I honestly forgot that this particular Michael's was here! I usually go to the one in Cupertino or the other one in Sunnyvale. This particular one had these adorable picture frames for my classroom as well as these Valentines picture frames and I'll use those! I was so happy they had three boxes of each since since I have 14 children in my class I didn't have to take all of the frames and feel selfish for my classroom children. Lol. This particular is but there's a lot of people working and restocking and cleaning so everything looked very clean and organized. My co-teacher was having an issue with the coupon of 30% off working so she helped her out. They do not seem to have a regular cash register but only self check out chaos is. If you're a teacher, make sure you sign up for their teacher reward system you get great points and a good discount!! I will definitely be back! Plus there's a Marie calendars in this plaza! Great store with pretty much everything you would need. Came here to get a picture framed and Dawna was particularly helpful. She told me that custom framing wouldn't have the picture ready by the time we needed it, so she pointed out some other good options. In particular, she also highlighted the buy 1 get 2 sale (!). I actually didn't arrive at the store until about 20 minutes before closing. And in that time I was actually able to browse around a little, find some options, ask some questions, then ask some more questions, do a video call back home to confirm, check out, and still have some time to spare. I popped in here to kill some time while waiting for my kid to finish his beyblade event a few doors down. This is a large Michaels. I think the facilities are on the older side but they are well stocked. I got what I needed and paid without problems. So today three of us are up there checking ourselves out at different kiosks....then all of a sudden a voice from behind us "bye, have a nice day." This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I came in to return an air balloon inflator I purchased only two days ago because it didn't work for the smaller balloons I needed. Instead of helping me, the employee was extremely rude, refused to return my box, and even accused me of breaking the item -- a completely false and insulting claim. To make matters worse, he called his manager, who was just as unprofessional. She insisted that because I purchased the item at a different location, I had to take it back there to return it. I have never heard of such a policy, and no store I've ever dealt with has required returns to be made at the exact same location. I bought the item near my workplace and tried to return it near my home -- something that should be simple and reasonable. The way I was treated was unacceptable. Instead of supporting a customer with a legitimate concern, both the employee and manager chose to be dismissive, accusatory, and disrespectful. This experience has completely changed my view of this company, and I will not be returning to this store again. read more

First self check in I go to, scanner is broken. So I walk up to an employee thinking he would take the transaction. He walks away and this self check in, the scanner works but the pay doesn't. I always go to the Michaels in Cupertino but I was in the area and wanted to check out to see if this place is any different from the Cupertino location. It is larger, this used to be a Walgreens previously. As with the other store, there was no one is sight to ask questions but there was an associate at the check out who was very helpful. I could not download the July coupon and she helped me with it and after years of shopping here, I finally decided to become a member, which she also helped me with. In general, the prices seem very high across all stores so it was great that I was able to find and use a 20% off coupon. Several years back, they changed the fondant to a different brand and not only is it very expensive, $20 for a tub, but it was not very pliable and hard to work with. With the closure of a lot of baking supply stores and not wanting to shop online, this seems an only option but they should change their products. It's best to get things while they are on clearance ad something always is! read more

This was my first time at this location. I needed a particular item and they had enough picture frames for my class. This is a bit further than the other location, but they had plenty in stock. The layout of the store is a bit different, it took me awhile to locate the items I needed. It's clean and well stocked. I enjoy using the self checkout line. The employees are nice , but I am able to get what I need and check out quicker. read more

I took a print to Michael's in Sunnyvale because my favorite art framer SF Framing had recently closed and I needed help. The nice person under the Aaron Brothers logo and several others (who had been stocking the shelves nearby) made suggestions that were not to my taste, but even the much simpler configuration we finally agreed upon was still startlingly expensive. Instead of showing me why the print needed special treatment the art framer recommended a less expensive mounting method that ultimately highlighted the irregularities of the placement of the images in the print. After picking it up later and pointing out that the print was mounted slightly crooked and off center I was told by a different person under the Aaron Brothers logo that according to the agreement that's what was I wanted and that they themselves didn't do the work and that they couldn't help me. A week later I bought a ready-made frame at Michael's in Mountain View for half the price of the previous custom frame fiasco, reframed the print myself, and it looks great. If you have an important piece of art do yourself a favor and use a real art framer, not like the one I encountered at Michael's. Otherwise buy a decent frame and just DIY it. read more

I visited this location on a Thursday evening around 7pm. It wasn't busy that evening. There was one cashier and a few people waiting in mins to make a purchase, including me. There was an Indian customer with a young child who was seeking for help with "foam tap". The cashier kept telling that Indian customer she was having a hard time understanding her despite people in line was translating for the cashier what she wanted help with. Eventually, the Indian customer just said she needed help a couple of times. The cashier then paged another associate to help the Indian customer to locate what she needed. The cashier was very friendly to me but I didn't feel good when I walked out of the store. read more

