Dr. Delgado and his entire staff are wonderful. Each member of the team was very caring and helpful. The MA helped with getting my chart up to date. I then was able to get an X-ray done that same day in the clinic to help with diagnosis. Dr. Delgado was right on time and so easy to talk to. I recently had dual hip replacement with Dr. Delgado. My first surgery was January 3, 2024 and I just finished my second surgery on the other side of my body on March 20, 2024. Both surgeries were highly successful. Dr. Delgado knows exactly what he's doing. He's a perfectionist. He cares about his patients, and takes a keen interest in who they are, at least, in my case. A true professional as he took the time to answer any questions that I had, and calm any fears that I may have had. He told me exactly what to expect, and that's exactly what happened. Note the one star review. I also had a bad experience with the appointment clerk at the front desk. I had a follow up appointment with doctor Delgado. The clerk told me that he does not accept Medicare (wrong, he does). She told me it would cost me about $200 to see the doctor. "Sorry" she said. It appears she is a mother hen who believes she is the CEO! I wrote 2 letters to the Doctor. I am sure neither one reached his hand. It has been one year since my hip transplant. It still is a serious problem. I cannot bend and cannot even put on my socks nor any other function. Still soreness despite considerable physical therapy. Doctor told me on my first follow up that I developed bone growth and it should be monitored. The second follow up was negated by the clerk. Consider yourself lucky if you had been, or going to be, treated by Dr. Delgado, especially if you have had/will need a hip or pelvic surgery. I can verify, based on my own experience, how great of an artist he is while being an amazing surgeon. I fractured my pelvis in a bad motorcycle accident. The surgery's before and after x-rays shows the amazing job Dr. Delgado has done at aligning and fixing the three fractures, using three long screws without opening me up, but just through two fairly small cuts. 3.5 miles into a Half Marathon at age 71 on Sunday I felt a pop a few inches above my knee and hobbled back to the starting line thinking my running career was over. Was able to get an appointment on Tuesday with Dr Delgado. They took some Xrays to be sure but fortunately just a tear or strain and no surgery required - whew! Dr Delgado listened to my history and story patiently and gave me great advice for my recovery. Dr. Delgado is an incredible Orthopedic Doctor and Hip Surgeon. He is confident, he listened to me and sat with me so that I could understand what my surgery would entail. This was difficult for me. I am only 33 years old and I had no pain. It started in April, when I was diagnosed with an Avascular Necrosis in my hip. It was an incidental finding and idiopathic in nature because there is no answer for why this happened to me. Just that part of my hip had died. My surgery was in May and Dr. Delgado SAVED MY HIP!!! I did not need a hip replacement because it was caught early. This doctor also replaced my mom's hip and she was walking unassisted in under a week. Dr. Delgado is amazing and I would rate him with 10 stars if I could. Thank you Dr. Delgado for your outstanding care, for saving me from the pain I would have experienced had you not performed my surgery and for taking care of my family, too. For those of you who only read the first line of a review, please know that you do not need to look any further for an incredibly talented surgeon!!!! I think if you are reading this review, you are too looking for an orthopedic surgeon to operate on you. So I thought I would share with you my experience with Dr. John Delgado. I should start by telling you that I am 60 years old and that I heal incredibly well and quickly. My hip replacement surgery was no different. I was walking without any assistance at 4 days around my home and by 6 days everywhere else. By two weeks post surgery, I had full range of motion and was able to walk up the flight of stairs cautiously, but normally in Dr. Delgado's building. My incision is tiny, maybe two inches and is now barely visible 9 months post surgery. However, this outcome cannot happen if the surgeon operating on you doesn't do a good job. But Dr. Delgado isn't just a good surgeon, but a GREAT orthopedic surgeon who is so incredibly skilled, in particular, in the field of hips and pelvis's. He is the only pelvic trauma surgeon in Thousand Oaks. He cares about his patients, works hard to make the smallest of incisions which makes his job harder, but his patients recovery better with the least amount of scaring and less pain. Dr. Delgado told me after surgery, before I left the hospital, that I would see some swelling and bruising. But at my two week follow up, I remember asking him "so where is the swelling and the bruising?" I had none. Physical therapy is important to any recovery, so I put in the time and effort, and today, if I did not have this little scar, no one could convince me that this metal prosthesis isn't my own hip. It is so great to be out of the severe pain I was in prior to surgery. Thank you Dr. Delgado for you expertise, for doing my amazingly successful hip replacement and for taking such good care of me!!! I have nicknamed my new hip "JD" after you because you rocked my surgery!!! You deserve more than 5 stars!!!! PS The office staff is amazing and I have been seen in this office for more than a decade. They go out of their way to get me seen and work around my schedule. First, I have to preface my review that it is wholly based on the front desk personnel. I never got to experience Dr. Delgado due to the personnel nor will I be returning as my first impression of the office as a new patient, was horrible. I called on a Monday to see if I could see Dr. Delgado that week. The woman at the front desk whom I was speaking with said that there was a 10:30 a.m. appt available two days later on Wednesday, however, she would have to confirm this with the doctor and that she would call me and let me know either way whether it worked or didn't work. I never received a message so the morning of my appt, I called the office to confirm and make sure we were still good to go at 10:30. The lady on the other end confirmed and that they will see me at 10:30. I get to the office and sign in and 2 minutes after sitting down, they call me to the desk window and told me rudely that the doctor will not be able to see me and that they told me they would call me and confirm. I let them know that I never received a message and that I always have my phone with me since it is a work line and that I checked my voicemail. I then told them that I had confirmed my appt that morning and a woman in their office confirmed that it was good to go. The woman who said she called me was rude and said, "you did?" That was when the woman who I had apparently spoken to heard our discussion and had confirmed the appt turned from where she was sitting and said that she did confirm with me because she saw my name on the schedule. The rude one, that supposedly called me, says, "well, I wrote it in pink so.." Not sure what this means other than maybe that it is "tentative" if in pink, but that had no relevance to me. They were very rude and never apologized for confirming that day. It was almost like I put them out even though I drove the 30 minutes (1 hr round trip) to meet with this physician. I was baffled by this treatment and the lack of responsibility on their part to own up to their mistake. If I have to go through those type of individuals, who work in patient care, before I see the physician, then forget it. The interaction with them was unprofessional without any regard to me or my time. Will not be returning or referring. read more
