My husband, Timothy, and I set out for an exciting weeknight to enjoy some holiday decor shopping. We were excited excited to just relax, walk around, and enjoy each others company. BUT TO NO AVAIL! Upon entering the store at 8:30pm we were "welcomed" with "WE CLOSE IN 20 MINUTES!" Timothy glanced at his Rolex to see that the time was in fact 8:30, and they actually closed in 30 min. 5 min into looking through their scarce Easter decor options, we were rudely interrupted with "Do you need help? because we close in 15 min!" NO ACTUALLY I DONT NEED YOUR HELP. TIMOTHY AND I ARE PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF SHOPPING OURSELVES AS WELL AS TELLING TIME. In fact maybe the women who was shouting out these rude things needs to fix her watch, as the time she was telling us was obviously not correct. We tried to forget about this rude woman and continued our shopping. BUT TO NO AVAIL!!!!! "WE CLOSE IN 10 min" and alas, 5 minutes later, "WE CLOSE IN 5 min," Rudely interrupting us yet again. Once we brought our merch to the counter she asked us point blank if we needed help with the self checkout because I guess we weren't going fast enough for her. Bright clean and organized. I was just browsing as it was my first time in this location. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of assortment of watercolor pencils but they did have them in stock. On the plus side, I met a wonderful associate working near the front of the store who was very friendly and helpful. She answered all of my questions about tie-dying and explained how easy it is. Is this my favorite arts and crafts store- yes !! Always get the coupons or ask when you are there. 50% off :) I was a tad disappointed when I was there last. I lost my phone and during the holiday season it's even scarier!! I went to two stores and ran back to this one. I asked the cashier who gave me an attitude on Christmas Eve. She hardly looked for my phone and the coworker just looked at the counter! Thought that was kinda nasty but then someone changed my view... a guy that was buying stuff said he can call it - wow and good vibes for him !!! Such a great place to shop for arts and crafts. But keep in mind it's not just crafts anymore. They have a nice variety of home decor as well. Florals, frames and seasonal products in an abundance of options to choose from. The staff at the Massapequa location are very friendly and accommodating. This store is a hidden gem! My first impression is "whatever, its another Michaels" because the shopping plaza can look rough around the edges. When I walked in I was shocked. Everything was immaculate. The store was clean, stocked, inviting, and easy to browse through. The staff is very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. (Even at the register when you're looking for that last minute coupon!) I have gone back 3 times since, and each visit is better then the last. I refuse to go to any other Michaels! read more

Michaels is open and it's open until 7! Never seen such a huge variety of fake plants.. never leave here disappointed :) They also have a great but very strange return policy.. valid for 6 months! I'm always looking for things to do with my son on the weekends and found they do kids crafts on Saturday mornings! You can check their website for more details about how much and what the craft is but it generally starts at 10 a.m. For only $2 to occupy my four-year-old while simultaneously improving his motor skills, this is such a great thing. The instructor, Betsy, was absolutely amazing and continued to encourage my son even when he was having some difficulty. Sometimes kids struggle and get frustrated but she was so sweet and patient with him. As far as the store itself, it's always clean and organized and an added incentive is they have coupons online! I cannot express how irritated i am with this store right now. My friend drove me to this store to hop out real quick because were both baking & he has coupons and is obsessed with this store lol anyways-- ----- So i quickly went to Michaels to buy more melting chocolate (im currently baking for my grandmothers birthday) Now it is 6:48 and i walk in the door. Keep in mind - i am in a rush so im SPEED WALKING.. I am also hard of hearing on my left ear and i had an air-pod in my right ear because i assumed it would be a quick in and out thing... nope. I understand the air-pod could be a bad idea but i didn't think it was an issue... (I'm not even sure if they said anything because as i walked in one girl just looked at me but im mentioning the air-pod just in case they go "we called to him" or something like that. So anyways, i speed walk into the store and start heading right to my destination - i had to look at 1 row and then go to the melting chocolate. As im heading to my destination this girl begins speed walking after me and cuts me off after popping out behind a fricken isle and scares the sh*t out of me. She goes "HI WERE CLOSING IN 10 MIN do you need help finding something" in a fast rushy tone - I was like okay? I just need 1 thing, im fine thanks.. and she casually walks away. I grab my chocolate and keep in mind its been maybe 1-2 min tops... head right to the check out to be STARED at by *FIVE* employees..just clustered staring & talking. It made me feel hella uncomfortable - My dumba*s still apologized and said "Im sorry if i caused any inconvenience i thought y'all closed at 8!" AND i was not acknowledged!! They blatantly ignored me... i was like oh okay.. As i was being rung up i apologized again and she said its fine dont worry about it and i left. I entered at 6:48 and left at 6:52... I understand how annoying it can be for customers coming in close to closing time...i run a store myself and i know its annoying at times ----- But 1. I had no clue it was 12 min before close 2. im hard of hearing and yes the air-pod wasn't the best idea but the rudeness wasn't necessary - no need to be so pushy 3. I don't hunt my customers down and run after them to tell them to hurry because were closing 4. If someone APOLOGIZES TO ME i am NICE to them instead of ignoring their existence. I absolutely love this Michaels. The place is always clean and organized, I have never run into a staff member who has given me attitude, everyone is extremely kind and helpful. Today Wendy helped me so much! That woman is absolutely fantastic. She's super knowledgeable and she explained to me which yarns I can use for my specific need and how to go about it. Totally thankful for all of her help and patience. Overall, Michaels can be a tad pricy but go in with some coupons and enjoy yourself! At the location the staff is absolutely fantastic, especially Wendy. Today I went in on a new diy project. I'm making stickers for a business and needed something to make them water resistant. I spoke with chris and dana. Dana wasnt super sure about which spray was best that I needed to use and didn't want to give me the wrong info so she called chris over. Dana was so cool and we talked about making stickers and I found out that dana is trying to make some stickers too which is funny because I never hear if anyone who makes stickers lol. Chris explained everything and he was so nice, definitely a good people person which I greatly appreciate. Michael's. The holy grail of all arts and crafts. This is one of the few places where I could lose myself easily for a few hours, just glancing at the paint & canvases alone. This location is fairly new and not to mention BIG. They have everything you could possibly need. I actually took the Wilton cake decorating classes here. They were ridiculously cheap and not to mention tons of fun. They have a lot of classes here if you're interested. A few reasons why you should love (not like) LOVE Michael's: 1. Classes (like I said, super fun and affordable!) 2. The amount of crafts will blow your mind. 3. Always stocked. This location is awesome. 4. For the most part everything is reasonably prices (with the sales) And if not.... the one most important thing to know about this store is... 5. COUPONS. Use them wisely. Speaking as a former employee, this Michael's is new (as of July 2010) and is efficient. The workers work hard to keep the store organized and help you find what you need. Speaking as a customer, this Michael's feels a little smaller than other Michael's. It lacks a big wood section like the store in westbury, but it does carry a variety of things. Michael's is a CRAFTY store and more for casual artists. If your more of a serious painter or an art student like me, looking for specific supplies, you won't find them here (or they'll cost an arm and a leg). You're better off looking at Utrecht Art supplies in Carle Place or DaVinci Art Supply in NYC. I prefer this Michaels over other ones, it's much cleaner and neater. read more

