it's been a number of years since I came into Michael's and I was pleasantly surprised at how fully stocked the shelves were given the climate for retailers these days. We were on the hunt for small glass jars for my daughter's beach-sand collection. Front of mind were those small glass jars that Klipp and seal. I can't remember the name of them. She had gotten them in the past for $1.50 to 2 dollars each. I'm guessing the tariffs have hit Michael's because they were up to nearly 4 dollars each. I can't blame Michael's. My discussed is aimed elsewhere. I would like retailers both online and brick and mortar to make a note of how much we are paying for tariffs. I think this would help prevent backlash against local shops. But I digress She found what she was looking for, and we started the self checkout process. Unsurprising, there were glitches at self check out. More proof that we need people The associate was so pleasant and informative and made the check out frustration plus not a minus. read more

We went in on a whim and to window shop. I finally found 12"X18"X3/8" closed cell foam, and not a huge roll that I'll never completely use. I've looked in several places and couldn't find it. I asked a young guy what I was looking for and gave him trade names as options. Instead of a blank stare he walked me over to the aisle. There it was. I should have gotten his name. It's for orthotics. It's an arts and crafts store and much more. Their picture framing department staff can recommend matting and frames that will compliment your photo or whatever you need mounted. I read some reviews. True, it's a large store and some items aren't marked with a price. But, they do have a large inventory and not everything is based on an industrial usage. There are what used to be called rainy day projects for children. Maybe they'll learn motor skills and knowledge that could be considered transfer of training later in life. Can't go wrong with Michaels, especially those who are into arts and crafts, flowers, furniture, decor, and beads to name a few. A lot of items are not to hard find with each product being its given area. Some items I find here can be disorganized, along with items misplaced in the wrong spot, leaving projects undone that are awkward to look at, and also finding flower pieces on the floor. Having this issue resolved would be an awesome thing to see. Customer service for the most part is okay but can improve on some levels. Besides all that, take advantage of Michaels, as there are a great number of items for everyone's interests, with a lot of gift ideas. read more

I had a very depressing experience this afternoon when I went into Michael's craft store there was plenty to buy from beautiful beautiful things, but my depression fell when I checked on the prices and what sale prices were that I could get them for that was my biggest sadness that I could ever imagine for an after Christmas discount sale. Normally after Christmas, all of the stores, special stores, the Christmas stores, clothing stores, TJ Maxx, Marshalls Burlington they all have large sales and I have to say the stores that I've already mentioned I've had phenomenal sales. I've been shopping and picking up tremendous sale items, but when I went to Michael's today, what a disappointment. I love to make crafts. I love to make wreaths and flower vases ,I just look at things and they hit me if I find a metal vase or a glass vase, and then find some flowers that I could put up in my room and change the style of the decor of a room. I'll do it and I've been so lucky in the past with Michael's granted they were a little expensive, but you always got quality and you still do get quality, but the prices OMG!! First of all all the prices are off the charts and they make them 70 to 60% off however, you're not getting any bargains. The prices are still high. You're not getting any sale prices at all. I can guarantee you they will box that merchandise up and sell it again next year how disappointing They had Christmas ornaments they had wreaths. They had beautiful, beautiful things and I can guarantee it will all be boxed up and sold again next year unless they lower it and people we all know that that's what's gonna happen and that is so sad people do not have the money for the rip off items that they are putting out their marking up and then Bringing the price down 70% and let me tell you the prices are still sky high. For instance, my biggest area that I enjoy working in is flowers and wreaths and that type of thing you can get a $20 say one flower and it'll be 70% off. I'm not sure what that is but it doesn't come down too much off you can go into TJ Maxx or Marshalls and get an entire bouquet for what you would pay for one flower in Michael's so I rest my case on that issue you can get in Michael's their candles are usually four candles for $10 or $12 and they're cheap and they they don't really smell good. They're just rip off candles. You can go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls and get all kinds of elegant candles. They're all different prices and they bring them down a couple dollars but they're worth it. They're unique, like something you would find in Woodstock, New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Beacon. All a bit cheaper looking than the Dollar Stores, but still nice, but unique like the upper class stores. Nonetheless Michael's, I found to be overpriced and the sale didn't really make things equal a sale to me a big disappointment. I think most of what they have in that store is gonna be put in boxes and put away for next year, I don't think many people will buy what's left in the store. I think the merchandise will be Kept until next year. I think if they bring their prices down, they will get rid of most of the merchandise, however it was a big disappointment to me and that's all I can say if I go to other stores, I may find the same thing but for me, I will stick with TJ Maxx and Marshalls and Burlington where I will find the moderate prices that are still marked down And the prices to me same quality merchandise and the prices seem to be moderately priced. But we have to remember one thing when you go into any store today you're not gonna find a bargain anywhere you're gonna find prices high so keep that in mind when you read this review if you really want quality, you will find it at Michaels, but you will pay the price read more

I brought in numerous items from working the national championship football game. They framed everything for me at just under $500. When I picked up my frame and brought it home, I realized they didn't include one of the pins that was given to me as an employee. I called and they looked for the pin for a day and said they could not find it. It's lost. This is an item that is now irreplaceable. When I spoke to the store manager, all she could say is I looked online and I see pins like this cost $8.99. And I need to realize mistakes happen so they will buy me another pin like the one that I had. I explained to her 100 times this pin that I've trusted them with was for employees only and I demand a major discount which they are denying. So I'm recommending saving yourself the trouble and money and use Hobby Lobby who has never lost anything of mine and the customer service is much better. Ps.... A large store! Not always the easiest to find what you need but the staff is knowledgeable and always are able to give me help and direction which is great. As a tip you can check online for a particular item you are looking for and see if it is offered at specific store. Also always go to their website to see if they have a coupon available. A good craft store that would probably satisfy most needs of a crafter. read more

