The explanation was easy to understand and the tools were cute. The pricing goes either by hour or by board, whichever is lesser. We opted for two small boards and one medium board. There is a wide variety of colors for selection as well as different transparencies. Since we were new to perler beads, our start was a little slow but eventually we got the hang of it. At one point, I reached a dilemma. I wanted to make Momonga but she wouldn't fit in the remaining space of my board. Just then, the instructor came by and chatted with me. I told her my dilemma and after a brief moment, she suggested making the tail in the empty corner of my board and later attach it by jump ring. Brilliant. I noticed she often checked up on people's projects, answered questions, and chatted with them about the characters they were making (both for my group and the tufting group behind us). She dropped by to show me the perler Momonga her coworker made (very cute!). Later, she came back excited, and showed me another idea I could use for Momonga's tail. She showed me a pivot attachment that would make it so the tail would be attached in the back and swing around. She asked if I wanted to try this instead. Yes thank you, it's absolutely perfect!! I wish I got the instructor's name but I was too shy to ask at the end (agh). She was so kind, helpful, and relatable. She really made my crafting experience great and I'm so happy to have had her on my birthday!!

Just a very chill vibe to get your creativity juices flowing. My friends had signed up for a rug…read moretufting session, but we also saw some people assembling tiny beads together into an image. They let me stick around even though I hadn't signed up, so I just took pictures of the process. For the tufting session, you pick a flat image of what you want to make ahead of time. The instructor then will give advice on how to go about putting together your creation. After that, you link the image to the projector and it projects onto your canvas. You then outline the image. Then comes the fun part: the tufting tutorial. The instructor spends about thirty minutes teaching everyone how to use the tufting gun and then has each person practice on a large canvas. After that, you pick your yarn color and tuft away! Apparently, it took four hours for my friends to complete their tufted rugs, but they turned out so cute! They even stayed open past closing hours to let my friends finish. We need more artistic spaces like this.

The process is fairly simple, you go in and pick your ceramic pieces to paint. Each ceramic piece has a different cost, and then there is a fee charged on top of that per painter. You get unlimited paints and tools to use, as well as unlimited time for painting. When you are done, you leave it with the front desk to fire up and pick up the finished result several days later. Would totally come here again for date night, girls night, or just a family activity. It is very group friendly. You can also come here solo if you've got some down time.

The first time I came to Kawaii DIY was July 2025. The owner (Kawa) told me that the business was…read morerun by her and her mother and that she played the game, Love & Deepspace. Not only did I leave the studio a glowing review (see below for first picture I took there, 5 star review since deleted), I gave her insight into the local LADS community because I believed that her space could be used for events. At the time, my team and I were planning our first LADS event and I DM'd the studio a few days after my visit to set up a business connection. Whoever responded said they're not involved in the company's marketing decisions. Understandable, but they did not pass me along to someone who was nor did they respond to my final message. I suspect it was Kawa behind the screen because she was actively making content and monitoring the studio's social media page the entirety of my visit. Moving along to Summer 2026. Kawaii DIY is pumping out LADS events that include cosplayers. For the one themed after the game's "Spring & Flowers" banner, I commented under the "featured cosplayer" post of the cosplayer friend I was planning to support the day of, suggesting that the studio choose a photo where their face/hair and makeup were clearly visible considering they work so hard on their cosplay for next time. The post was published late at night, around 11pm, which leads me to believe the studio was rushing, so I wasn't harsh in my critique at all. I received no response. The following morning after that featured post was published, my best friend and I came to the studio to support our cosplay friend. We did not plan on participating in the deco so we did not make an RSVP for it. At the time, my friend (cosplayer) was not busy so we stayed to take pictures with them at the backdrop, part of the draw for the event. Kawa was helping the other guests, but another person, who I can only assume is her mother, kept circling the three of us looking unhappy. At one point, she asked my best friend if she had made an RSVP for deco. She said no, just the mini art market. Instead of welcoming us anyway, having us leave, or explaining the rules, the mother simply walked away. Immediately, there was an air of hostility. We browsed the mini art market as potential customers, so we had every right to be there. I encourage you to look through your camera recordings to verify our presence, as you often do anyway for customers who leave a negative review (which is also within their right). It'll be the last time you'll see us there. At this point in time, my team's social media page is doing well. We enjoy promoting local LADS events and cosplayers. On behalf of my team, I posted a story group picture with the volunteer cosplayers that included the studio's name. I did not actually tag them because it was not required to tag them at the time, and I felt that the mother was rude. On my own page, I posted a reel promoting my cosplayer friend as they are still new to the space. Once again, I did not tag the studio for the aforementioned reasons. A few days later, Kawaii DIY Studio published a post about their policies. This included making RSVPs in advance and crediting them for their work through tags that needed to be pre-approved. It is their business, their rules. But the guidelines felt strict and the wording was very passionate in comparison to their older posts. Multiple LADS community members reached out to me deducing that the new guidelines were written because of my actions. I have stayed silent for a long time because I do want a woman-owned business to succeed and think that Kawaii DIY does bring charm to the Bay Area. However, it's recently come to my attention that they've taken down all of their featured cosplayer posts and speak ill of them behind their backs despite them volunteering their time to cultivate an immersive experience. They've also blocked me and my team on social media when our prior suggestions have been constructive, not harmful. LADS players, please continue to do whatever makes you happy especially during such a tumultuous time for us. I just urge you to do your research before giving your money and time. Note the expedited rate at which the studio's events are created, the value of the goods sold, and their responses to any kind of constructive criticism. Do not attack the studio and reach out to me directly if you have follow up questions. Kawa, if you're reading this, I really hoped that we could be friends because it seemed that we hit it off the first time we met. I'm sad it's come to this, but I do not appreciate the unprofessionalism. Please learn from this. As a LADS player yourself, you should know that the community deserves better.

They had heart shaped silicon molds for making cupcakes, stickers, gift bags and decor. They also had valentine hair accessories. I found a cute hair clip that I wanted to purchase. All the valentines items were 40% off, which was a great deal. There was a small section of St. Patrick's Day items, as well. At the checkout you have the option for self checkout or checkout with an employee. There was a customer being helped at a register and two were checking out at the self checkout. An employee directed me to an available self checkout which worked out great. I was in and out of there within 15 minutes total. I really love that they offer self checkout. I remember in the past when you'd have to wait in a crazy long line with only two registers open. The self checkout eliminates this long wait. It makes the shopping experience so much better.

I was thinking that I could get a frame off their shelves, but I quickly realized that the poster had uncommon dimensions. I had no choice but to get a custom frame for it. I was assisted by a young gentleman, who was very friendly and helpful. I'm the worst when it comes to making decisions. I have to analyze every little thing, and then I get stuck in analysis paralysis. The associate was so patient with me, and he didn't rush me through the process. I also feel like he didn't limit me on variations of frame colors and matboard. He brought out everything to ensure that I had considered all my options. I relied heavily on his guidance and settled on an elegant thin silver frame with a blue mat. I called Michael's a week after the expected due date and was informed that it would be ready the following day. I was glad to see that the gentleman who helped me with my custom frame was the same person checking out my product. He carefully laid the framed print out, and I was stunned by how amazingly cohesive the frame and matting looked with the overall print. It was honestly perfect. I also got to make a picture frame using decoden art - picking out my favorite charms and decorating the frame one by one. As you can tell, I chose food- and toy-themed charms to reflect my hobbies.
