in the door he asked if everything was okay, obviously it was written all over my face i was so fed up with this office. I preceded to tell dr. P i was unhappy wight he office, he never asked why just immediately said okay ill have your chart copied and you can go elsewhere. Then he told me there was some blood results that were out of range that were of extreme concern to me. When i asked for explanation of these results i was asked " should i explain them, or should your new doctor" no compassion at all !! he knew i was upset and made a statement no medical professional should ever say to a patient . I had my chart copied and was so upset, crying inconsolable and not one staff member asked if i was okay. On top of that the front desk SUCKS!!!! they are beyond rude , they argued with me in the packed waiting room over insurance and billing . There was one nice women with reddish/ brown hair the rest were awful . Needless to say I had the worst experience of my life in this office. I cried for an entire weekend and could barely eat because of the lack of empty this doctor and his staff showed me . read more