So it seems like the majority of reviews here are discussing the issues with not being able to find someone to help you when you need them. I get that, as I've experienced that. It's what prevents me from giving 5 stars. But there's so much to Michael's that makes it THE craft shop to frequent that I can overlook that (and also, I like to meander to aisles unseen so I can get myself in trouble by buying something I didn't need or looking through a unique clearance section). Firstly, Michael's has easily accessible mobile coupons that are often really good overall. I've found many "20% off regular and sale purchase" coupons when just searching on my mobile device. If you sign up for the Michael's rewards card, you'll get great coupons often in the mail, like 40% off your entire purchase. Secondly, it has such a nice, vibrant, open floor plan. Everything at AC Moore, and especially Jo-Anns, is so cramped that you feel overwhelmed quickly by everything while finding it difficult to find what you need. Yes, you'll have a similar difficulty at Michael's as with any craft store, but you feel comfortable to explore. Things are often (but not always) in logical places, so if you've been a couple of times, you can expect similar items to be in similar places when you come back another time. I also find that there are a lot of unique, interesting things at Michael's that other craft stores just don't have. I usually get all of my frames at Michael's, and have made some cute projects ('Big dipper' and 'Little dipper' shirts for my husband and daughter for father's day 2015!) that took less than 5 minutes to plan because of how easy it is to find things here. I really like Michael's and haven't attended AC Moore and Jo-ann's in years because of how much I enjoy this store. Perhaps weekends during December aren't the best time to shop here? You would think that a store specializing in hobbies, crafts, and holiday stuff would bring their A game this time of year. It felt today like it was their C-minus game. The Christmas supplies in the front to the left were really picked over, many shelves empty or seriously in need of reorganizing. There were items - or even worse - PIECES of items - on the shelves and floors. One of the wooden shelves on which wicker baskets were supposed to be on display was broken and could hold nothing. It also looked like the floor hasn't been swept or mopped in at least a week, and at some point, the floor evidently got glitter bombed as well. This store, did not live up to the inventory or quality I've come to expect at the Michael's stores. read more

So, I have to admit: I'm secretly a 60-year-old-woman who loves to scrapbook! Phew, now that it's off my chest, I can attest to the great scrapbooking deals I always find at Michaels. Not only do they have multiple aisles dedicated to colorful pages, fancy stickers and affordable 10"x10" scrapbooks, there is always a sale! I need to limit my time in the store because I always end up coming out with so much more than I planned. I scored big this past Black Friday when they had a 3/$10 deal on those scrapbooks (normally, $10 each!). Oh, and everything else is great too - I can get great scented candles, various stocking stuffers, and any other craft my little heart desires. I love Michaels. As a person new to crafting, it's so convenient to drive 2 mins to a jumbo craft room! Their variety of things t choose from is amazing. I've just gotten in creating moss art and everything I need is there. Yes, there is the occasional "where did it go?" Because they constantly move things around. That's a marketing ploy to get you to wander to find it and stumble upon something else. My review would have been 5 stars if HOBBY LOBBY wasn't 6 minutes away. Half the price!!!! Blows my mind. Michaels needs to price match or at least drop things by $1. However, my creativity does flow better when at a Michaels though so I'll still be a customer no matter what. read more

Wait a minute, are me & Mike M the only people on Yelp to check out this Michael's? Come on people get off the internet once and a while and do something crafty! The area has a fair amount of craft/art supply stores but this is my favorite to go to for my craft fix. I do not get jewelry supplies here as I find them rather cheap in quality and can easily be spotted on Etsy. I've been getting a lot of yarn and knitting/crochet/embroidery supplies here which they have plenty of. They have great sales going on all the time too which is great for necessities.. The store is well organized, clean and well lit. Unlike other places that are either a little depressing and run down looking or just overbearing with their religious message and creepy floor staff. I'll tolerate the ride on Route 9 a little longer just to by pass the other spots and hit up Michaels. read more

Employees are always friendly, helpful and not overwhelming. Store is clean and well organized. There are always lots of discounts on holiday items/decorations. I'm not to crazy about the picture frame section- I find it to be a bit overpriced. But I'll continue to be a frequent shopper for all my craft needs. read more

FYI - Bought a picture with matting from a studio - support artists - bought the frame at Michael's and asked to pay to trim the excess matting. They absolutely refused unless it's their matting. Go to Village Frame Shop. Super nice and helpful without being corporate and legally spooked. read more

They have tons of stuff: paints, canvases, brushes, clay, glue, jewelry supplies, home decorating, picture frames (and they do framing on the premises, as well), kid's crafts, artificial flowers, wedding/party favors, unfinished wood projects, candle making supplies, doll making supplies, etc. Yeah, they have a lot of things to keep you busy. I frequent this Michaels' often, it has MOST of my arts and crafts needs. Great prices, they always have good sales, and I can spend an hour in there browsing when I really only need 1 thing. Of the 4 arts and craft stores in the area (AC Moore, JoAnn's, and the recently opened Hobby Lobby) this is probably the best. read more
