MadeBy has quickly become one of my daughter's favorite places. She's 10 and very into arts, crafts, and hands-on projects, so this studio is right up her alley. We first checked it out during the grand opening and were impressed by how open, bright, and thoughtfully set up the space was. It feels much more spacious and creative than other DIY spots we've visited. We've since gone back for camps and casual weekend visits, and she always finds something new she wants to make. The custom comic book and stuffie stations are especially fun and unique. The staff has also been consistently kind, patient, and helpful every time we've been there. Had a really frustrating experience here. My kids designed water bottles; which took about less than 10 minutes on Canva. You can only pick images that are outlines so it just doesn't take long to do. Morever, the template they use only covers a part of the water bottle, like 1/4 of it. It doesn't go all the way around or even halfway around. I was told it would take 30 minutes to engrave so we walked around, and I KEPT getting texts that it would take an additional 30 minutes. Ultimately we waited about 140 minutes for a project that had hands on time of about 10 minutes. Yes, almost 2.5 hours of waiting; which might have been fine with me if I knew ahead of time to come back another day, but again, they kept just adding on time. Also when we finally received our product I was peeved that we could barely see my son's engraving. See picture - why is it a dark gray/brass engraving over a dark blue bottle? I could at least be warned to pick a lighter color bottle. Why even offer the darker water bottles if the engraving can only be dark gray? *head exploding* I was really frustrated with 1. this not really being much of a "craft"; 2. the lack of communication up front about timing since we had plans that we ended up being late for and 3. that we could barely see the final product we waited so long for. read more

MadeBy Studios is such a special place! I brought six girls ages 10-13 and they had an incredible experience. We ended up staying for hours because they didn't want to leave. There's a great range of activities, from simple and fun projects like patches for backpacks or bracelets with charms, to more personalized creations like designing your own stuffed animals. One of the most unique offerings was the ability to create AI-generated coloring books where the kids can become the main characters in their own story, which was such a fun and creative idea. I'm sure adults would enjoy MadeBy just as much as my pre-teens, there are so many cool activities to choose from. The staff was attentive, patient, and encouraging, which made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. It's a perfect spot for anyone who loves crafts, creativity, and hands-on activities. I love the concept of this place, and I love that it's woman owned and there's a strong women presence in the staff. I recruited 4 of my closest friends and we were ready to bring our sneaker designs to life. So I give the sneaker activity a 4/5 from an adult perspective. It wasn't what I expected. We had ideas in what we wanted to make, but the customization is very limiting. I expected: - The shoes already being there, and getting to put the designs on myself. In reality, the shoes weren't there and they heat press your designs for you at a later time - more freedom on design like coloring in other sections of the shoe or adding design to the shoelaces. You only get at most 5 places to add design to, per side and per shoe. And everything is done on Canva - to leave with my shoes. You wait a few more days to pick up the final product. On the Square website, yes I was aware of the sentence that said shoes are picked up the following week. But i thought that was merchandise before we start design So I interpreted it as, book the appointment at least a week ahead for the shoes to be there in the store. (I booked over a month in advance) So to reiterate, this place is definitely 5/5. I'd come by for the other activities. As for the sneaker activity, skip it if adult only. read more

What an incredible craft studio! I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to celebrate something fun like a birthday. I went here to celebrate an anniversary. We made each other custom plushies and they let us stuff them with handwritten notes and pictures we'd written for each other. The materials and machines were all decent quality. The process was slightly difficult, but the staff was extremely helpful! They even include one free accessory for you to add on to the plushie, and each accessory afterward costs $5 each. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice. Couldn't thank them enough for their talent! Our plushies wouldn't have turned out as well without them. They had the wonderful idea of helping me turn a long eared bunny into a Miffy. This was definitely a memorable experience and I would recommend it if you don't mind the slightly steep price point ($130 for two plushies). Note: I originally thought about doing their custom DIY shoe designs where you can print out and iron on any design you want, but they didn't have any wide sizes available and the specific models of shoes themselves aren't very comfortable. I wish they would let us bring in our own shoes for DIY. read more

