If you do not already know, Michael's store sells a large selection of craft supplies, including beads, fabric, ribbon, paint, paper, artificial flowers, yarn, frames, craft machines, party supplies, home décor, etcetera. I recently stopped in to browse craft supplies for a project for a class that I am taking. I found many options for materials. Some of the prices were not the cheapest, but some other products were on sale or clearance. As I walked around the store, no employees said hello or asked me if I needed assistance. When I went to the checkout, no customers were ahead of me in line. The cashier said hello, correctly rung up my items, and told me to have a good day. I recently went to get an art print custom framed and it turned out beautifully! It was about a 2 week wait but well worth it, and they call you when it is ready to be picked up. Everyone was really friendly and when I initially went to get it framed, the lady working was very helpful, gave plenty of suggestions and was overall patient and respectful of my final choices. This store is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, which is really nice. They have every possible item you could use for holidays, crafts, and DIY projects. The prices are are bit higher than I'd prefer, but totally worth it. The only negative thing I can think of to say is that I really wish the staff had more knowledge on the items being sold, and they didn't have a nice variety of sewing items. Other than that, the staff was nice even if they didn't know much about arts and crafts in general. They were still very friendly and polite. The parking is usually decent, as its usually empty but that makes me wonder why they aren't more popular. The prices could definitely be lower, and the items for sewing, arts, and crafts could definitely be increased. Usually, I always see things for holidays, like beautiful wreaths and fake flowers, which is nice but I think selling them in kits for people to make would be better. I want to do projects to assemble myself. I really don't want them to be made for me. If I wanted pre-made decorations, I would shop on amazon. My review is of the Camp Creativity that they hold in the summer. I took my four kids there today and it was such a huge waste of time and money. First, they charge $5 per child (where many other companies offer free craft workshops...Home Depot, Pat Catan's, even JCPenney), but I called and they were making marionette puppets. Being a craft store (and charging money for it) I figured this would be much better than the little crafts you make at the library. I signed up my three girls (ages 11, 9 and 7) up and decided to walk around with my 3-year-old. I was told the craft would take 30-45 minutes. I kept checking back and my kids who are all very crafty and fully capable of cutting/pasting had no idea what they were supposed to be doing. The employee was not helping them. She was checking her texts. She didn't even have all the supplies she needed. She had to keep leaving to go find supplies and what is worse, I don't think she even understand what or how to do the craft. I had to stay there and help my girls finish the project. I kept asking the employee for help and she just didn't really know what she was doing. She kept referring back to the one instruction sheet she had. I asked if I could have one to help my girls. She said she only had one. The finished product was a deer made out of two sheets of construction paper and connected to two popsicle sticks with yarn and one (not two...) googly eyes. The things bounces but it surely is not a marionette. I expect much, much more from a craft store. I paid $15 for this craft and it took us more than 90 minutes because no one knew how to do it. I could have made this myself in my basement for free. During this experience I said loud enough for the worker to hear me (well, this was a waste of time and money....we won't bother coming back on friday to make slime) and the employee said, "The kids don't make slime. The slime is already made. They just decorate it." Why would we pay money to do that? read more
