Recently went to this Michael's as a family member was having a costume emergency and needed hard-to-find materials for their latest project. The selection of crafting items and supplies is extensive. Here, we were able to purchase yards of materials along with other crafting supplies that you cannot find anywhere else in New Orleans. I also need to add that not only was I satisfied with this store, but I was also very demanding and picky. The family member was very happy because she could complete her projects. Seriously, this store saved my day and gave me peace of mind as our costume emergency was over after our visit. They get two thumbs up. I highly recommend. read more

Customer service was excellent. High quality products for low cost. We Found everything we need for craft projects and lots more. Prices really were better than I thought and we were able to get products right away. Most importantly they answered questions patiently. I love craft stores. Michael's is easy to get in and get out as everything is always organized fairly well. I found what I was looking for today, a stepping stone for my daughter to make and design. There was quite a few things for cricut machines that I noticed and I am excited to check those out. We also found some ribbon for a costume, coasters to decorate, glue, and some science experiments. The glue was priced much higher than I realized ($34.99) and I found it at another store for less than half that (even with Michael's coupon!) I will continue to shop at Michael's but I will definitely be more thrifty when checking prices. read more

Straight to the point. My wife's favorite store. I've been here countless times to accompany my wife while she spends countless hours in here while I find an empty shelf to sit on. But enough picking on her! This is crafter's and decorator's paradise where you can find all the things you would need to bring your imagination to life. This location has maintained cleanliness and friendliness from staff each time we come back. They are usually stocked fairly well with most items and if not, will try to locate it for you nearby if you really need it soon. Definitely a great place to go if you're looking to decorate your home, or even build a project for yourself and/or school. read more

Despite this being the closest Michaels to where I live, I have only recently visited here. Plenty of parking in front and on the side. Walking in, everything is neat, clean and well organized. There were several employees walking around, but all were on their own mission of stocking or whatever. The check out employee was friendly enough, and got me a discount for being whatever member. There is a lot of stuff to choose from. I will be back! read more

Waited in line with only on cashier for 20 minutes another employee told me she was on break and really had a bad attitude.

The employees here are always rude and unhelpful. On this particular day, I was returning 4 items purchased with a rewards voucher. A voucher I earned from other purchases. The lady working the register said she didn't know how to do that type of return. She called for a manager. It was the same manager I've dealt with in the past who is unfriendly and has coined the phrase "take it up with customer service". The manager (short lady with a speech problem), told me I can't return the items I purchased with my $18 voucher. She said I lose the voucher and I could "take it up with customer service" as she bagged my items, refusing the return. There wasn't an option to put it back on a voucher or a store credit. I knew this was unacceptable so I went home and pulled up the FAQ section on the website while on hold with customer service. It clearly states: "If you used a Rewards voucher on your original purchase, and need to make a return, your Rewards will be issued: * Back to the same original voucher within 48 hours, if the original voucher has not passed its expirations date" After checking the expiration date on my voucher and verifying it's still valid, I called the store and asked to speak to the same manager. I'm telling her (who I believe is the same person) what I found and this lady starts yelling at me because she's not the original manager. I'm unsure how she planned to help me when she wouldn't let me speak but she was incredibly rude. It sucks that this location is most convenient for me. I'll try westgate tomorrow to see if they can process a return. read more

I visited this Michael store twice within 24 hours and each time the service was lacking. To say that there are a number of people working in there, there's always a shortage at the register, and a disconnect between those who are there in terms of using their best judgment to figure out the easiest way to get people checked out. I called for curbside service after placing an online order, and after waiting for a little more than five minutes after letting them know through the online option that I was waiting. As soon as I enter the store, I was asked randomly if I placed an online order to which I replied that I did, and then the person got on the walkie-talkie to ask someone to pull the online order. Before they even brought it up, I received an email saying that the order had been picked up. As for the second visit, there were two cashiers three people in line and we watched while they had a little bit of an informal conversation before deciding to check us all out. My experience has been better at the Harahan location, but it's entirely possible that for both shifts today, it was not their best day. read more

I really wanted to like this Michaels! It is a really nice store, in a good location, with a nicely stocked selection. Today I experienced what I would would call discrimination. As you all know Michaels is known for their grand sales and coupons; and I've recently been spending lots of time and money there as I have become somewhat of an artist. Today, was no different from any other day, I went in and racked up on stones and canvases. They had an AMAZING sale!!!!! I spent over $120. I had been holding this 25% off your entire purchase coupon because I do tend to spend a good penny when I go. Anyways, I asked the cashier, Michael, if there was anyway that I could make a return to use the 25% off discount without having to physically bring in the items that I had just purchased the previous Sunday. She gave some lame and lazy excuse about how it could be done... but that it was time consuming and that it was easier if I would just return the items. So I decided not be difficult and to take the easy route, so instead I bought duplicates of what I had planned to return so that I could use my 25% off coupon on those items instead. Sounds easy, right???? I should have been able to return my Sunday purchase and been done, right? Especially since all I wanted to do was to return items that I had spent my good earned money on. WRONG!!!! Keep in mind I had my receipt, and the items that were in my car would have totaled about a $27 return. So the cashier goes on the return the items and when she's done the items are showing about $20 due. So, I ask why there was a difference as I paid more for each of the items just that Sunday, and the sale had not changed. Her response is that the items were not showing up on my receipt. Implicating that I had swapped the products. WHY WOULD I DO THAT??? HOW WOULD IT HAVE BENEFITED ME? Especially since I had just spent $130. Keep in mind that she'd already completed the return and was about to give me the money when I questioned the cost. Then she calls the manager over the rectify the situation, he does find one of the products but not the other, which makes sense because one was defective so instead of holding the line the cashier rang two of the same items, and told me to grab another one. So, given this the manager refunds me for the costs that I paid, the price that the receipt shows. No one apologized for the implications or anything. I was prompted to return the full $120+ in items that I had just purchased, just to prove a point to show that I had no reason to lie. Their customer service SUCKS! I will not be visiting again. read more

As a professional artist I am a frequent customer at Micheals so I was happy to hear that they would be opening a location closer. Unfortunately, more often than not a woman named CINDY is working and she acts like she is absolutely miserable anytime that you ask for her help. Make sure that you don't ask her the same question twice, oh boy, she wont have a problem rudely condescending you in front of other customers. The sad thing is that I believe that she is the manager at this location! She sets a horrendous example of customer service for the employees that she is responsible for. It does not seem like she would like to work another day. I know that this location hasn't been open very long so I don't see how she can hang in there much longer and Micheals should be embarrassed for giving her any title of authority. read more

When placing a "Same day pick up" make sure to call first before going to pick it up. I received an email AND a text saying my order was ready for pick up. Just to get there, and be told it was canceled. Didn't receive a cancellation email until later in the day, after I had already gone to the store, and left. When I asked the manager about it, he shrugged his shoulders, and walked away. I had used my rewards on my same day order, and I went and picked out what I ordered myself, just to get to the check out to be told I couldn't use the rewards, and had to pay all over again (At that point there wasn't even a cancellation email!) for the order i just paid for with same day pick up. I had done same day pick up to avoid having my children walk around the store, and could have easily waited until my husband got home from work to go, if only I had gotten a cancellation notice instead of a ready for pick up notice! Who knows if I'll be refunded, or if I'll get back the rewards I used, but guess I'll just be ordering online for now on, or going elsewhere. Disappointed. read more
