I presented the staff at Michael's with a real challenge; I have curly, unmanageable and uncooperative hair that is almost impossible to style and never looks the same day to day. If that weren't enough I'm a little thin on top and I hadn't shaved my face or cut my 'mop' in more than a year due to COVID19. Seriously, I looked more like Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks' character in Cast Away) than the IT professional that I was pre-outbreak. The staff at Michael's fit me in on a short notice. Michael himself took the time to analyze and provide input on how to crop the chaotic mess springing from my head and transform it into a wash and wear style that I could live with (all the while covering-up the fact that my hair was thinning on top). In what seemed like no time at all the stylist/barber-extraordinaire (José) did his magic - cutting, snipping, shaping, and creating a pile of hair the size of a small dog on the floor. When he finished I felt ready to return to work looking more like the IT guy I am than a stranded castaway carrying a volleyball named "Wilson". I don't know about the other hairdressers at Michaels but I went for a cut with Jen. I cried the whole way home and I'm still crying. Horrible. Has no clue what she's talking about. She did the total opposite of what I wanted and what she said was right for my hair. I went in with long out of shape layers which I would give anything to get back. I left with a long bob no shape or style whatsoever. I never write reviews I just hope I can save someone the misery I feel now. read more

You feel welcomed from the time you walk in the door and everyone is friendly. Jenn was my color/stylist and she did an amazing job. She was very through with explaining each step of the processes as well as her knowledge on how to keep up the maintenance of the color for a longer wear time to keep the color vibrant. This place is awesome! For starters when you walk in the receptionist, Johnathan, is very pleasant and immediately makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Once in the chair Michael looked at my hair and suggested what would work best for me and I, without questioning, let him work his magic (which is unlike me). I am so happy I found this salon and I'm so happy with my hair...the cut and color came out amazing! His other stylists were very helpful as to answering questions and they did amazing cuts on the other clients that were there. read more

First, I don't like the thought of rating a business one star but here's the deal. I chose this salon for it's prices and reviews and here's my experience. 1. When I called, I asked for a stylist whose rate would be closer to the $20 starting range for my 13 year old daughter and myself. I was told the stylists she booked for us were indeed on the "lower skilled" level but the rate would be based off of the complexity of our hair and would be assessed when we came in so she couldn't give me an amount over the phone. I should have hung up the phone at this point. 2. When she took my daughter back, rather than brushing through her hair and consulting her, she took her straight back and washed. Then she asked if she wanted a "flowy" feel to her long straight hair, or a straight across cut. I tried to explain what her last haircut looked like but what she got was the same Supercut experience where they cut directly across the bottom and take a few slices out of the side. My daughter's hair actually looked worse leaving than it did when we walked in as her last cut at Andre' Robere held the beautiful lines they were able to achieve on a long hair cut. 3. When she took me back (which for the record, we were suppose to have cuts at the same time) again, there was no consultation. After the shampoo, I told her I wanted shorter than long layers that framed my face and a flattering but not too short length while she combed me out. She commented on a length and said she didn't want to make it "mullet" like so I agreed to her recommendation. When she was done blow drying me out, I commented it looked like I had a bowl on my head and she even commented she didn't understand why the ends were all flipping up but must have been the way she blew dried it out. Mullet was achieved!!! She looked anxious to get me out but told me I could come back if I was displeased after blow drying it out myself. This is an issue as why would I trust her to re-cut my hair and shouldn't her blow dry be better than mine?????!!!!! 4. I'm a pretty good sport so I figured after the comment the owner made about their haircuts being less expensive than "Easton" salons, I would just go and have my regular salon cut it and let it go as a lesson learned. I mean, I did ask for the "least skilled" stylist so perhaps my fault? But here's the straw that broke the camel's back. After waiting at the desk for 10 minutes while the owner entered my demographics from a form I had filled out when I FIRST came in, he finally got around to telling me how much I owed. He charged me $80!!! Ironically, $40.00 is exactly what I pay for the "more skilled" stylists in Easton. So this blew my mind! It's been a few days since the haircut and I'm posting now because I figured my initial disappointment and outrage might "wash" away after we styled our own hair. But no, my ends are going in every direction with a thick bowl of hair around my head. Lovely, just lovely. And I will have to wait on a clean up because after spending $96.00 on two cuts that Supercuts could have done a better job on, I don't even have $ for them. Lastly, the owner apologized for the lacking enthusiasm his establishment was experiencing at the time. This was after he told a patron that she best not mess with him as he was having a particularly tough day. I wonder if enthusiasm was down because he demanded his employee who was washing hair for him to acknowledge she understood his demands of her repeatedly as she walked away. Very uncomfortable to watch and hear as a customer. A learning moment for my daughter as I explained how if he took responsibility for his own behavior, the apology wouldn't be necessary as the enthusiasm of his staff and customers' satisfaction is a reflection of his behavior. So because of the ambiguity around rates, appointment stacking, cut satisfaction, customer service and overall experience, I have no choice to rate this establishment 1 star. One positive, the stylist was very nice. read more

We were attending a family wedding in the area and in need of a hair salon for myself and three other family members. I reached out via e-mail to several salons in the area of the hotel we would be staying at. Michael responded promptly and offered his cell phone number to contact him to discuss details. Our initial phone call could not have gone better. He was so easy to talk to and asked many questions and truly listened to what each individual in our party was looking to have done. He was able to accommodate us with a time that worked well. When we arrived, we felt so comfortable and welcomed. Michael and his entire staff were very pleasant and quickly determined which team member would be best for each of us. All four of us were very pleased with the results which ranged from blowouts to updo's and curls. The ambience and positive vibes throughout our visit were an excellent way to start our pre wedding experience. The salon is clean and well maintained which was a plus. Some things are just meant to be and both Michael and I agreed our meeting was one of them. Would highly recommend a visit to Michael's Hair Salon. read more

Michael is a master craftsman. He has taken care of my hair styling needs for more than 10 years and I have never been more satisfied. His cuts are superb - current and precise and easy to replicate at home. As a colorist, Michael suggests color choices that are so natural, even I sometimes forget that I wasn't born with such gorgeous hair. He has worked in the major, east coast metropolitan areas (Boston, New York, Miami...) which requires Michael to have up to the minute knowledge of hair care techniques and products.
