I expected much more from Crate & Barrel. I bought Ankara Chairs on December 22, and after just three years, one chair developed a crack in the wood--despite being hardly used. These were living room chairs and probably sat on fewer than ten times total. This is clearly a manufacturing defect, not wear and tear. When I contacted customer service, they dismissed the issue simply because it was over two years old and offered no solution at all. For furniture at this price, a three-year lifespan is unacceptable. Between the poor durability and the lack of support, I wouldn't recommend Crate & Barrel furniture. read more

This is an outlet of Crate & Barrel, and this is where you need to go if you have a specific furniture in mind - they get shipments all the time, and the staff doesn't mind in you calling every so often to see if a specific model and style is available. Don't fret if they don't have a specific furniture that's not in their showroom, as they have others in their stock room. They' have a moving company on site that is a separate entity, but they are able to load it up and get it to your place at a reasonable cost. Otherwise, they can hold onto furniture up to 24 hours for you to arrange your own transport. Staff are very helpful, informative, and friendly! I don't typically shop at Crate & Barrel, but someone gave me a gift card as a housewarming present, and I happened to be in Alexandria for other items I decided to stop. The store is well laid out with simple shelving and abundantly stocked. I'm not sure how much cheaper the prices are compared to the regular store. When I selected my items and checked out, the total seemed high, but I didn't say anything. As I walked away and looked at my receipt, the cashier had charged me three times for one item, which is what drove the total so high. She was very apologetic and the manager helped her to quickly remove the two additional items. It was nice to see that the store was well staffed as well. read more

I like the store OK and had purchased a few pieces from them in the past. But I had a strange experience today. I came in and started chatting about a piece I was considering with a lady at the register who didn't seem to be busy with anything. She answered a couple of my questions, and then just started walking away, ignoring what I was saying. I followed her, talking to her, but she didn't turn to me or anything, just continued to another piece of furniture, taking inventory or something. She didn't go to another customer, there was hardly anyone in the store at the time. I didn't get answers to the rest of my questions and left, as I felt unwelcome. I considered asking someone else but none of them seemed particularly friendly or made an eye contact, even though they were all standing around and not doing anything. It was super weird. read more

I was a bit underwhelmed at the size of the store and the amount of stock they had, but the deals they had on what was in the store were great! There is free parking available in the lot of the store (about 20 spaces), so depending on the time of day you visit you won't need to park on the street or down the block. This definitely makes it easier if you're purchasing any large items to carry to your vehicle. I went on a Sunday, and according to the greeter she said it was their lowest inventory day since everything else had already been picked over. The delivery truck comes on Thursdays, so Friday is probably your best bet if you can make it out there on a weekday before the weekend rush. It's a bit like the hunger games in there since everyone is looking for a deal on the one available copy of an item when it comes to furniture. There are plenty of smaller items that there are multiple of that are in great shape, so if you're looking for small things you'll be good there. If there is a large piece of furniture you want to purchase but you want to keep shopping, take the top tag off the item (it's like a tear away receipt) and give it to one of the employees at the register. This will hold the item for you so you can keep browsing. Items are typically 20-30% discounted from the retail price when they hit the floor, and each week that item is still at the outlet it will have another 10% deducted (happens on Fridays). The furniture usually has a small dent, scrape, or ding, but you can really find some good deals there if you don't mind fixing it up a bit. I was able to find a chair I had been looking at online (retail $789, not in stock/deliverable for another 6 months) for 30% off with no damage to it. You bet I'll be back and that I'll be recommending this to friends! read more

I've been to this location several times but only recently made my first purchase. There are excellent deals on furniture and a great selection of couches, desks, dining tables, etc. (especially if you stop by frequently): I purchased a beautiful bookshelf with no flaws for almost 50% off the 'regular' store price. The associate who assisted me with my purchase was very helpful and efficient. The reason I am giving this four stars instead of five is that aside from the furniture, the majority of the other items (dishes, decor, appliances) are full price. If you come here to shop for those things, you might as well just visit a regular Crate and Barrel. I'd like to see deals on more than just the furniture. read more

