Get this!!! 3 days after the "estimated due date" I get a call from Michael's telling me my 2 pictures are ready for pick up. I get to Michael's at 10am only to find the custom framed pictures are framed in a custom frame that is too big for the pictures. The rude snotty lady mis-measured the pictures and now there is a huge seem around the picture that is very apparent when you look at it. How I ask, did they think I would be OK with this? Seriously, $300 is huge these days and to get a framed picture that looks like crap??? All of a sudden, when I asked to talk to a manager, she was not in the store, but would call me. The sales associate told me the store has a new return policy that would mean I would have to pay for the frame but they would refund the glass, mounting and hooks - are you serious, I have to pay $67 each for there mistake??? I'm so mad! I stopped by this place to buy a Gypsy for a friend. It was on sale and it was a really good deal. They sold me a box that was a return. I didn't know because I wasn't looking carefully. So when I gave it to my friend, she said that it was missing the user manual and the stylus. I don't remember where the receipt is, so we can't return it. They should really not resell electronics, especially with small parts. If they do sell it back, they should check to see if all components are there. So if you buy from them, check products carefully before you buy..... now I'm down $50 bux.... :/ read more

I like the store just fine, but I have a BIG problem with any store that advertises never-ending "sales". I'm talking about the constant "50% off sale" they have on custom framing. Legally, a sale cannot be considered a sale if this particular merchandise never goes OFF sale. Custom framing has never, ever been offered at full price since this store opened. read more

I go back and forth about Michaels. The one I visit is in San Rafael. I never hardly see the same associates. When I ask a question it seems I get the one that is "not sure about that". They are I would say 8 times out of 10 very nice and happy. I just do not seem to get associates who are excited about projects. Which you would think would be the number one priority in finding employees. It is not to say I have never been helped. There was one associate who was willing to go out of her way to try and find a specific yarn for me. Of course it was a yarn that was a BIG ad itemand it had not even been put on thd floor, anyhow. There is some great products. Many of which I find online for cheaper which makes it difficult to want go to Michaels, except for... CLEARANCE! They do put items on sale for a great price and they have gotten VERY good about clearing out lines quickly. As soon as one begins to form associates are called for back up. And that is just AWESOME! read more

I was checking out and was never greeted by the cashier. The phone rang and she took the call while I was waiting to see how much I owed. I asked her how much was my purchase and she points to the screen. I can't tell you how much I detest cashiers taking calls and not putting the call on hold so she can just finishes up my transaction.Very poor customer service read more

Manager followed us around the store this morning! We are visiting from Los Angeles and came to the area to do some early morning shopping. One star is too much and it's only there because they won't let you not put any.. The cashiers are the biggest let down in this store.. No hello.. No thank you! And even when I said hello, didn't get a response and when I said thank you, not even an acknowledgment that I exist! Got pissed and told the cashier 'if you're having a bad day, don't come to work!' Still.. NOTHING.. Walked out and because I was so annoyed by the cashier I called the store and asked for the manager... After I was hung up on once, and another 10 minute hold, I got the manager.. Turns out I was talking to the biggest jerk of all.. No apology, nothing! All I got was 'that is my best cashier'.. Imagine her worst cashier then!!! Thank you Michaels but no thank you.. I go to Michaels for the framing. The staff that works in that departmental amazing. Always willing to help and give you many options. They answer all my questions and give great feed back. And best of all, great prices. Thanks staff in the framing department!! read more

I've been going to Michaels for variety of craft items since my daughter was little. She's now grown and getting married in two weeks. I needed to frame a customer poster she and her fiance had made which will welcome guests to their wedding venue. I was lucky to get Diane in customer framing to assist me. She not only guided me to the perfect size frame but because I was traveling to Santa Barbara for the event, carefully cleaned the glass/frame, inserted the print, touched up a couple of areas around the edges and then replaced the protective corners around the frame before wrapping it with craft paper. Diane gets a gold star from me for the best customer service I've had in a long time - she really made my day! read more

During the holiday season I dared to enter a craft store and as I expected the line was easily 30 people deep. What I did not expect was how quickly it moved. They had every cash stand open and even had a gentleman (in a Santa hat) moving down the line asking if everyone found what they needed or had any questions. The line took only 5 minutes! Not only did they have every register open they also had salespeople on the floor helping. Often times I find that a store has all registers open but that leaves them with nobody to help answer questions. I was able to quickly find a salesperson to answer a question and when they did they did not seem to feel rushed to get to the next person, which again can happen in a very busy time in a store. All in all the service was great from start to finish and clearly management knows how to staff during the holidays. I'm a regular customer and will continue to be even during the busy times.
