Why did I go to this store again?! I realize the world is TRYING to do away with human cashiers. But I normally enjoy HUMAN interaction. And I defiantly support employing the fine people of Round Rock. All of the registers here are now self check out except for one. No-one was helping the customers that were experiencing trouble checking out. The one human at the register should have had a sign that says, "I hate my job" hanging around his neck. This is for the framing center. Two stars for the store in general. Zero stars for framing. We've literally framed thousands of dollars at Michaels. Not this one. Dropped off a custom commissioned drawing. It is irreplaceable. That went well. In three weeks got an email to pick it up. Just kidding. The framer quit and as a parting gift notified all clients, done or not, to get their framing projects. Jokes on us. Fast forward six weeks and still waiting. Tried to call multiple times and when you select the option for a representative it immediately hangs up. As if someone picks up the phone and puts it back down. Waited another week and went in. It was lost. They found the physical picture in a stack. Nothing in the computer. Manager shows and it is found. Beyond frustrating given the past experience at a Michaels elsewhere. Harsh words exchanged and refund given. Stepped over the children rolling around the floor by the bathroom, never to return. Quite honestly they are probably relieved. read more

Michaels Crafts stores are a mess. Inventory is exhausted in numerous items and isn't replenished. Stock locations are a mess with similar items mixed. I've stopped using ANY of their stores becasue this issue is common to every location. This review is not intended to reflect on their framing service, which is fine. We agreed with everything we all put together. Her input made our purchase perfect! What a talented and friendly person! We will always take our art to Michaels. I made a visit to my favorite Michaels. I needed to get a picture cut so I could fit it into a picture frame. It was no line on a Sunday. And the person who helped me quickly understood the request. This is the Michaels location closest to my house. Is it the best? No. They don't put out their jewelry supply stock until Saturday (even though it arrives on Friday) and the sales end on Saturday. Kinda poopy. Most of the staff are pretty nice here. The Lakeline location usually has a better selection and they are quicker at stocking so you don't miss out on sales. read more

This is the Michaels that I visit regularly, whether it is for stamping/scrapbooking supplies, picture frames, or crafts for my daughter. After visiting several other area Michaels stores, I realized that this location is by far the best. The store is larger and able to carry a larger selection of goods. It is not cramped to the point that I feel uncomfortable shopping, as if I'm in the way of the employees. My visit today was particularly pleasant thanks to the cashier. She was in a great mood and we joked together while I made a return and then a subsequent purchase. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name. All in all, I appreciate that this is the store in my neighborhood. I would rather shop here than the other hobby store. read more

I dropped something off to be framed and asked for it to delivered by a certain date because it was a gift. It was a couple days shy of their minimum framing time but they said they would do their best. My preferred date came and went, I wasn't too worried because I picked up another gift and figured this would be a bonus when its complete. Well, the date they said it would for sure be done by has come and gone by about a week so I decided to call and see if they had an update. If you call the number for the store, you get a 20 second long message about "joining the team" that you can't skip then it gives you 4 options, 1 store hours, 2 location of the store, 3 talk to a team member and 4 hold to talk to a team member. If you press 3 or hold, it rings once then hangs up the phone. It has been like that for two days now (at least that's when I started trying, who knows how long before that). Now, I'm going to have to drive down there and talk to them in person to find out what is going on. It seems like someone in the store, like the manager perhaps, would notice the phone hasn't rang in some time and check it out... read more

