My son had such a wonderful experience at this art camp! It felt very close-knit, with high-energy instructors, strong supervision, and so many thoughtful details that kept the kids engaged. He came home excitedly telling me all about his day and the projects he made. I loved that they made the experience feel special--providing lunch, visiting places like California Pizza Kitchen and the Hello Kitty Cafe, walking around nearby stores, and incorporating creative projects along the way. At pickup, I even got to "buy" one of my sons sweet art pieces from his little $5 sale. So cute! The only challenge for us is logistics: the drive is about 35 minutes with traffic, and Valley Fair parking can be difficult, making for a long commute day. Because of that, we will probably save it for school holidays rather than use it regularly. But it is absolutely a high-quality camp, and I would love to return for another art class in the future. read more

I had a rare weekday off with one of my daughters. I asked her what she wanted to do, and she said that she wanted to go somewhere with me and make art together. I was stumped. Aside from Petroglyph and Tutugether--neither of which was the least bit appealing--I couldn't come up with anything. I looked online for a while, and then suggested that we just go and wander around Valley Fair for a while before picking her sister up. I happened to park at Monroe St, and we took the elevator up, the escalator down, and TADA! We were magically standing right in front of this place! We had the most delightfully incredible time making little lands together. She's sweetly said that she wanted to make Mal from The Descendants, and the staff helped her with this. The only cons: it was a bit warm in the room, prices have increased quite a bit recently. Would recommend if your budget allows. Take the earliest time slot if you do. So, we waited a few minutes until she came to the front. We inquired if they were accepting walk-ins, and she asked us to stand there while she called someone. We waited for about 20 minutes, and people who arrived after us were already seated. We approached her again to ask if they were still accepting walk-ins, but she was even more rude. I requested to speak to the manager, but she refused to do so and stated that she would not take any disciplinary action against herself, regardless of who I spoke to. I felt uncomfortable leaving my child alone with her. If that's how she treats adults, I can't imagine how she treats children who are left under her care. read more

Purchased a class for my daughter in 2022 and when I found out they were still requiring the kids to mask up to enter, even though the county was no longer enforcing it I asked for a refund. The owner refused and only gave me a credit. 2 years later (2024) I tried again, was told the class only includes drawing on white paper with pencil, in order to do anything else you have to pay additional fees. What a scam. Also, I observed a few of their instructors on their phones and not interacting in a friendly and happy manner with the students. Young Art at Valley Fair seems like a fun concept, but my experience was unfortunately mixed. While the idea of a drop-in art studio for kids is great, the way they prioritize customers leaves something to be desired. Here's what happened: I was waiting in line with a few other people who had reservations or were ready to pay. Then, a couple with two kids stopped outside the entrance, just observing. The receptionist completely ignored those of us in line, went over to the family, and spent a good 5+ minutes chatting, painting a butterfly on one kid's hand, and even painting another child's nails. I understand being understaffed, but a simple acknowledgment or even having a self check-in system for existing customers would have gone a long way. It felt like walk-ins and potential new customers were always given priority. Overall: Young Art might be fine if you just need a place to drop the kids off while you shop. But if you're serious about your child learning art, I'd recommend looking for a studio with a bit more focus on existing students. Considering the unsatisfied experience so far and the parking burden coming here, I just wish they can give me refund read more