We just hosted my son's 7th birthday party at MadeBy and I'm honestly blown away by how smooth and fun the entire experience was. Planning kids' parties can be stressful, but this was the opposite. From the start, the team made everything feel easy and well thought out. They welcomed the kids in, got them excited, and immediately had their attention (which is saying a lot for a group of 7-year-olds!). The activity itself--designing custom snapback hats with their names--was such a hit. The staff did an amazing job guiding each child without taking over, letting them be creative while still helping them end up with something they were proud of. Every kid left with a hat they were genuinely excited to wear, and it felt way more meaningful than the usual party favors. Huge bonus: they let us bring in our own food, which made things super convenient. And best of all, they handled the cleanup completely. We were able to just enjoy the party and walk out without worrying about the aftermath, which is pretty rare. If you're looking for a unique, hands-on birthday party that keeps kids engaged and gives them something they'll actually use afterward, this place is fantastic. This is a perfect place to bring your kids for fun activity that won't stress out their parents. My five-year-old was able to design her own customized Paw Patrol hat (with some help from Mommy and the staff). It might be a little too difficult for young kids to use Canva on the computers on their own, but my daughter enjoyed working on it together. The hat design was ironed on in less than 15 minutes, and so far the design has held up well. It's in a really large, open space in downtown Mountain View. I could see it being perfect for a kids birthday party in the future. We stopped by after having lunch down the street, so it's a great location for family day out. read more

I first discovered MadeBy through a team-building event my company hosted there and it ended up being one of the most unexpectedly fun experiences I've had with coworkers. The space itself is beautiful, modern, creative, and just a really cool environment that inspires you to want to make something. They have a ton of fun projects for people of all ages. I designed my own cross body bag using their patch bar, while some of my coworkers customized lunch bags. Everyone really got into it and it turned into a great way to connect outside of the usual work setting. Overall, it was such a fun and low-pressure way to be creative and enjoy time with my colleagues. 5 stars because the staff here ( Ashley and Winny) are so amazing!!! My partner and I signed up to do tote bag making - first off they were very flexible with letting us use our credits for other activities even though we ended up going with the tote bags. Secondly I took over 3 hours and had a complicated design and the staff girlies were so patient! They never rushed me off a desktop, they were diligent in making sure my designs would print out properly and even offered to print parts of it again if it came out improperly and they were so careful in ironing my design to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. I also wanted to add my name to my tote bag at the end but the letter patches didn't have all the letters of my name so I asked if I could print my name out and pay extra and they let me just print it out for free! So kind!!! Lots of selection of activities in the store - most of them felt targeted to a younger demographic but there is a charms bar w a decent selection, night light, water bottles engraving, custom sneaker, custom stuffed animal, custom stickers, custom framed art and custom patches. Price for the tote bag was 30 dollars which is def felt was high to start with but for the fun and quality of the finished project I think it was totally worth it! I do think for younger kids the value might vary since you def can speed through these activities. TLDR had fun and loved the staff and loved the result! read more

Went to the Grand opening and it was pretty chaotic. The kids saw a bunch of other kids sit at a table and started working on a stuffed animal craft. My daughter thought it was free as part of grand opening. I asked to double check and it wasn't free but by that time my daughter had already almost completed her animal and wanted to pay for it. $60! I felt a little tricked. After I bought it, I realized there was an extra $4 charge for an accessory they never told my daughter about it before adding it. I'm pretty upset at the lack of price transparency. read more

What a great place to get your creative juices to work! My wife and I came here and got to choose from many different choices to make an item and customize it. We decided to make some keychains for our kids with there names on it! The facility is really nice! I love the decor and set up of the place! Very cool spot located in downtown Mountain View. We've had three visits now to MadeBy! My 11yo did a day camp on President's Day and she loved the comic book design the most. Then my 40 person team came for a team fun event and it was a nice change of scenery for these events. The badge bar was a hit. Now I'm here with my two kids and we made lunch totes at the patch bar. I was in downtown Mountain View and stopped by this store during their grand opening with my wife. You can create and customize a variety of stuff like stickers, hats, water bottles, etc. The staff and workers were really helpful and friendly as they guided us through the process on how to create and then print out what we wanted. We used the computer to airdrop a picture, and then generated cartoon images with ChatGPT to print out as stickers! It was a pretty seamless process and the stickers turned out really cool! My daughter went to MadeBy and has the best experience. I think what sets this camp apart from others are the projects they've carefully crafted together. They're the type of projects that speaks to what my daughter and girls similar in age to her love and are truly interested in. They made comic books, stuffies, fanny packs and so much more. I was amazed by all the cute projects she would come home with. And what was even more amazing was how excited she was every day to the camp and excited to see what she would be making next. Also, the things they made she actually uses. On top of all this, it was also extremely affordable and I couldn't believe how much she was able to do. We will definitely be coming back!!