I came here to paint some shoes for my little sister (yes, you read me right!) I made her some "Galaxy Shoes" with constellations and, well... Galaxies on them in her choice of colors - she chose pink, green and purple all neon. For this I used children's water-paint, coated with a top-notch sealant to avoid washing away. I will try to remember to post pictures tomorrow - they came out great and super funky! Anyways... The employees here are very kind and I was greeted several times by different employees and asked if I needed anything. I said no, I knew what I wanted - I walked out with 4 paint tubes (about 3-4oz each) of the colors above and a big 8oz or so of white for the stars and paid under 7$. The smaller tubes were about .60$ each and the large white one was about 2$. Great prices! The location is very convenient if you're in the area, it is right off the freeway. The selection here is enormous! They have something for everyone ranging from silly craft projects like I was doing to professional equipment, canvas, even fondue pots and Vday items! read more

They have a large selection of items and the people who work there are really friendly and helped me find a coupon. I ended up purchasing things that should have came out to over $60 but with sales and coupons, I paid only $23! I purchased enough materials to make 3 wreaths! The manager refused to take a refund. As the item was opened. The product was found to be defective and returned the next day. I has to call cooperate to plead my case. They agreed with me, and forced the manager to take the return. read more

The best things about this visit were the items themselves. The staff was very inattentive, I don't usually go to this location, I generally frequent the Levittown location. I was in the area and needed some art supplies and no associates offered to help or knew where the supplies I wanted even were in the store. I never actually found the embroidery floss much to my dismay, and I needed fine tip markers and eventually found ones that weren't Prismacolor price. The signing said "2 for $3" and seeing as they were $1.50 each, the sign wasn't a promotional sale, it was just math. Like, it was literally like, "Two of these makes three dollars. Another one is 4.50." Whatever. I found a really solid mason jar mug too. Their glass selection was pretty nice but the lids were soooooo tackyyyyyy. The nicest associate there was the cashier. The rest of the staff were really stuffy and creepy and around every corner not knowing anything about anything or helping me find my dang craft supplies. Go to Levittown, their sale selection is a lot nicer. AND THEIR EMBROIDERY FLOSS IS LIKE, RIGHT THERE. YOU CAN'T EVEN MISS IT, THEY GAVE IT A WHOLE AISLE. read more

I like this store a lot, but I'm very annoyed right now. I went there at 8:30 to get stuff to do an at-home paint night tonight, just to get home and realize the brushes I purchased were not in the bag. I specifically remember the male cashier handing me two bags and that was it. The bag with the brushes remained behind the register for sure and was his fault that I didn't take it. And he never came running out to give me the brushes, meanwhile I'm sure he realized I had left them behind very shortly after because the store was very busy. When I got home and realized, it was already after 9 but I figured maybe I could get back there before the employees left and get the brushes I paid for since without them, I spent $50 on stuff for a paint night that wasn't going to happen. I pulled up to the store and waved to the employees who were thankfully still there. They all just looked at me and then talked to each other for a while while looking at me (probably talking about me) before they walked extremely slowly to the door all together to leave for the night (while I waited in the cold). When they got to the door, a woman told me how they closed at 9. I explained to her how yes I know that but I purchased brushes and I was hoping to do a paint night tonight, and how they were probably behind the register because the man never handed them to me. After I said that, the male cashier who had rang me up walked back immediately to where the brushes were in a bag and he almost looked annoyed that he had to get them. They handed them to me with no apology for my wasted time or inconvenience which would have made all the difference. Honestly I wouldn't have cared about the mistake/incompetence if I was treated a little bit better. Very frustrated and disappointed. read more