Michael's, do better. I drove down today to purchase a Cricut Maker 3 and some other random supplies. Mind you, I'm a frequent customer & adore all things crafting... so it pains me to write this review. Hopefully someone overseeing this division reads it and realizes a personnel change needs to occur. Bought my Cricut maker 3 and was so excited to start using it! Got home and to my surprise, the box had everything EXCEPT THE CRICUT MACHINE!!!!! I had a mini freak out thinking the store wouldn't believe me that the box was empty.... I called and the lady (younger female I met later) was extremely nice. She explained that she believed me and thought that someone would be calling because she noticed the DISPLAY box was missing. She told me to come right in & they would make it right. Mind you, the display box has the sensor tags and an extra security lock on it, so everything looked real and legit. When I got there, she was super nice and remembered me. I wish I got her name, but she was very apologetic that I had to drive all the way back for another cashier's mistake. She called her manager, Tiffany over and this is when it went sideways. When Tiffany (supposedly the Manager on duty) came, she wheeled over the real Cricut Maker 3 and acted as if I was bothering her!! She didn't even apologize for her employee's mistake, the inconvenience for me or that I wasted time driving all the way back!! She even made a joke basically blaming me saying, "well I don't know how you didn't realize nothing is inside since the box was so light". SKRRRRRT. HOW WOULD I KNOW?!?! I have the Cricut Joy (which is super lightweight), so I assumed the new Cricut3 was an updated lightweight design too. Tiffany - how dare you say that I should have realized that I was taking home the display?!? I then proceeded to ask for a discount on a roll of $8 vinyl for the inconvenience and wasting my time AND TIFFANY EXCLAIMED THAT IS NOT SOMETHING POSSIBLE. Um, I just spent 1 hour driving back & forth, wasting my time because of a stupid mistake of one of your employees. The VERY LEAST she could have done is pulled out a stupid generic 20% coupon from the drawer or something. It's not about the money. It's the audacity of this "manager" to provide me with zero customer service. She was not sympathetic, understanding or accommodating. I literally just spent $500 and she wasn't even willing to give me a good will gesture to discount a stupid roll of vinyl. Anyways, I hope Michael's Corp reads this. I had 3 reward vouchers that expire soon, and forgot to use them the day before when purchasing at Michaels. I went to the store to return two purchases and re-purchase using the vouchers. Needlessly complicated process to refund and re-purchase. The cashier helping me with the entire process was great (this review isn't for you), the managers the cashier sought assistance from kept walking away mid-process, and each time the cashier needed an approval or assistance she again had to call them to return. My advice to the managers would be to just be a little more patient and stand there until the transaction is done - you're saving everyone some time and frustration (including yourself to keep having to walk back and forth). I also don't understand why the manager would leave other customers waiting while the one lone cashier was assisting me - there are 3 digital kiosks and periodically people needed help with their transactions. It took about 30 minutes to complete the entire process (that's a long time - if I could stick a red flag emoji in here I would!!). One of my vouchers just didn't work either, although it's valid thru the end of August, and I haven't used it yet. read more

Longtime customer of Michael's and Aaron Brothers. I am an art student, and buy a lot of fine art supplies in this and the Cupertino stores. They often have what I need in stock. If they are not as well staffed as you'd like, well, just think what it's like to memorize thousands of pieces of stock and keep customers happy in a huge store, all while communicating with all other staff on a headset. I am respectful of the work they do, and it's so much better than other "big box," stores, like hardware. I've had several larger works of art framed over the years. Recently I had two particularly large pieces of original art framed. They are "monoprints" created by a neighbor who was like family since I was a child. After a quote at the Sunnyvale store, I compared prices at two private frame shops: downtown Willow Glen (higher) and Campbell (comparable). I returned to Michael's and reduced the price by choosing a less expensive frame. The work came to nearly $1000 for two large, double-matted, floating framed pieces. Staff were patient and helpful. I wasn't rushed. Sarah and Marcela in framing, and Sabrina (customer service manager for the entire store) helped me decide the specific details of these 3-feet by 4-feet (framed size) works of art. Sabrina stepped in when the framing staff were busy, and I was glad for her input and willingness to assist. There were a few glitches along the way, which they handled with grace and professionalism. In my 60+ years, I find that, often, if you treat people the way you want to be treated, you get good results. I continue to shop there, and I am glad to see the women who helped me create these lasting pieces of framed work that grace the walls of my home. read more