A Crate & Barrel OUTLET STORE? Once I knew it was here, I had to go. Unfortunately, it was less exciting than I expected. First of all, it's quite small. I realized as soon as we pulled up that there couldn't be much inside (very few furniture pieces, and many of those they do have are damaged in some way). I hoped that they would at least have discounted décor and kitchen items (I've had my eye on glassware from CB2/Crate & Barrel for a while), but the store is just pretty sparse. I walked out with two pillow inserts and a strainer. Not a total waste of time but not the exciting outlet experience I had built up in my head. If you're in the area and want to see if they have anything you want, check it out. But definitely keep your expectations low. It's just not a large store. read more

Came across this place while getting breakfast one day and it turned out to be somewhat of a gem for us. We were able to get some decent quality home stuff like plate, bowls, cups, etc. for a pretty good price in my opinion. We just came back recently because we were in the area and needed to pick up some more house stuff. It's about the same, prices were good but less aisles. Staff is alright, sometimes friendly sometimes not and the parking lot situation can be tough, may have to park on the street. read more

I just stopped in the store to pick up a last-minute Christmas gift, a pair of chopsticks for my daughter. She's just learning but she's been stealing my chopsticks. So time for her to get around to getting her own. So walk into the store and can't find them- they're hidden! Ask the friendly counter person, and he's not sure but helps me look. He's very helpful, and finds the last two in the store. I picked them up, along with a bowl and another pair of chopsticks- and I'm happy. Total bill less than $20. Firstly, yes, the store is full of damaged pieces. If you are capable of dealing with a range of a few blemishes to restoration, then about half of the items there wouldn't be a problem for you. But not everything is damaged. I purchased the blue couch that was a custom order that was canceled. No tears, stains, or blemishes on this one so I was thrilled to get a great sofa on the same day. The tv stand in the picture was also not damaged. The coffee table video had one small blemish on their in the top right corner. All of the glassware, tableware, appliances are new. The store associates are super helpful. I was told that new pieces arrive every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. It's a priced version of HomeSense Furniture store. I have no problem going in hoping to find a piece of two that fits what I'm looking for. Several items I found, I wanted but I couldn't reconcile how it would work in my home. I can see how it can be a disappointment for some, but if you don't care about searching for a few pieces, then it's a good store to try. I do plan on going back multiple times over the next couple months to see what I can find as I have a large home to furnish. Since Covid, it takes months to get custom furniture made and delivered. Most of my home is RH, Pottery Barn and I'll keep coming here to grab Crate and Barrel pieces that fit the theme I'm going with. As an AirBNB host, I can easily see how this is a great store to source from as well for furnishing a luxury space. For people who can restore furniture easily, this is a gold mine as most pieces would take minor repairs. read more

It was just okay in my opinion. Most of my house is Crate & Barrel inspired so I was really excited to visit. They had a lot of glassware and dishes and some furniture pieces. Some of the furniture was a little damaged, but could easily be repaired if that's your thing. I ended up leaving with a baking sheet and some discounted holiday candy. Not sure if I would take a trip out of town to visit, but would be worth stopping in regularly to check out the finds if you live close by. read more

This is the outlet location. Limited parking and selection, but good prices! Each piece of furniture has a day of the week listed on the tag that it gets a further 10% markdown for each week it is unsold. We found a nice armchair that was half off, and scooped it up. They helped us get it into the trunk of our car, and gave us twine to secure the trunk lid. It's a bit of a scavenger hunt, so if you will have to keep returning if you are looking for something specific. read more

