I ordered and called to confirm my balloon delivery. Had mylars and package of balloons. They delivered the balloons with only the mylars blown up. The pkg of balloons were still in the package. I called today and they are not able to blow the package up. Does not state that on website nor did the employee tell me that. Very embarrassing at my event with less balloons. Nothing done about it. First time visiting a Michaels store in a long while. Came here to take advantage of the Halloween items that were on sale for next year. Overall, it's a Casual, big box store with tons of stuff and ideas for DIYers. Store was clean, seasonal items are a bit overpriced. Fair selection of clothes, accessories and hard to find items. I ordered 5 sweatshirts for Christmas gifts this past holiday. The shirts were ordered two weeks prior to and was told they would be delivered by December 21st at the latest. It is December 27th and still no shirts. No tracking available either. Called customer service prior to holiday and was told they were sorry but the shirts had not even been shipped. As a crafter I always preferred Michaels but my days shopping there are done. After all the money I have spent over the years in that store I am through shopping there. Giving this store 4-stars for their efficient check out process on what is known as the busiest day of the year, the Saturday before Christmas. They had 4 cashiers and a single file line that went back half way to the end of the store. Here's how they addressed the issue of getting people checked out as quickly as possible. They had an employee walk the line of waiting customers with some sort of hand-held machine where she scanned a customer's purchases, bagged them and then gave them a card with their purchase information scanned in. This way, as each person got to the next in line position, their cashier only had to scan the customer's card, which listed all of their purchases , accept the payment and print the receipt! You're on your way because your purchases have already been bagged. Next in line, please. Good customer service on the busiest day of the year. read more

I placed an online order, and it arrived broken - so I had to return it. I brought it to this store only to be told that I had to provide proof (even though I had the return / packing slip with all the order info on that form) of how much I paid for the item. I pulled the order up on my phone (email) and showed her that information as well, along with the return/packing slip form that also had the same information on it - She then had to page someone and ask them how the item is. If the item wasn't broken, I wouldn't have returned it - and then to give me a hard time about it? Wont be spending anymore money here. read more

Beyond Terrible customer service‼ I visited this location on 21 July 2023 between 9:30-10:00 am. It was hard to find anyone to help and when I finally found them they were unwilling to help. Although the item I was looking for was supposed to be available in store, they were not willing to check where the item may have been since I wasn't finding it on the sales floor and kept saying we don't have any left. I informed them the site said there were 12 available in the store and they insisted it wasn't there without wanting to verify. One went as far as saying we don't have any garland left when the store was full of garland, summer garland and even more. This is the second time in less than a week I've received horrible customer service from this store. The first time it was one employee, the second time it was two employees, including the one from first visit. The unwillingness to help is evident not just in what they're saying but also in the blond with ponytail employee's facial expression. The same expression she was giving me during the first encounter but I ignored it and walked away while talking so she would follow me in the direction of where the item was supposed to be. The interaction wasn't pleasant as she was telling me the obvious without listening to what I was saying. In the end, the item I was looking for was in the stock room. This second visit is my last, I will spend my money at stores willing to offer customer service should I need help finding items. read more

I placed an order for pickup never received a text saying it was done and ready so I decided to come into the store before they closed 9pm and asked about my order and I was told that no one picked it. That means if I didn't come in person and asked about my order they would have never gotten it and would have blew me off. The young girl gets my order and now i'm just getting to open it and I notice the girl gave me a leaking box and all the hardener resin is gone. Awful customer service in the framing department today. No one was at the counter or in the back room when I arrived. Called out 3 times, no one came, no bell, etc. Employee was headed to the bathroom and she flagged down the person. Unfortunately she had less than charming personality / customer service skills. Her attitude just turned me off completely. I was willing to spend good money to have a piece framed and she gave me very limited options, made no comments, offered no suggestions - truly awful customer service. I did a lot of work on the embroidery I took to be framed and whether she liked it or not, really could care less, she should have been accommodating and made suggestions. Will not return there. Used to be an older lady there who was very accommodating, gave suggestions, helped immensely - she was wonderful! Right now you have the wrong employee working in that department. read more

