I went in to get their Christmas trees saw the cutest white tree and sadly there wasn't any more in stock I had asked Isaac one of the kind employees if I could take the display (hate I was one of those people) and he was so kind and had a smile on his face whole time while helping me. Tried to return online orders and Winnie was extremely rude and got mad at me. Said customers buy stuff online and "return everything". The issue was that the POS system doesn't allow returns to be done in an easy fashion. That is not the customers fault. I would suggest training your employees or giving them authority to override the transactions. She started huffing and puffing and was rude the entire transaction. IF YOU DON'T WANT customers to order online and pick up, don't offer it. I have never been so embarrassed as a shopper in my life. She could have handled it better. Horrible customer service with staff that had no desire to take my business that would have been worth several hundred dollars. Walked in and would not be seen at the custom framing department. Attendant at the counter was doing absolutely nothing and said I needed an appointment despite there being no business and no work being done by him. Wow...they have FINALLY updated their inventory and restocked brushes at this location...it only took them 4 years... and that's no exaggeration... some of the staff recognize me from always checking to see if they have them or have ordered them... and they were just as surprised as me when they finally had them FOUR YEARS later. And it's not like they weren't able to order them or the supply was low from their supplier... because most other Michael's had them no problem. But it's really frustrating to have to go to 3 to 4 stores to get what you need, and you might say I should call ahead but with how slow they are to answer the phones and check anything it's faster to drive, plus half the time they check things for me they end up giving me bad information or checking the wrong product anyway, or even one time and employee put three badly damaged brushes on hold for me and I was like is this a joke? And she apparently didn't know that a damaged fine detail brush was 100% useless I guess. And the reason I even try to get the brushes here or not somewhere else is because there isn't any other art and craft stores nearby, and it's hard to find these fine detail sizes, and ordering online is very hit or mess because sometimes they arrive damaged or just poor quality. And the ones Michael sells, when they actually carry them, or actually pretty high-quality, and competitively priced. It's just a damn shame they are so opposed to updating their inventory count and ordering things that run out. And I asked almost everyone that works there including the managers why taking inventory was so difficult for them, and they always have a different excuse... sometimes I'm told that it's not them who takes inventory but somebody who comes into the store, other times I'm told it's all handled electronically and they have no control over it, other times I'm told that they do it themselves but they just must have not noticed those brushes. Needless to say I got a few while I was there just in case they decide to stop ordering them again. read more

Michaels is always the best place to come for all your DIY house decorating needs. My favorite is the picture frame section. They have so many picture frames to choose from- from your basic frame to more pricey fancy looking frames, and everything in between. Pretty much every picture frame in my apartment is from Michaels. They almost always have a deal going on, most of the time it is a buy one, get one free on picture frames, which I take advantage of when I'm in the market for more frames. When you checkout, there is always a 40% off coupon attached to the receipt so you can guarantee your savings next time. The only downside of the store is that it is pretty hard to find any customer service associates working in the store, but at least they won't bother you! The store is very big and clean. It is located in a big plaza along with a Target, Trader Joe's, Marshalls, and several restaurants. I will always come back to this Michaels as long as I am still in the area. read more

This is the best place if you want to shop for craft or art supplies. This store is appropriately organized and clean. The only time I come here is because I need some arts and crafts supplies as my GF loves crafting things and decorating the house. I love the location of this place because it's located with all my other favorite stores nearby such as World Market, Trader Joes, Target, Jamba Juice, etc,. I prefer going for dinner/lunch nearby after finishing my shopping in the same shopping center because of ample of dining options available! The workers here are great except for 1 or 2 who are very unprofessional and do not help the customers. Rest of them are really nice and know the location of all the things in this big store. They might even walk you to aisle where the items are. Verdict, Michaels is an awesome store and it is my first stop whenever I need arts and craft supplies. I need not go to any other store as I know Michaels has everything I need at and that too at a reasonable price. P.S. This store has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I called to put a bunch of mugs on hold & the front desk clerk hung up on me twice. He also refused to share his name, which is very shady. I drove out of my way to the store & spent over $120 on mugs. The front desk clerk claimed she was out of wrapping paper & refused to even give me paper bags to wrap it myself. I placed an online order back in June 2023 and I never received my order. I had been struggling for months trying to reach someone through the customer service line but no luck. I was expressing this frustration to Jesus as he rung me up to see if I could possibly handle this in store. He brought over his manager and she let me know that unfortunately they couldn't do anything in store. Jesus, however, went above and beyond and offered to call the customer service line himself. He did and I was finally able to speak to someone and was able to take care of it right there and then. Mind you, it had been MONTHS that I had been dealing with this and Jesus was able to resolve within 10 minutes. Michael's is lucky to have representatives like him. Terrible COVID protocol! My wife and I had just finished checking out and was on the way out of the store when a guy without a face covering walked near us and intentionally coughed once at each of us. We were both completely shocked when this happened. When we got to the exit, the store staff said that the guy had been inside the store being disrespectful towards their staff and customers. Why wasn't he turned away from entering the store without a mask? And there was no security to be seen to prevent an angry individual behaving like that in the store from impacting other customers... read more