Frankly, I was underwhelmed. I was hoping to snag some good deals at this Crate and Barrel outlet, but it's sort of just a small regular store with a few rows of closeout items and a limited selection of slightly damaged furniture. Also be aware, you need to arrange your own transportation or use a third party vendor for big items. The regular items were nice, but I can get those at any location. There are also several nice pieces that this store has new stock of, but they have been discontinued at other stores and are reduced in price. Finally, there is the damaged merchandise that is piece by piece of what they get in. I found the prices of these items to be still quite expensive, especially for the quality evidenced by some of the damage. The prices are reduced each week something sits on the showroom floor, so if you wait you could probably get a great deal. The staff was friendly but I felt like it was a high-pressure sales environment. I saw a very lovely multi-piece sofa with some scuffs and small tears on it. Although it was significantly reduced in price, it was still more expensive than a brand new, perfect sofa at other stores. The salesperson stressed how rare this set was and was wishy washy when I asked if I could buy part of it instead of the whole set, adding that the manager prefers to sell it all together but *maybe* there could be an exception. When I went to look around the store at other items, I was told in a frantic tone that another family was looking at the sofa, but the tags could be removed if I wanted to hold it to check out. On one hand, this salesperson could have had the best intentions and just been eager to match me with a sofa I liked. But I felt like I was being pressured to make a fast decision to spend a lot of money on an item whose damage made me question its durability. I politely said I wasn't interested. Another family ended up buying part of the sofa, not the full set. Nothing else I saw really caught my eye, and I probably wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again. read more

We just moved to the area and are in need of new furniture, so we decided to give this place a shot. They don't have a huge selection of furniture, or at least, not as much as I thought they would. They had maybe 8-10 couches (most around $1800), 2 dining tables, a few dining chairs (mostly just sold alone and not as a set). They had a few aisles of kitchen stuff, some dishes and cups, and a lot of seasonal things from Christmas and Halloween. The kitchenware and appliances didn't seem like a better deal than what you can find in stores on sale or online. The parking lot is pretty small and fits about 15-20 cars, we were there on a weekday in the early afternoon and it was pretty hard to find parking so I imagine it's worse during a weekend. I was definitely underwhelmed by the selection and prices here. I wouldn't make a special trip to come here; if you're in the area and need a big piece of furniture, it's worth a stop. Otherwise I would save your time and just buy from the normal store when they have a sale or go to a larger furniture store. read more

Went back to the outlet store one more time to give them yet another opportunity to make this right. I spoke with the manager Doug who stood firm on his position that they don't accept returns - and insisted that this was a final sale even if the tag and the receipt didn't say so. His proposed solution was not a refund. It was not a store credit. The proposed solution was that I should do an exchange right then and there - find something else in the store of equal value (and not a gift card) and that this was somehow a generous accommodation on his part. I left the rug with Doug - it's in exactly the same condition as when I bought it. I'm counting on my credit card company to advocate for me against these bullying tactics by Crate and Barrel Outlet. Unless you want low price coupled with affirmatively awful customer service then shop elsewhere. read more

They have many cool things. Not only furniture but kitchen stuff, Christmas decorations, coffee machines, etc.. It's small. It doesn't take a long time to check corner to corner. Some of them are really cheap but some still pricy. What I really liked there is a metal and marble table about $1000. It was half price from original. read more

I strongly urge consumers to stay away from Crate and Barrel outlet stores. I spent over $2k on one couch which seemed to be in perfect condition and was a great deal compared to what it would have cost if I had purchased it in store (based on full description provided by store employees on model and fabric). Worst experience as the upgraded, stain resistant fabric along with the stain removing directions provided by the company on this model were so wrong and within a couple months I have nothing but water stains all over my whitish sofa. I followed everything exactly. The company takes no responsibility for selling me a $2K couch that, although came from an outlet with as is, was still $2K based on these features. I wouldn't pay $2K if it didn't have these features which were part of the sell to me. What a waste. The couch is not worth $5 at this point. Save yourself time and headache and know that just because it seems like a good deal and that you can inspect it all you want and do all the research , it means absolutely nothing. Will never shop with C&B - outlet or not - ever again. They owe me at least a professional cleaning but choose to simply say that I signed a waiver for the outlet so who cares if we sold you junk!!!! read more

The management at this Crate & Barrel Outlet needs to catch a clue. We arrived at 10:50 am on a Saturday hoping to drop in, grab our furniture and leave, but low and behold, management has decided not to open until 11:00. Whoops! There were already 15 people pacing back and forth at the entrance waiting for the employees to open the doors. I'm not sure what kind of preparations need to take place before you open a furniture/home appliance store, but it was fascinating watching all the employees inside not doing much else but waiting 10 min to open the doors in fear for the restless customers waiting impatiently outside. That said, the store is actually reasonably organized and stocked. They were out of a shower curtain that we wanted and the employees took about 25 min just to find a person who could find a latter in order to take down the floor model for us. Besides the fact that they should open at 10 am on Saturday, I can't really complain too much. read more

