The store supposedly opens at 10:00. We were there at 10 and told 10 more minutes as they were not ready. We came back in 20 minutes and they were open this time. However we walked in and were basically ignored, not even acknowledged. We sat in the store for about 10 minutes, feeling uncomfortable and getting more and more angry. Finally we decided to leave. They did not even care that we left. We are in the market for wedding rings so they not only lost a good sale, but we will never step foot back in the store. Will not recommend to anyone. Had two wedding bands and a diamond ring to sell, and figured I would stop at this place. Nice setup, great location, and local company. Inviting pleasant place  with lovely people. Was told the bands' value is based on weight only, and based on the value of gold. They would offer me $155 for both the 14K bands. Would have to stop by the next day to see Maria, store manager and diamond expert. Stopped in the next day. Lovely woman who knows her business. Said the diamond in the ring looks good, but unfortunately there are so many more "lab grown" diamonds sold. Lab grown prices are 40% lower than non farmed varieties. My guess is that is who they cater to. Not real jewelry buyers. Made me feel like nobody is buying real diamonds and she would do me a favor and offered me $500. A few days later I went to another jewelry store in Westport CT. The bands were magically worth $390, the band from the diamond ring $100, and the diamond $1300. Had I settled with Michael's, total would have been $655. But in fact I ended up with $1790. Sad. Very sad. There is a sucker born every minute. I don't understand the metals and diamond world, nor do I understand what the heck a bitcoin is, but now I know a little bit more about selling these type of commodities. read more

Their diamonds and gold are of the highest quality eliminating any worry about what you are purchasing. The manager, Maria, is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of jewelry as was Bob who has since retired. They make all of my purchases personal and special. My fiancé purchased my ring from the Orange, CT location with the help of Bob. Bob was so incredibly helpful in teaching all there is to know about diamonds, and showed him many different rings under magnification. So I went to Michaels to purchase an engagement ring a few years ago, and was talked into purchasing one of their "signature diamond" rings. I proposed to my girlfriend at the time, and after two years of engagement we split up mutually. I decided to sell the ring since I no longer had a use for it, and brought it back to Michaels since it was their signature diamond ring and was hoping to get back something for it (obviously expecting no where near what I paid, but still something so it wouldn't be a total loss). They decided to take it upstairs to be appraised so they can come up with an offer. It sat with them for over a week, before I got a phone call from them telling me they "were not looking for estate jewelry at this time." Now this catches me as being fishy because if they weren't looking for estate jewelry, then the manager (who was on site at the time) should have been able to tell me right up front that that was the case, instead of holding onto it to appraise it for a week. I decided to take the ring to the other side of town to Valentines where they were able to appraise it for me on the spot, where they told me I was greatly overcharged because the diamond had a black spot inside of the diamond, and was of very poor quality which was the reason why he refused to offer a price to buy it back from me. So after having it appraised at three other jewelers, they all had the same thing to say to me: I was ripped off, and they clearly aren't a jeweler of integrity, because any jewelry store selling "signature diamonds" that they market as their own name brand, they should be willing to make an offer on the ring...never purchase jewelry from this place, because they are not the kind of jeweler that you would want to deal with for life changing events like engagements... read more

I've been coming to Michaels since I was very little. My mother had bought us a pearl every year since my sister and I were 5 years old. This is the reason why I wanted my fiancé and I to pick out our wedding bands here. Sandi was the associate who help us two different times and she is absolutely exceptional. Today we went to the trunk show to see if we could get a good price on the wedding bands. We were really happy when we saw sandi there since we dealt with her in the past. Unfortunately while Sandi prepared herself to come help us we had an unpleasant experience with the one gentleman in the store, I believe he was titled the "diamond consultant" . I know this might sound petty and unreasonable but it really bugged me that as I was scanning over the rings ...right in front of him...he didn't once say hello or how are you? Can I help you?. I could have easily have let this go but once my fiancé walked by him he was ready to be personable. "Hi sir how are you!? Can I help you?!" It made me feel like he thought only a man was worthy of a hello, that my fiancé was going to just pay for everything and me as a customer meant nothing. It felt really sexist. We went to another trunk show just up the road and even though it cost us more.... we were treated nicely BY ALL. No one treated us differently just based on whether we were the buyer or not. I couldn't make up the horrific experience at Michael's Jewelers Orange if I tried. Cheryl their associate does not have the ability to get the simplest of tasks right. She screwed up my order every step of the way even after the manager got involved. Then a month later I saw the receipt when I was preparing to insure the ring and it said my ring was "white gold" when it was supposed to be "Platinum". She explained to me it was a mistake that the receipt said that but I have zero confidence in her response after so many mistakes so I will be taking the ring to another store to make SURE I actually got a platinum band like we paid for and not white gold like the receipt says. It's truly incredible they still are in business. I've been to other Michael's stores and their service is at least satisfactory but this Orange store location is an actual joke. My engagement ring is over 100 Years old and is very detailed. The stone is not large but the Filigree detail is amazing. So, I was looking for a custom wedding band which basically was a "jacket" for my ring... I didn't want anything to overwhelm the ring... Two simple Diamond rings. Small Stones... Delicate setting.. (Nothing to overwhelm the engagement ring.)Money was not even a thought in my mind as long as they got it right.. I was dealing with Danielle and Rich, Who if you decide to visit this location... See