I had the WORST customer service interaction. I had gone in with my mother around noon to get a picture put into a frame as well as put a mat around it. The guy that was helping us had the WORST customer service skills. He told us that he wasn't able to do what we were asking so we were trying to ask for solutions. Without suggesting anything thing else all he said was, in such a RUDE tone "no we can't do that" and proceeded to just stare at us as if we didn't know anything. Kinda feel bad for Michael's while looking over some of the reviews in the South Bay. Well, this one and the one in Milpitas are the only ones I've been to, and every single time the experience was pleasant enough. They have so many art supplies and goodies, that it makes your mind wander to the land of Krull. We were looking for ideas for our wedding invitations and seeing if they have any good deals. Also, Michael's always has coupons galore. That's how they get you, with coupons! The service staff was very friendly in answering all my questions and very respectful of my numerous annoying questions. They really handle themselves well here. Store has great product - but store signage is deceiving with "50%" off Halloween product at fixtures (Beware). Half of the merchandise I selected due to the awesome promotion signage was "not part of the sale"? I worked in retail many years and I was quite disappointed on the customer service I received at register when I questioned the price due to signage. If you have a fixture full of merchandise and you place a sign over the entire fixture stating 50% off halloween items - and all items are for halloween- expect people to have questions. I like this Michaels. I however have some issues with this Michaels. First off, I love the location, love the cleanliness of this space (most of the time) because Michaels can get glittertastic with a snap. What I don't love are the employees and the sales. This Michaels is awful, AWFUL with signage. I never know if something is on sale, covered by the coupon they sent out, or if it even falls under the category of "sale" or happens to be listed under the teeny tiny print beneath the barcode. I usually don't find out until I get to the register. It's frustrating. I want to buy more glitter and yet, I can not haz. I tend to feel a little bad because the employees who work the registers are usually friendly, harried, and most of them have minimal space to work in. The floor employees are my main issue mostly. They talk loudly about personal things and congregate like they're in high school. They continue sweeping the floor apathetically while they lead you to the general location you asked about since they can't tell you where it's actually located. There seem to be a couple really great ones, but the rest are minimally helpful and most look to be exceptionally young. I love being able to get the items I need, and this location is incredibly organized - they just need better help, and better signs and they'd be set. read more