I was underwhelmed with the selection at this location. The product in the center area is the same as the regular store and is the same price. The outer edges are discounted but not to the levels I feel a outlet should be. I did find serving utensils that even at $29.99 I would have purchased but not one of the 3 associates talking behind the counter would acknowledge me when I was standing at the register. I've been looking forward to coming here since I found out about this location and since my other go-to CB outlet closed! There is a section for "Must Go" items. Items included a Kitchen Aid 5 Qt. Mixer for $320, candles, dishes, placemats, vases, glasses, snowglobes, and more. There were several rows, and none of the items appeared damaged. Pretty much what you see online is what you see in the store. There does appear to be some regular CB items at this outlet as well so you might be able to find them for slightly less, although if my memory serves me, the outlet items are better deals. Coming on a Tuesday afternoon, there were lots of women shopping by themselves. The store wasn't particularly crowded nor was it messy, and there may only be one item in that color, shape, and size you want, so I would recommend purchasing when you see it. This Saturday, August 25, starting at 10 am, this CB outlet will have furniture and other items on sale outside. Think of it as a major house cleaning. Stop by and check it out. She provided us excellent insights into their arrival schedules so we can plan our next shopping outing and has been exceptional in helping us find little pieces like pillow shams. Alert mean old ladies warning. Do not bring children: As we literally walk into the store, we are scolded by an older lady for sitting on an awesome large white revolving chair. It was oversized, super comfy, spun around, and begged our attention. My son was traumatized for the rest of the visit (and angry) at the mean lady. Two things on the brain after this experience. You don't yell at your customers as they walk in the door 2) It's an outlet. All of the merchandise is reject; returned or damaged. This isn't a Beverly Hills show room. Tips: Other sales people were nice. Shop the odds and ends or dish wares for best deals. Most textiles and wall art not great deals. Furniture is pretty beat up. This place has the BEST associates! They are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful (even when the customers aren't being not so nice)! The variety of items are varied based on inventory because this is an outlet store but I've found some awesome pieces and great deals. The store is ALWAYS so clean, organized and orderly. My two favorite associates are Jamal, Kimberly and there are a couple more that I've forgotten their names (sorry)! They ALWAYS greet with a smile and willingness to help. They know their stuff about products, materials (don't put water based products on velvet!) and decorating. Thank you for being a wonderful go-to spot for me! UPDATE: It had been awhile since I'd shopped here because of the distance from my new home. However, I decided to make the trip to see what they had. Sure enough as soon as I came in I was greeted warmly as usual and saw the associates Jamal, Kim and now how the names of the other associate that are awesome along with them. I have an unhealthy obsession with home goods stores. I love love looooove them. I'll be damned if I'm not buying that chic nightstand that doubles as a media center, even if I technically can't afford it! The bf cannot leave me to my own devices in such places...not only because the man is pickier about furnishings than any woman I have ever known, but also because I would put us in the poor house fast! Due to this deep seated love of all things home-related, I am so grateful to have a C&B outlet just steps from my house. What I love about this outlet is its variety. It has all the kitchen wares you never knew you needed, as well as great quality replacements for your old and grimy wares you have been meaning to get rid of for some time. The furniture has a very high turnover rate, so there is always something new in stock. If you find something you love but it's a little above your price range, try to stick it out for a week or two...they lower the prices on items weekly to give customers more incentive to buy and get it out of the show room. Pretty good strategy that benefits both parties! Whether you are looking for new wine glasses, cookie sheets, a new couch or table and chairs, this little place has it all laid out for you for cheap. And it's a great place to go for those of you needing some justification for your home goods addictions. read more