I want to say that Jennifer is amazing! She was so patient, kind and helpful to me. I am the most craft challenged shopper that has ever walked through the doors into Michael's. Jennifer went above and beyond helping me figure out just what I might want to purchase as I begin journaling. The holidays just ended, the store was closing in a hour, and yet she was very willing to help me as I tried to explain what I wanted (although I am fairly certain I used all incorrect terminology for journaling). I needed picture frames and this is one of the only (next to Hobby Lobby) that gives you a varied selection of quality items. In fact, more so, than Hobby Lobby in my opinion since the costs and variety was much larger in ranges. Melissa at the check out was great help by offering me a discount since I did not want the BOGO option of a product that was on sale. The deal for BOGO was good.. I just did not need two of the things (picture frames). The manager in the framing section was a great help. All the employees were willing to go that extra step to get me what I was looking for or give me the ideas I needed. Teacher's discounts. If you like to take a walk on the wild side, forget your coupon and ask the lady to take it off anyway. She just might. The 1-star: Framing. UGH. Lord help them. For work, I didn't have enough time to send it off for custom framing (2-3 weeks), so I chose a frame in-store to get matted. 2 large frames matted cost $180. WHOA! And that was with a discount!!! The biggest problem is that when I went to pick up my order, the frames had large scratches on the plastic part. Because I had to take it with me THAT DAY, we went through every frame of the same size and they were all messed up. The best they could do was find the 2 with the least scratching and give me a 25% discount. They even said, "I wouldn't recommend the plastic frames we sell." Would have been nice to know at the initial meeting, yes? I appreciate them working with me to find a solution, but there was really no good solution except never going to them in the first place. You would have thought I was speaking the language of the trolls, because the girl on the phone acted like she had no clue what I was talking about. She transferred me to someone who assured me they had it. Well I drive all the way out there and GUESS WHAT, its not there. When I asked about it the person working there was like oh we won't be getting that stuff anymore. So I walk around a little more and see an item display where the stuff should be. So, trying to give them one more chance I ask, when will the stuff for this display be set up...um.....hmm.... Why are you working here if you don't know anything about the place your working at. I usually don't do this but I felt in this instance I should. I'm usually pretty chill and easy going but I'm BIG on customer service because it costs nothing and that's what the employee agreed to when they accepted the customer service position. At this particular location I'm never greeted when I come to this store nor am I ever offered any assistance. I have come to this store several times and I have even looked like I needed assistance and no one assisted. (The constant back and forth on aisles) No I didn't ask because I'm huge on energy so if you show me you don't want to be bothered I won't bother. I let it slide and let it slide until today. There was a person being helped ahead of me so I took that time to pull up my coupon. While I was looking the person ahead of me already walked off but I didn't know because the cashier didn't make it known he was available. So as I approach I say Hello! And he says absolutely nothing. He's reaching his hand out to grab the items and I say HI and the he says hi. He doesn't ask if I'll be using a coupon or if I found everything ok...absolutely nothing. He only asked if I was a rewards member and I didn't want to speak at that point so I just entered in my credentials, paid for my items, got my receipt and left. I didn't get his name because he wasn't wearing a name tag. It's not just him it's the MAJORITY of the employees at the store and I wish I had documented every time I had an unpleasant experience because this is annoying. If you're having a bad day call out. This Michaels was very large and seemed to carry lots of stuff. I needed to find some sticky felt fabrics and it was very hard to locate seeing as how I could not find any signs to help myself. I went through the whole store and found no floor associates to help me in the end I was able to get a hold of a guy working in the back where the picture portraits section was. He almost didn't hear me and was going to go away -.-... he also said all the associates were busy at the cashier seeing as how they are super busy but I only saw two cashiers so ..... maybe understaffed? I have a couple of blisters cause I was stupid enough to come in here with high heels. well I got what I was looking for sticky felt fabric which surprisingly was not at Hobby Lobby or Walmart. I signed my kids up for the creative camp this summer. It was supposed to be an hour long art project. When we got in the room we were not greeted and had no idea what to do. There were two employees in the room just doing their own thing. Finally got the kids settled and I walked around the store and checked in every so often. My kids seemed to have little to no direction on what to do and were kind of just doing there own thing. I had to ask for brushes for them and help given them directions on a project the employees should have been leading. It lasted a whole 20 minutes. I really like this Michael's, the Great Hills store is slightly closer to me but I go the extra 2 or 3 miles for this store. They are usually well-stocked and the staff are all very friendly and knowledgable. They also let you bring your dog shopping with you and my dig gets all sorts of love and pets when we go there. I haven't used the framing department so I can't can't comment on the quality/cost of their services but there is a very nice lady who withdrew back there who is happy to help you find what you need in their ready-made frames. read more

I had a FANTASTIC experience at this Michael's location, specifically with the framing department and in particular, Gaye. Gaye was super helpful, professional and worked with me for over an hour to ensure that my frame was perfect! My initial order was lost in the system but she rebuilt if from scratch and it turned out even better. The frame was for a new veterans organization that I wanted to present and have hung in a stated agency. Therefore, Gaye took the time to make sure every detail was just perfect. Additionally, she found discounts for me to apply to the finished product since I was on a tight budget. Gaye even went so far as to make sure the colors and frame all matched, giving her expert opinions in a tactful and professional manner. The frame and matting look spectacular and I could not wait to present it to my organization! They LOVE It. It is by far the best looking framed piece in our showcase. I will say I have never gotten anything framed at Michaels or anywhere for that matter. So I can't tell you much there. I buy a good amount of cake decorating supplies there since they are comparable to Hobby Lobby and they take competitor's coupons. They were also the first craft store to do the mobile coupon thing a year or so back- which is a huge win for me since I always forget to print the coupon or I leave it at home in my printer! I always shop with a 40%-50% off coupon so it makes some Wilton items cheaper than even Walmart! I love the convenience of getting everything all at once. They aren't the best organized store ever but they are always busy so maybe that has something to do with it? The cashiers at this location are pretty friendly as well as the manager. read more

I give this store absolutely no stars, but the app forces me to leave at least one in order to post my review. The managers at this location are rude, disrespectful, and could care less about losing black business. One manager checked me out and was condescending while explaining coupon pricing to me. Excuse me but I've watched plenty of people that don't look like be smiled at and tolerated through their tirades about coupon pricing (trying to get over); but, she chose to disrespect me in such a way that any person would be upset. Then when I leave and call to speak to a manager she listens, and then tells me towards the end of my complaint that she's a manager. Clearly you are not who I want to speak to. The other manager gets on the phone and welcomes me with a disrespectful tone, and when I ask for a district managers number he yells at me no. Years ago I refused to shop at Michael's because I didn't feel like they welcomed other races, and this incident will definitely have me never shopping there again. I'm not your typical shopper that spends under $50 a month there. I spend between $250 and $500 a month there. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Smh read more