The pricing/package here is inconsistent. On a prior visit, our child was allowed to work independently and was charged a reasonable price. Then today we came back and asked for that same package but was not offered and no explanation was provided. If you changed your pricing, it would be nice to let the customers know. But even so, increasing the pricing two folds would be very unreasonable. I don't believe there has been a change in pricing but rather there's miscommunication between management and those working there as to what packages can be offered. We are new to Young Art thanks to Silicon Valley Toddlers suggestion. We have taken 4 or 5 art classes since shelter in place began. When young art first launched this option, suggested ages were not included and we joined an advanced class accidentally. I visited here a couple of years ago, and it had really been an unsatisfied experience. They did the whole painting for my son, and he did not do any of it. We had credits for more sessions and asked for a refund, and they would not. I had left a review before, but they had called out my sons name, and I keep that private. Long overdue review. We've been coming here for ~6 years with gaps in between. Great place to bring your child to make a gift for a grandparent. We also utilize the camps (available during school breaks and also Saturdays and Sundays). Love the flexibility and cancellation policy. You won't find a better one. Camp credits are transferrable between families. One of my children was sick this week, so the healthy one brought a friend. After playing at the indoor playground outside the store for a while, my son insisted that I take him into Young Art, maybe he saw the drawings of his fav cartoon PJ Masks hanging on the wall. Went inside, the Asian lady was very welcoming and showed us the different package we can do, since we don't live in the area, she even told us which location was the closest to me in case we want to do it again. We chose the 30min lesson for my son to draw catboy from PJM. Teacher Sophia was very patient with my son who doesn't have any whatsoever. Since it was not busy at all, she was able to guide my son with the drawing and coloring most of the whole time, but like other reviews pointed out, when busy, your child will be sharing the teachers. While waiting, the Asian lady came over to my wife and showed her the paint and other art supplies they use, demonstrated that they can be washed off easily and none toxic. Some review said the lady was trying to hard sell which I do agree in a way, she didn't push hard to sell lesson packages probably because we don't live near one of their locations. But again, since I was once worked in sales, I can totally understand why she is doing that. So give her a break. Overall a great and fun experience here! give it a try, although he lost interest half way.... I think it will be more fun for older kids like 4 and up (my son is only 3). I have brought my kids to young art for a few months now. The first time we came in, my 5 year old was a little shy and so we waited until my older daughter was back from a trip and took them both in! We were a little nervous leaving them somewhere without us being present. We started with 30 minutes, and came back to check on them and extended for another 30 minutes! When we came back, our kids did not want to leave! Now, weekends come about and they ask to go there! Which is amazing because it allows us adults some MUCH NEEDED time together. I also had a HUGE party over the weekend and had young art there. 3 instructors for 3 hours. Face painting, Painting, Drawing Clay/slime art- and I do mean ART! Our first time here! Baby sitting my best buddy's daughter. She loves drawing/painting, while waiting for Din Tai Fung, we figured painting should be fun! And fun it was! Young kids attending school while working PT here. I enjoyed Gia helps on my first piece of art very much. Ginhee was very sweet and helpful. She did suggested for us to do more sessions. Like any business, up-sell is a must! However she wasn't pushing at all. She was just giving us an option, and I appreciate that. I'm glad I didn't pay toward the end. My friend's daughter ended up enjoy it as much as I did so we committed for 6 hours at $190, I thought it was a bargain! Summer is here and what's a better way to spend time with my friends' kids :-) We are already looking forward coming back for more sessions! Can't wait to see what I get to paint next! This is our kids favorite spot. We pre bought a package with hours and not only do our kids love coming here at least once a month, this place has also been great about hosting camps during breaks. There's a variety of options from simple drawing, 3D art, and painting. The staff is extremely attentive and care about the kids. We started our youngest son at 3 years old and while he was squirmy (one time they took a pillow out and thought he was going to fall asleep in class due to a missed nap), but the teachers are patient and my squirmy 3 year old now looks forward to it. My 6 year old can handle the more advanced art projects and love the variety. Big plus - parents drop off the kids and we get some free time in the mall! I have been taking my son Sebastian here since he was 2! This place is very accommodating and does/will tend to your child's needs. I typically watch my son all throughout his session and the attention they give him is unbelievable. Its as if he has his very own private art teacher. Don't be fooled by the photos they post or the art on the wall, this place loves taking your money and little to show for it. Our son spent 60 mins and walked away with an arc chest, and a head of a figure my son was dying to draw. There's a great salesperson there naked Jenny. Be careful with her. She will work her magic showing you all of the cool mediums you can use (crayons, water paint, etc). She will go to great lengths to convince you. She did to us. However, afterward, I asked about the process and she told us "he was in good hands with one of their best teachers" and once we saw what was being drawn, she asked if we wanted more time to finish and was all of a sudden nonchalant towards us and was very rude. She flipped a switch but rather than create a scene for our son, we decided to not make the wasted time a big deal. The one thing she didn't tell us is that one teacher isn't with the child at all times. They say a few words to give direction and walk away. They rotate teachers as well. Our son told us he waited more time than any actual time learning anything. Bottom line: on the surface the place seems cool, maybe for a bday party, but for 1:1 time, not worth it. Ive enjoyed taking my kids here for the past few years, and more importantly they have loved it as well. This past weekend they wanted to go to the 'paint store' so we pop in for a 30 min session. I always enjoy working with my kids on their projects, however this time they let me know they want to make a surprise for me so i should wait outside. 8 minutes go by before they even have a piece of paper in front of them. another 4 minutes go by before a teacher stops by to let them know to write their name on the paper. they are now 12 minutes in and as of yet no-one has begun the 'session' in my eyes, but im not worried, im sure they'll be mindful that they are busy and didnt have time to start on time with my kids. after 17 minutes i see the lack of attention they are getting isnt going to change so i take up a seat with them and start helping them with the limited colors that they have been given to work with. Every now and then an employee would stop by and tell them to draw a line here or there, and then go wander of to deal with the other abandoned kids waiting for help. 25 minutes elapse and both kids are halfway through their work and an employee comes by and says "would you like to pay to extend your session?" No, no i dont want to pay for you to leave my kids sit here by themselves when they came here for a 'lesson'. Its a lot cheaper and more enjoyable for us to color at home. Oh, they are also offering a limited time sale with some discounts and other stuff, they were really pushing that like i'd be interested. i didnt pay attention, they had already lost my business when the employees choose to ignore the clock when its our time, but be Johnny on the spot when its their time. this should be a 1 star review, but maybe i just got them on a bad day. All our previous experiences have ben more enjoyable, but ive been sitting there for those other sessions so who knows. read more