Outlets can be tricky--sometimes the quality is consistently subpar, other times the prices match those in the regular store, or the selection is lacking. I've shopped in 4 or 5 Crate and Barrel Outlets nationwide, and this is one of my favorites. Pros: The selection changes daily. In the summertime, there are "sidewalk sales" on the weekend with deep discounts. It's like a sample sale--they make everyone stand behind a line while they lay out the furniture outside, and when they say "go", everyone STAMPEDES to grab the item(s) they want. It's bananas. The (annual?) $99 dining table sale. Need I say more? The furniture isn't always a full season old. They have CB2 pieces! Especially dinnerware, some furniture as well. The selection of Marimekko fabric is unbeatable. Prices are (usually) reasonable. Cons: If you're hunting for a specific piece, prepare for a bunch of return trips. However, if you ask the sales associates if they have a particular item in the back, they'll always check for you. The sidewalk sales are kinda nuts. I witnessed an argument at one that almost came to blows. Almost a quarter of the time, furniture will be broken or damaged (tabletops scratched, latches broken, etc). The rug, lighting, and wall art sections are usually lacking. Saturdays are the craziest day and the furniture goes fast, so if you can arrange it, try to shop on a weekday. If you live nearby and you're furnishing an apartment, it's worth it to swing by regularly. I've found some amazing deals on big and small items, which keeps me coming back and keeps my review at 4 stars. Definitely a spot to visit! read more

So you'd never expect to find the C&B outlet right at the western tip of Old Town Alexandria, but there you go. I really enjoy everything C&B and CB2, but I'm not always a fan of their prices. Some things are quite affordable, others are laughably expensive. This is why the C&B outlet is so, so awesome. Everything in there is priced perfectly right for those of us watching our budgets...I like to stop by a couple times a year to load up on kitchen staples like spatulas, whisks, dish towels, pot holders, rammekins, etc. and also when I have something particular in mind to purchase, but am flexible on what it looks like: throw pillows for the couch, a runner for the dining table, an area rug for the front hall, new napkins, candle-holders, etc. After Christmas, the C&B outlet is THE - BEST place to stock up on high-quality, thick wrapping paper or seasonal dish ware, or to buy a fabulous wreathe or tree skirt. The deals are amazing. Adding to the experience, the place looks like any other C&B, is really well-stocked and is nicely maintained. The merchandise isn't jumbled everywhere in disorganized piles like some outlet stores. It's beautifully organized and presented. Really nice. read more

What's not to like? We all love C&B (and sometimes CB2 if you can find furniture higher than 1 ft off the ground), so having an outlet nearby is fantastic. You REALLY have to stalk this place to get the good stuff. And I mean come every day. The serious shoppers horde in like they're xmas shopping and pick the place clean on a regular basis. The bummer is that the majority of the stock is not regularly rotated--like the dishware. You can go there and see the same ugly lamps for a year or more. The furniture is sometimes really good, and sometimes so busted that you wonder why they think anyone would purchase it (at a laughably low discount, like 30%). I almost always think the discounts aren't very good and seem to hover around 20-45%. So, for example, if you want the Avec sofa from CB2, but can't afford the $1300 price tag, you can find it at the outlet (as of this week) for about $900something, which usually means you still can't afford it. There were some CB2 dining chairs I'd been lusting after for awhile there recently, but at about $90 they were still more than I was willing to pay for individual chairs (I recognize that I am cheap in this regard). However, if you have already committed to buying something for full price at C&B/CB2 and you can find it for any sort of discount at the outlet, it is a definite win as some things never go on sale. Plus, since the other C&B outlet in NoVA recently closed, this place gets ALL the stock. If it's furniture you need, definitely come here FIRST and then go to the regular store. read more

This place is full of deal hunters and pretty good deals. I don't know how people find those $200 item for $20 sales because I never see them. But I do see a lot of nick knacks and half off items. For instance, if you want to get some cheap plates or vases, this would be a great place to go. If you want to get small furniture items, again, this place is phenomenal. If you want sofas, forget it. That stuff is still expensive and it's factory seconds from C&B. C&B might be a well known brand, but I wouldn't spend more than $1000 on a sofa from them. That's about the lowest price I've seen here. Also, if you do want to get furniture, be sure to rent a zip van or uhaul to tote it home. ;) read more
