I've been to Savannah's a couple of times before, and they never disappoint. We were in National Harbor on vacation, and of course--with kids in tow--we had to stop in and let them explore all the gooey goodness. Funny enough, they made a beeline straight for the ice cream instead of the candy... probably because we had already been it It's Sugar earlier that day! They tried a mix of flavors--birthday cake, wildberry sorbet, cookies & cream, butter pecan--and I went with mint chocolate chip. Every single one was delicious! The ice cream was creamy, flavorful, and definitely hit the spot. And let me just say--I appreciated the pricing. For the area, it was very reasonable. Not over-the-top expensive like Ben & Jerry's, so that was a win! Now for my part... I couldn't leave without trying a few treats. I grabbed a couple of truffles--raspberry milk chocolate, white chocolate, and a few others--and they were all rich, smooth, and delicious. But BABY... that giant turtle candy?! Whew! It was EVERYTHING. Crispy, fresh pecans, buttery caramel, and perfectly blended milk chocolate--hands down the perfect after-dinner treat. And don't sleep on the caramel popcorn with pecans--sweet, crunchy, and downright addictive! The service was excellent! The young ladies working the counters were patient, helpful, and friendly, which made the whole experience even better! Overall, if you're in the National Harbor area--or anywhere you spot a Savannah's Candy Kitchen--do yourself a favor and stop in. You are absolutely in for a treat!

Dolce & Bean focuses on chocolates, macarons, gelato and a few other dessert items…read more We were greeted warmly by a kind gentleman. After taking a look at the candy, gelato and desserts, we settled on key lime pie. The key lime pie was pretty good, though it was perhaps a little too sweet and the filling rather dry. Because we were first time customers, the shopkeeper offered us each a piece of complimentary candy. The candy had a shell filled with a confection containing Japanese citrus yuzu fruit. The shell was coated with dark chocolate. I'm just going to say this was the tastiest, most delightful candy I've ever sampled. Dolce & Bean also sells attractively designed packages of candies. These would make good gifts. We absolutely will be back for more candy and want to try the gelato. One minor thing is that the shop was chilly and I had to put my hoodie on. But heck, aren't most restaurants and stores around the DMV freezing cold in the summer?

I have a suspicion the owner is the one who took our order and served us. He also gives out free samples of chocolate if you're a first time customer - which of course made me want more! I'd definitely return to support this small (and delicious) small business. Oh & I got a green tea macaron - yum!

Either way I just found Lily's Chocolate & Coffee while venturing up and down King Street, and well with the help of Yelp because this was a plan to visit later in October. But, I decided my kiddos needed a treat. Located on a corner you walk into hues of pink, florals and the smell of chocolate and coffee. I became immediately distracted by the toppings and melted chocolate. But, when I snapped out of it, I was able to place my order. I opted for the Dubai chocolate inspiration over strawberries. If I remember correctly it was around $20 five or take. The cafe is so cute. It is small and if crowded be prepared to navigate that. There is bathrooms inside but, I do not know if it is for customers or not, as they were locked when we were there. The staff were just starting for the day. But they were helpful, kind and ready to roll. Once we received our order we sat down and dug right in. The strawberries were fresh, large and draped over in chocolate, pistachio cream and katifia. This is not my first time having Dubai chocolate or Dubai inspired chocolate. I thoroughly enjoy it over strawberries. There is just something about chocolate ad strawberries. Overall a wonderful place. I highly recommend visiting

The Pionir Honey Cakes also caught my eye, and they were priced fairly at $4.79 for a bag. In fact, the total for those three specialty items was less than $15. So many of their imported food items looked delicious, but I would need to do more research to know exactly what they are. This place is a unique find and maybe someday they will expand out to add a few more aisles of great stuff!

I just bought two jars of Romanian zacusca yesterday and two frozen packets of mititei sausage today. No issues no problems. I couldn't find either anywhere close by. I apologized that I couldn't properly pronounce what I wanted. They laughed and helped me find both items. She apparently walked in and walked out based on I don't know what. She should have adopted a better attitude. It a great store that has stuff I have not been able to find anywhere that is so close it's ridiculous. At least she was honest and said she walked in and out without interacting with the staff. I don't think she has been to Europe or anywhere else. Please take her "review" off the front page because it is based on no interaction, no purchase, nothing except she has a bad feeling. Get a grip and move on before you trash a perfectly good resource you haven't given a chance. Guy Philbin

FSG is sandwiched between One Good Tern Wild Bird store and Simply Fish restaurant in an odd layout of a strip mall off Quaker and Braddock in Alexandria. They have a vast selection of wines, ports, cheeses, caviar, and breads. What keeps us going back, and a lot of our friends talk about this, too, is that there is not a hint of pretention there. The owners are so very helpful, patient and kind. The prices are also comparable to bigger stores and chains. And, of course, they do generous case discounts. We normally buy cases of the Le Petit Duc La Porte (glad I'm typing it because I can't pronounce it) and we get a better price at Fern Street Gourmet than what they're selling it for at Whole Foods. Off-street parking is almost always available here. I know they do tastings, too, but have never been to one. If you're looking for a nice pairing for a special dinner or holiday meal but don't want to feel looked down upon like in some other wine joints, check out Fern Street. Clare, from Tallula wine bar, works here part-time, too, and really knows her stuff.

Second best sandwiches I have ever had, but best on the East coast…read more I'm in Arlington on business from the West Coast and was looking for a quick lunch spot when I stumbled into this little hidden gem. I've eaten at plenty of delis over the years, but Eddie's Little Shop completely surprised me with flavors I've genuinely never tasted before. The sandwiches here are incredibly unique, creative combinations that just explode with flavor in ways I wasn't expecting. What really stood out were the huge, fresh chunks of real mozzarella, paired with their homemade-style dressings, sauces, and condiments. It's easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. The portions are generous, the bread is spot-on. I'll definitely be back before my trip ends. If you're in Arlington, do not miss Eddie's Little Shop Deli. Highly, highly recommended!

Saturday, midafternoon, I stop by for an Eddie Mootz ($17) (salami, ham, sopressata, mozzarella, on seeded italian). I'm handed this brown paper bag that weighs, I dunno, 3 lbs? I have to carry this back with me to the Metro. Twice along the way, I have to stop and catch my breath. I get home, my kitchen counter sags a bit where I put the bag down. Cripes, Eddie's. And the sandwich itself? 2 meals, easily. Thick thick piles of meat and a shovel-full of mozzarella. Very chewy bread. I work up a sweat just eating this, there's so much labor involved. I ordered online from the Metro, around the DCA stop, and got a notification it was ready before I got to the King Street stop. Fast turnaround. Eddie's is now on my list of places to make a point of going to for sandwiches in the DMV. Really good sandwich, and a lot of it.
