This is specifically for the framing services. I want to be transparent that it seemed like a lot of miscommunication and not necessarily anyone's fault, but a lot of issues could've been resolved with more communication. For Xmas I wanted to get my partner's board certificate professionally framed. Previously we had it in a cheap diploma frame that the glass unfortunately broke, so I wanted to go big! My first impression of the framing department was wonderful. A seemingly very helpful woman took my order. I was very honest that I'd never done this before, which I would hope implied that she would find the best route to go for my order. (employee was SO nice, again, miscommunications all around) For $181 I would surely hope to get a whole new layout, mat included. I have never done this before so I trult didn't understand what I was paying for. I wish employee had explained better. Unfortunately after the two week turnaround I was wildly disappointed. Backing was lumpy, the tassels were haphazardly arranged with a missing piece front and centered(missing piece was our fault, but I was hoping they would have turned the tassel so it wasn't visible), the sash I included had pins visible, and most disappointing thing was that they kept the original mat which was scuffed and ripped in several places. It wasn't ever vocalized that the price didn't include a new mat, nor did anyone catch this and call me to recommend a new one for a better look. I would've sincerely appreciate a phone call and a recommendation, even if it cost more. The surprise and two week wait later was really disappointing. Even if it was explicit in price I had said Ive never done this before. You'd just really think that if I was willing to spend the money that I would want it to look very nice and new :( When I brought it back, employees were again- very nice. But I had to pay an extra $20? 30? To get a new mat. The original had a smaller one within the large so if I wanted it to look like that I had to pay double for two mats. ($60!) I was really shocked to be told I had to pay for a mat after the original miscommunication but maybe it was really my fault. Idk. Just very disappointed about it. The second one is MUCH better. Worth over $200 and the headache? Ehhhh. This was a 4 week process and over $200 later. Would not recommend Michael's framing to anyone to be really honest. I learned! Employee customer service was 8/10. Information could've been a lot better. read more

Appreciate the opportunity for curbside pickup, esp with a large chain's infrastructure to easily order what you need online. Same day delivery runs $10. The problem here: this location is often understaffed, so as to have unnecessarily long waits for both in-store checkout and curbside. Still, they have Balloon Time tanks for that last minute "oh sh*t!" moment when you realize you didn't fill your daughter's mylar puppy balloons, and it's the only thing that could destroy her quaranbirthday party. So I went, paid and bounced. Bonus: this location is also a UPS Access Point for pre-labeled drop offs that won't fit in a drop box. One of only two in the area! read more

All around unpleasant experience. I won't go to Michael's again. My intent was custom framing but manager discouraged me from doing that Suggested I buy one on the floor. Said custom required filling out a form precise measurement, choosing matting and borders . I'm surmising that she, as manager, didn't have the time as there was only a trainee at the frame counter and a person at the register. Three personnel on a busy Saturday. I was left standing at the register for 15 minutes while customer before tried repeatedly to swipe her card ..... employee could have keyed in the card number but instead just stood there; likewise the manager who sauntered over and had no advice to offer to help the customer. When I finally got my turn, the manager opened up a second register which she could have done while I shifted from one foot to the other on my cane! When I returned home an item that I was charged for had not been bagged so I have to go back to the store for a credit or if the item is still available take it and leave. I like Michaels mostly because it satisfies that schizophrenic shopping part of my brain that wants to see pretty, sparkly jewelry things stocked in the same store as scrapbooking paper (I don't scrapbook, I just like making notes with the paper!) and craft supplies for things I'll never make but like to think I will. I've noticed that the two Michaels that I go to (Hanover and Colony Place) have been renovated and cleaned up quite a bit. Nice job. The aisles are cleared out and there's space to maneuver a cart now. I do miss some of the artificial leaves and things as I did like the seasonal decor but even pared down as it is now, I think you could find anything you might want or need for a craft or school project (do kids still have to do those??) or for jewelry making, Much more inventory for that then they used to have, which is nice. And the ubiquitous candy counter at checkout has Mary Jane's next to Godiva - love it! read more

It's different each time I come here. Some days they have everything I want, and I want to buy EVERYTHING! Other days, they're out of EVERYTHING I need. It often looks empty, but whenever I need to check out, all of a sudden, there's a long line of people! What the heck??? I mostly buy products like: sketchbooks, paper, all kinds of pencils, markers, and paints. But, I've also purchased beads many times, wire, and LED lights. I had a superb experience in the Hanover Michaels store, just like most of the other reviews. Being in the area a few months ago, I stopped into this location to pick up a few items for a summer course I was teaching, and to make a few returns. First off, don't expect a normal Michaels experience. The store is set up weirdly (had no idea where anything was....) and the floor tiles are completely retro style colored. You will be able to find most items in any ordinary Michaels (I guess I'm spoiled with the largest to-date location by my home in Westwood), with a few products you may have to drive to another Michaels for (or go across the parking lot to Jo-Anns for). Second, both Gail & Terry at the checkout area are super friendly, helpful, and kind towards all of their customers. They were so helpful and seemed to value customers more than an ordinary cashier. Love to see this kind of service (could this be why AC Moore closed in the mall?). Great Michaels location, just wish it had the full stock the others do. 5 stars for the Hanover store. I want to write a 5 star review of this location because of a wonderful experience I had a few weeks ago. I went to Walmart, AC Moore, and Target looking for gems/bedazzling materials. I'm graduating soon and I really wanted to make my graduation cap scream "WOW!". No stores carried what I wanted and when I asked for help, I was brought in the wrong direction. When I stopped by Michael's, the employees were very friendly and kind. When I asked for help in Walmart, the employee pointed in a direction. At Michael's, an employee walked with me to the aisles for scrapbooking and gem kits. She showed me different kits and styles and options. We compared prices and she helped me get some great pieces for my cap. Thank you, friendly employee! I'll always remember my high school graduation cap as being fabulous because of your help! read more

Went in today with my little girls. When my girls tried to use a coupon, the cashier mocked them and laughed at them making them very uncomfortable. The cashier was a very angry person. She seemed to be short of breath and yearning for a couple big macs. Bizarre. When I discussed it with the manager, she looked at the cashier and laughed along with her. I didn't know the circus was in town. How do such unpleasant, tacky people get hired? Poor little girls. Good luck Michael's. I know you're struggling. read more
