Michael's Craft store is bright, clean and in a new location. The staff are friendly and helpfully. Great store, very organized, lots of great bargains to be found inside the Michael's craft store. There are plenty of items on sale for summer, 4th of July, as well as generalized home decor and craft supplies. I found their home decor section really fantastic and the prices were less than Home Goods or other Home Decor stores. They had a huge selection of Summer items including lots of fun toys for kids and items to decorate your house seasonally. I've also been here during the winter and they have tons and tons of great craft ideas and decor ideas for Christmas and New Year's.

Tons of craft ideas. I came in on a whim to fit an old t-shirt for a frame and was set up with a lovely bamboo hoop and it was PeRfEcT!! Plus- they give coupons out every day through email and it's always something Amazing- I used my 50% off and the hoop was under $1.

My pretty floral stems I got from Michaels craft store at 3131 north Clark street in the lake view area

Today I thought I was doing a DIY project with the 5-Drawer Rolling Letterpress. After unboxing everything I discovered that several pieces were missing from the box . Thinking like hey.. maybe the pieces were all the way at the bottom of the box. Come to find out the bottom of the box had another surprise for me..GARBAGE . It was gum, bottle cap, and used supplies at the bottom. I will never go back again to shop. Make sure you don't buy "Returned" items.

As excited as I am about a new Michaels being close by us - the customer service aspect was not appealing. First off though - the old Linens n Things space is used...well...it could be better. There's a TON of space in the aisles - so yay! But there's not enough product - or too much of some, not enough of another. The actual "arts" side of Michaels is barren. Crappy selection of paints, Prismacolors, etc. But yet, there's a whole 1/3 of the store dedicated to scrapbooking. Wow. That's a lot of scrapbooking stuff. While roaming around I kept apparently getting in the way of the person putting up stuff while trying to look. She kept kneeling in front of me while I'm studying the product I was thinking of buying. Then I hear what I can only assume district managers or higher ups talk about the shitty inventory they got in there compared to other stores they've opened. I heard more curse words in there while trying to browse. All-in-all, sure I'll be back but never to just look around for fun. A specific item. I got so turned off by the staff that was hanging around and bitching, making crude comments and then consistently walking right in front of me with no apology when I'm looking at something. Irritating - I hope Michaels steps up it's game a bit, but in comparison to other ones I've been to in the U.S. this seems like the pretty standard staff - dissapointing though. I expected better.

They have great frames, crafts, decorating ideas for all rooms. Very creative place and not cookie cutter like some of the other stores.

My favorites are Isager, Sandnes Garn, Rauma, Hillesvag, and Jamieson's of Shetland. These are top tier yarn companies that are not the easiest to find online, and I have been so happy they are always in stock at this store. -The shop images are clear and easy to see, and I always find it very smooth and pleasant to shop online. I find myself using their site to compare yarn colors and get complete yarn information all the time since they list everything out & their images are high resolution. -They usually process my order quickly, and a huge bonus that they offer 10% certain brands and free ball winding. - I always get free shipping, and my order is easy to track and usually arrives within the work week. Excellent quality of all their products! Unique fabrics that are gorgeous. The needlework kits, cross stitch and embroidery, were very unique too. Sashiko products are also sold here too, which is what I decided to purchase some of. Some of the items for sale here I had never seen anywhere else. The staff person working was knowledgeable, helpful, and nice. I also thought the prices were good because of the high quality of the items. Will visit here again on my next trip to Evanston.

I love to sew. I am crafty, and I have a huge love (can you tell?) with fabrics! Thanks to Evanston Stitchworks, you'll find really fun and unique designs at their shop (currently available online). This isn't your typical fabric store. They support really cool independent designers and quirky fabrics for quilting and making clothes...well for sewing anything really. They also offer knitting supplies and all the books you might need to learn how to sew or knit. Evanston Stitchworks also offers many crafty classes (currently virtual). A few years ago I took their beginning knitting class. For some reason my brain gets all discombobulated when I try to knit, but the class was really fun. The owner was patient and kind and did everything she could to help me fix my mistakes along the way. Everyone else knocked it out of the park, so it's just not something I'm good at. I'm so glad this small local business exists, and I'll continue to purchase fabric from them. Speaking of fabric, don't you just love the designs I picked out for my two little nieces? They are Heather Ross designs, and my SIL is planning to make dresses for them. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