Awful customer service. I bought many items today and I had to return 2 color items AND exchange them w/different colors. Other stores make it easy to exchange. THIS place returns the items, gives me back $1.19 store credit for 2 items who I paid around $10 for 1/2 an hour ago. I throw away the store credit. If you want to get something framed, clip a 50% off coupon from an ad or go on the website. If you want advice on framing, they are helpful when the framing counter isn't abandoned. I wanted to frame a jersey for my husband, so I went into Michaels and first perused the frames on the shelf. Since I wasn't sure what to do, I asked the guy how to best frame this. He explained to me that a shadowbox would work best, but they currently were not in stock because, at that time of the year, moms were hoarding them for their children's jerseys. I didn't need to know, but it was helpful to know that I shouldn't expect them to be in stock anytime soon. I went back a few weeks later to purchase one. I don't know what it is with Michaels stores that irritates me so much. It's either a case of crappy employees or low inventory. If you want better service, go to Hobby Lobby or Joann. Personally, I go to Michaels armed with a coupon and a mission for exactly what I need, which means I don't spend more than $10. read more

I dropped off a painting to be matted and framed a couple weeks ago at the Joliet store. I went to pick it up yesterday and came also with a painting that was already beautifully framed and matted, but the backing was loose and the picture falling out of the frame. I was prepared to leave it, but the department manager, so not just wait I'll take care of it now. When done, and wrapped I pulled my card out to pay for and he waved me away. What a real surprise and pleasure. Sure I had just paid $200 for the previous order (on sale) but fully expected to pay for the repair. Just such awesome service. read more

She point to another aisle and said that's what we have. As someone who works in retail, I just don't point directions to customers. Tried to pick up online order here. Discourteous, unfriendly customer service. Online pickup order area is also the Custom Framing desk. Had to wait in line behind another customer getting custom framing done. It took 20 minutes just for her to try out all the frames, mattes, etc.. Then when she finally made her choices they had to take down her info, make small talk and then process her payment. I was not acknowledged once, except when I spoke up. When they finally got to me, no "Thanks for waiting" or anything. Had to wait even longer for them to locate an iPad just to check me out, and then the system wasn't working. All they really had to do was grab my order and scan it. A 2 min transaction took almost 30. Never again. I'll stick with JoAnn from now on. read more

I went in last week looking for program templates for my wedding. I found an employee and asked where I could get them. She said that they didn't have wedding programs there, which I know is not true. She then told me what I was asking for was not really "called a program". Yes it is. Her name tag claimed 5 years of experience, yet somehow I knew this store did actually carry this product. I went on my own to the wedding aisle and I did find programs, but they had been opened and picked through. Not a good experience here. read more

I was going to purchase some prismacolor products a couple of weeks ago here, but they didn't have what i needed in stock so I came back a week later they still didn't have them came back a couple days later they still didn't have them so this time I asked a lady who was working there she looked in the above the shelves bins but they didn't have them, and said they would be here in 1-2 weeks so I came back two weeks later and they still didn't have them so I asked a worker and they said they DONT EVEN CARRY WHAT I NEEDED so she looked up what stores had them but they were far away and they did even have all what I needed. This is an experience in framing. First, I should have left when you get people who are just learning or because they only have so many people on hand to help. I could tell when it took this person so long and had to ask questions to the staff that was there. I ordered a plate, but wasn't sure of how the font would look. I was told by the man employee who came out that they would call so I could come out to see if I like it, otherwise I could have it changed. Never was called, as I was busy getting my house prepared for Christmas and other things in a daily life was happening to think about it. I called the day before the frame was suppose to be in and they lady said they were putting it together and it should be done that day. While I was on the road about 5 hours later, thought I would drop in to see if I could pick it up. The lady looked around and finally said it won't be till tomorrow. I get a call the next day, nearing afternoon saying that one of the mats was cut wrong. So, Christmas is around the corner, wanting this to be displayed and she tells me expedited service for another mat is 1 week to receive. Not good enough for a major business with their bread & butter in custom framing. Talked to the Manager, said he would compensate me for this. Now the frame will be put together till I return the picture to have the new mat put in. Back and forth and risking something else happening to the expensive frame. I am very disappointed in Michael's as far as getting the measurements correct. We've had frames done for my Company & also for home from Michael's for years, but now I will think of going to Hobby Lobby the next time. read more