them. No one else. I explained what I wanted and they said that they would have two wax molds created so that I would get an idea of what the rings would look like together. I felt comfortable enough as they ensured me that they can accommodate me and that they just wanted to make sure what I was satisfied. (Phfff).. After two weeks I got a call that the molds had come in and to stop by whenever I had a chance....Wonderful, I thought... I'll stop in at lunch.. Which I did... there was supposed to be two molds to try on...which when I asked about the second mold Rich said that the custom ring people didn't think it would work out ((Isn't that my decision?)) I tried on the one mold which was a channel setting that was big and clunky...it looked terrible and I was disappointed. But, I wanted to give them my business..... So I pulled out their wedding bands and explained everything that I needed. I asked them "can you do this?" No problem" I was told. Both Rich and Danielle said that they understood how important this was to me. So..... here we go again They were sending the ring back out for a new wax mold to my specs.... This means I had no ring. Again........ Mind you Michael's Jewelers had my ring for a month at this point. So, I rec'd a voice mail this past Tuesday from Danielle telling me that the ring was due back into the store the next day and to stop in whenever I was ready. So I called yesterday to confirm that the ring and mold was in... I spoke to a frantic Rich, who blurted out that he was so sorry the ring hadn't come in he was still working with the jeweler to see if the ring had been shipped out.. My first reaction was omg they don't know where my ring is... I stayed calm..... And asked Rich to call me back when he heard back on it. I should have known it was going downhill at that point. Rich called me and explained that the ring was being shipped out for today Thursday delivery and that although he would not be in I would be taken care of. Around 1:30 today, I rec'd a vc mail from a woman named Sandi who left the following message on my cell" this is Sandi from Michael's. Your ring has come in. Thank You." I was so excited! Even though Sandi sounded like she had no soul...I called my fiancé and said meet me after work to see the molds.. Because I knew they had to have gotten it right! 5:15 I was in the parking lot! So excited I could not wait for my Fiancé... so I went in the Store.. There stood Sandi... I said hi, I believe you left me a vc mail about my ring. She acknowledged me and asked me to confirm my last name which I happily did... Sandi pulled the bag out with my ring in it handed me the ring and asked me to sign a receipt which I did.. She then asked me "Did Rich tell you about the ring?"... I assumed she was talking about the shipping mix up.. I was expecting an apology about the delay which I would have told her "No worries... Let's just see the mold...." Well, I was dead wrong. Apparently, what she was talking about was that the Custom jewelry person who had been dealing with my ring for over a month came up with nothing!!! What a lovely surprise!! She handed me my ring and asked me how would I feel about taking my beloved's symbol of his love and commitment to me and "wear it as a right hand ring and buy a matching engagement ring with matching band" If looks could kill Sandi would have been a puddle of goo. "Oh" she says "You're determined" I shook my head yes and turned to leave as I was calling my fiancé who was pulling up into the parking lot. ...... I don't write reviews on business that I deal with because I usually chalk it up to..... Bad day, bad economy... Bad hair day... Whatever.. I let things slide... I was so thoroughly dissatisfied with this "business" (SMH)that I felt the need to warn those researching jewelers in the area... AWESOME place! From the second I walked in the door I was greeted by everyone. Immediately I was offered something to drink and to have my jewelry cleaned. When I sat down with my fiancé to start looking at engagement rings, I felt like a princess every step of the way. The whole team seemed so knowledgable about their products and they DEFINITELY had the best selection of all the places we went to. The woman we worked with was simply fantastic. She listened to what I wanted and put everything right in front of me. She made an overwhelming experience a fantastic, easy, and fun one. The manager continually stepped in and introduced himself and made it known he was there for us and would make anything we wanted happen. We felt like complete royalty as the other employees asked if we needed drink refills, or simply complimented how beautiful the ring I was trying on looked. This was the greatest experience I've had in all my years of shopping. It was comforting to know Michaels Jewelers is a family owned business that has been around for over 130 years. I know they are not a "here today, gone tomorrow" type of business. I was reminded of how they don't just want to sell us our engagement ring, but they want to be our jewelers for life! Their Love For Life guarantee reassures me of that. At any point in my life if I want to upgrade my diamond, I can! I don't have to spend a penny more, I simply give them my old ring and take my new one home! I was told they want me to be as happy as I am today in ten, twenty, or thirty years. PANDORA FAKE! For Christmas I bought three Pandora beads they were 70 bucks each, I looked on the Internet to see if I can get them cheaper and purchased the same three. I decided to compare them without taking the Michael's charms out of the box (not wanting to get them mixed up) and noticed that Michael's on one of the beads had an extra hologram that I didn't notice. Right off the bat I thought the ones I bought online were fake, not thinking Michaels would ever do that. I went to three different Pandora stores and come to find out all of the ones purchased online were authentic. They all mentioned they had never seen a hologram like the one on the one I bought from Michael's. When I went to Michael's, first I asked them about the ones I bought online if they were authentic and they too agreed they were. Then I mentioned the ones I bought from them and the woman looked at it and said she had never seen a hologram like that. I told her that I would like to return it then and she wouldn't let me return it, on top of that she accused me of switching them when I never even took them out of the box! When I asked for a manager the woman said that she stepped out and asked for my information and the manager would get back to me. I never heard from the manager, which I emailed as well the next day and the company itself. I am at awe that a big company like this sold me something fake, On top of that all of the money I've wasted. They're awful, never again! read more