I love this michaels! It's spacious, bright, clean and has a vast variety of materials! I am comparing this store to the one on tully, which i frequent because it is so close to where I live. If you've been there, it is CRAMPED. But this Michael's is just delightful to shop at. It is also conveniently in a plaza with a lot of other stores/ restaurants that I would go to (Target, Marshall's, World Market, Sallys Beauty Supply, blue mango, Trader Joe's, Wing Stop, Panera bread) so the location is just great for me for a one stop plaza shop!! I love how clean this store is. And it's well laid out. I never have problems finding new fun things. And I love going to the Clearance wall in the far left-hand side. The bathroom is multihole and clean. Whenever I've needed help, I am talked to as though I were a valued customer. The only dings are that parking can sometimes be challenging (go park in the back and walk...it's worth it) and that sometimes they get long lines with only 2 checkers. Every time, without fail, there is at least 1 rude staff member I interact with, and / or the service is achingly slow with long register lines at checkout. Love this place. I come here ALL the time for my crafts and for my Etsy business. I like to come during the week or first thing when it opens on the weekend. Usually the employees are helpful but I've come across a lot of them not being able to answer a lot of my questions. I would think a company that hires their employees would teach about the products that they sell..what they're called and what they're used for. I usually get a blank stare and an "I dunno" or an "I'm not sure". That's quite frustrating. I always end up Googling it in the store only to find out I have terrible service in it. You can find anything here. It's stuffed like Grandma's closet! They have everything you need to fabulize your holidays. All of them. Right now it's all about Valentine's day decorations. Smells like cherubs in here. I buy art frames here. They have lots of prefab frames and the ones I have had made here were well made. When they send the coupons I use the ones for the frames. My only complaint is that some things can be a little pricey. I bought a bundle of plastic flowers for $16!!! Nuts. I had arrived at the San Jose location right when the doors were supposed to open and ended up having to wait nearly an hour along with others that had ended up leaving. While waiting, I even watched one of the employees walk in 20 minutes later and open the doors probably twenty more minutes later. When they finally opened the doors, she apologized saying that the registers were down, I understand that it becomes an inconvenient but I had come to look around and shop first which I could've been doing while they were fixing their system. So Michael's Crafts can be a bit overwhelming if you are not a craft "pro". I was in a hurry, as usual, I showed up to the store 30 minutes before closing. Doesn't leave a lot of time to shop. I was trying to find enchanted forest theme flowers for my daughter's sorority event. Finally, I found many items and get to the register just as it turned 9 o'clock. Uh-oh, I'm the last one in the store. A little short on cash & in a hurry so employees could close up shop, I was faced with what I wanted to buy, what I could actually afford, and why I didn't have a coupon ready prior to my purchase. Well, STEPHANIE, the friendly staff associate, was able to simplify my purchase, get me the discounted items I liked and made the process so smooth and uncomplicated I was AMAZED. They don't have adequate bags for art supplies. There is no handle. They are paper bags, small, and rip to easily. If you are selling bigger items like canvas, then why would you get rid of the bigger bags they used to have that would fit them? I have to walk up 3 flights of stairs, so I need a bag with handles. I would pay for the bigger bigs. Not sure why you have an art store with bags with no handles anyway. AWFUL. Will not shop in-store anymore. read more

Michael's may or may not carry rhinestones in all the colors of a large box of crayola crayons. Michael's may or may not have an applicator called the "Bedazzler" about which the staff knows a great deal and can provide you with a good overview. Michael's may or may not have more iron-on lettering in one place than a Junior High sports department. Michael's may or may not have acrylic paints that adhere perfectly to polyester fabric straight from China. These paints may or may not also come with glitter. There are frames and scrapbooking materials, but for the life of me, I could not figure out what they had to do with snuggies. I assume this was some sort of ordering mix-up. And if you can find them, the staff are helpful, although the stock on the shelves is often mispriced. After entering the store, I go through the maze of Halloween decorations, beading supplies, fake plants and other crafty items trying to find my way to the knitting area. Once I'm there I can easily find my needles...now the daunting task of figuring out which yarn to use. This isn't just the color or texture issue one would expect. I was a virgin knitter...never working my fingers with needle nor yarn in that fashion and no one there to guide my way as I attempted to supply myself with the tools I needed to succeed on my quest. After going back and forth down the aisle reading the back of a variety of packages I remembered that I saw some young workers stocking supplies on my way to this section. After tracking them down things went quickly downhill... Me: "Excuse me, could you help me figure out what kind of yarn I need for this size of knitting needles?" Worker: With bewildered look, "I have no idea." Me: "Is there anyone in the store that might have an idea?" Worker: "Ummm...try the lady at the customer service desk." You could physically see the relief in her face as I accepted that answer and started to walk away. After maneuvering my way back through to the opposite end of the store I waited for the cashier to finish with her current customer to ask my question... Me: "Hello, I heard that you might know something about knitting." CS Lady: "No, not really. What do you want to know?" Me: "I'm trying to figure out what yarn matches with these needles," while waving the package for her to see. CS Lady: "Did you read the labels on the back of the packages? They tell you." Me: "Yes, I did and none of them say 8...most of them say 4 or 10." CS Lady: "Hmmm...I'm not really sure." Me: With the best attempt at not sounding frustrated, "That's okay...I'll figure it out myself." So yeah...this isn't the first time I've had such an experience. I generally have better luck asking fellow shoppers browsing the same areas I'm looking through to get advice. The stars are merely for the vast options of craft ideas, products and crap available at Michael's.