I needed to complete a work project in a timely manner and Michaels had a variety of stamp making materials, wires, glues, ink pads and wooden handles to choose from. Completed the work task and co-worker thought that I placed a work order from a ink marking vendor. This Michaels is very well staffed.. I was in a rush to grab some earring backings. As I enter the store and employee was finishing up with another customer and I quickly asked her a question to which she responded with a specific aisle number and pointing. Sure enough I found what I was looking for. Now I wanted to get my coupon because I can't pass up a discount. I couldn't get the app to work on my phone. There was another employee standing there who assisted me in getting the app up and running and getting to the coupon. Young man at checkout was so polite and helpful. Was shopping for elastics and fabric swatches and went to the counter to check out. There were two cashiers and one of them was not wearing any mask, and she was visibly sick. As I went up to the counter, she WIPED HER NOSE ON HER WRIST before trying to reach for what I wanted to check out, and then turned to SNEEZE MULTIPLE TIMES, then excused herself to the restroom. I did not feel safe checking out. I hope she gets better, but if employees are sick they should be able to stay home. If they are visibly sick with running noses they should not feel pressured to work in an ongoing pandemic. Multiple people within the shop were also sick or sniffling. There was an unmasked child who was openly coughing in one of the aisles too. A terribly unsafe place to shop. read more

Mike and Alondra were fantastic when I came in yesterday with a return. Alondra wanted to help me but was not sure how to so she got Mike. I purchased a 10 Drawer Rolling Cart by Simply Tidy and one of the drawers was damaged however I did not notice until I was installing the last drawer. I decided to take just the drawer to Michaels and talked with Alondra about just replacing the one drawer. She checked with Mike and he let me exchange the drawer. I can't believe how accomadating and professional Mike was. I always liked going to Michaels and this just proves his professionalism will keep me coming back. read more

The staff here are super knowledgeable and help you find what you're looking for in seconds. My new painting class will start soon and I know where to shop for materials. This location also offers some interesting classes like working with resin, knitting and crocheting, wood burning, ribbon bow making and more. I took a wood burning class with Janea. One of the most fun classes I have ever attended. This was an experience to have and I learned a lot, but most of all her amazing ideas helped take my art project to the next level. I ended up making a Christmas ornament for my kiddo and create a design on a picture frame for a loved one. I would definitely recommend this location and giving the classes a chance as they both offer so much. You will learn a lot, have fun and make friends. I don't often go to Michaels and today realized why. I went in hoping to have a 16"X20" oil painting framed as a gift for my son (his mom painted it). I went to the framing area and waited about 15 min for someone to show up and then hit the button for service. 10 mins later, a woman emerged from the back room where framing materials are kept... she said she had to do something at the front counter and would be right back. She was apparently the "framing person" and was in the room the entire time. I must have worn my invisibility suit today... 30 min later after no contact from anyone, within a few minutes 2 other employees passed by asking if I needed help. I said yes. They both just walked away as thought I didn't exist. Amazing. I felt like I stepped into the Twilight Zone. Zombies would have been refreshing at this point. It was clear they didn't want my business so after 40 min of no help I decided to leave. As I was walking out the door there were 3 women at the front counter and not a customer in sight. As I walked out, one woman said "sir, she'll be right with you", to which I replied, "I'll come back when you're not slammed". I would say these people are incompetent, but they don't rise to that level. I was perhaps 1 of 5 customers in this huge store, and no one had time to help me. They just didn't seem to care. I've encountered some businesses who have no concept of what customer service means, but these folks take the prize as the worst place to shop I've seen in 30 years. I had a retail store once and hung a sign on my wall that said, "Of all the people who will never enter my store again, 10% will move away, 6% will prefer someone else's products, and 84% will never come back because I didn't say hello to them in the first 30 seconds. I come in to pick up an order and I'm standing near the front because I was deciding if I needed another bottle of what I had order for picked up, next thing you know the employee her name is Janaya very rudely asks me "can I help you with something before I have 10 million other things to do" now im looking at her confused because i never asked for her help I was standing there minding my own business and she rudely tells me that, I then tell her no I never asked for your help I was in the middle of debating something and she says oh my bad and walks away and I was just standing there in shock because I had just walked in and she was already in a bad mood yelling at customers in the line. I then go up to her to ask for her name and she sighs and walks away while saying her name is janaya, not sure if that is even how you spell it or what position she works but her attitude was distasteful, very disappointing especially because I used to work at this location when I was in high school. I came here with the intentions to purchase more items after I return some things that I bought. I realized I didn't need these items/they just didn't work well with the decor I had. After the experience I had with Lorianne, I decided it wasn't worth spending anything there. I approached the register letting the associate know ahead of time I had the return and handed her the receipt. Tell me why, this lady had the audacity to let out a huge sigh as if it was too much for her to process the return. I'm sorry Lorianne (if that's how it's spelled). Sorry, that I had you do a part of your job description but clearly you couldn't provide customer service. She never talked to me but indirectly. Once she handed me my receipt she said absolutely nothing until I told her to have a nice day.
