My review is about something very upsetting that happened to me yesterday February 21th at Michael's at Thornton ! I usually go to the Michael's at 104th and this was my first time there! Well, I decided to frame a small piece of art that my husband gave me for my 76th birthday and there was another couple placing an order to framed a post and by mistake I put it on top of the desk and covered a little bit of the margin of the man's post...and the man turned his face at me and I was so naive that I thought he was going to ask me something about my fish art but no...he got very aggressive and screamed very loud at me saying ...get your fuck...g piece of my f...ing post and many other things that I can't and don't want to remember! I was in so shocked and scared! OMG...is this the country we live in now, where there are NO limits for anything and everyone can say and do what they want ??? No respect, no empathy....?? I've never felt so mistreated and disrespected! The girl in charge of placing the orders apologized to me but it wasn't her fault ...! What a sad experience!! read more

I acquired this old tire, and decided to make an outdoor ottoman with it! I bought a few large rolls of this thick twine, as well as a large wooden circle to put on top of the tire, and I loved how my project turned out! I certainly couldn't have done it without the supplies from here! read more

I had a really nice experience here! First of all, all of the Fall/Halloween items are out and it lifted my spirits! This store was super clean, well stocked, and had tons of sale items available! The spring/summer collections were 70% off and the Fall 40% off! The line to check out moved quickly and the cashier that assisted me was so pleasant! **NO CURBSIDE PICKUP HERE!!! I ordered curbside pickup of a craft item a few days ago and paid online. When I went to pick it up, there was a loooooong line for the registers inside (a dozen or more) and I was informed that they didn't have time to wait on me and that I would need to get in line and wait my turn. I had the worse experience EVER at this store. I tried to exchange some iron on vinyl that I had purchased and accidentally selected the wrong color. I went back with my receipt and tried to exchange for the same item-different color. The cashier "Ruth" told me with a very matter of fact voice that she can only refund, then purchase the new ones. I said ok, but I had a $5 reward that I used and wanted to see if it would apply to the new purchase. She became very irritated and started slamming items around and breathing hard. I told her it's really not a big deal to be getting that upset over and she asked if I wanted to talk to someone else. I said sure get me the manager because you are being very rude. She called for the manager (who took forever to come). She continued slamming things around and when I mentioned it she threw the rolls of vinyl as hard as she could onto the counter and they went flying everywhere, knocking down the bottle of hand sanitizer that was on the counter and almost hitting my 9 year-old daughter. I became very upset that she almost hit my daughter and she then came around the counter and got in my face and said "you think you're so much better than me, F*** you!" Again all in front of my daughter. The manager FINALLY came and took over and applied my $5 reward to my new purchase. He barely apologized and did nothing to make me feel like this situation would be taken care of. What type of customer service rep reacts like that over questions about a $5 reward? I will continue shopping at Hobby Lobby at least I feel safe there. read more

Wife bought a bunch of plastic organizers to use for lego pieces for our son from the westminster michaels store. One turned out to be cracked. She wanted me to take it back the next day, and I came to this store because it was a little closer to our house. I had the receipt showing we bought five organizers the preceding day. I told the clerk that it was purchased in another store. Clerk went off to "investigate" for 10 minutes, came back with a different organizer, said they don't stock anything like what I have (pointing and listing off all the differences exhaustively) and then wrapped up by saying "I don't think your wife bought it at Michaels". Like I'm trying to defraud them of $5 by having my wife purchase $25 worth of overpriced crap, then the following day I dug out a random piece of broken tupperware from a garage sale or something and tried to get a refund on it? I couldn't believe she took all that time to construct some sort of evidence chain to publicly accuse me of lying over a $5 return. I blew up, took my busted organizer, went to westminster, got the exchange done with no hassle. They still had more of the same in stock, I guess Michaels does still sell them one day later! I would leave 0 stars if i could. They knowingly put my girlfriend and her service animal in danger. Initially, my girlfriend and i saw a chihuahua in a shopping cart with no indication of service work and it was barking, so we walked away. we went to a different isle. my girlfriend got anxious, but the chihuahua was still barking so harlow, my girlfriends service dog, was focused on protecting her moms from the seemingly dangerous dog. so, i got fed up. i walked to go find the woman to respectfully explain to her why i didnt think she should be in the store, but she was ignoring me and very dismissive, so i went to go check on my girlfriend because again this dog is removing her SERVICE dogs ability to alert and work properly, then i immediately walked to a manager. i think her name was Robin, but i was more focused on the safety of my girlfriend and her lifeline. She has dark brown curly hair thats shoulder length. i spoke to the manager and thought i was going somewhere until she said "we can work something out you can shop first or she can shop first" and then proceeded to send me and my girlfriend to the other side of the store, her dog knew the other dog was still in the store and still couldn't correctly do its job. as i was walking out the door with my girlfriend right behind me, the manager said "i was just coming to find you" i stopped for a minute, i was trying to process the situation and see if i should stay, i decided to stay and hear her out UNTIL i saw the woman with the pet who has lunged at at least 5 ppl now, walking back into the store. i then proceeded to say "no its fine we're leaving" and she said "okay" and let us walk out the door. youve lost a customer forever. read more

This Michaels has barely any product. The last few times I have gone there they have been out of multiple things and barely any staff on hand to help you. If you want any fabric to do sewing projects you will not find it here. I have tried calling and instead of getting a store clerk it hangs up on you automatically. I will never go to this Michael's again even if that means I have to drive 10 or 15 minutes further to get to another one. read more

We bought poster at our son's first concert and decided to splurge and get it framed. My husband initially chose a mat size that I wasn't happy with, but didn't realize it until we picked up the finished frame. Their framing manager Melissa went above and beyond and resized it for us, and was super helpful and understanding through the whole process. Michael's is in a nice location right next to the Target on 120th and Washington in Thornton. They have many arts and crafts, and for this trip I needed a part for a silver sterling necklace I have . They do carry some clasps and rings for jewelry that are sterling and reasonably priced. While I was in there, I picked up a couple other things. I just love this craft store. They also have a 40 percent off coupon in the newspaper on one regularly priced item from time to time. read more

First off...wow. It's a miracle this particular store is still in business. Generally, I really like Michael's - they have different merchandise from other hobby stores so that, between all of the hobby stores, I can typically find what I want. That being said, I have repeatedly had less-than-satisfactory experiences at this location. Today was the third time I've been in, attempting to take advantage of a frame sale (the rules of which are often unclear). This sale, however, was specifically for the float frames - just what I wanted. This is the third time that, during a sale which included float frames, I have looked at all the float frames only to find every single one missing chunks out of the wood. Their frames are always in poor condition, every time I go in. But that's not even the worst of it.The float frames I want are only available in stores. Michael's absolutely will not do rain checks, because their "frames are almost always on sale and the sales are always changing." So no help there. Then I asked if there was any way to find out when they get new frames in, but apparently they only get new ones in when they register that the old ones have been sold. The customer rep told me she would go back and look and alert the framer, who would mark the bad ones as defective so that they would get new ones, but she had no clue when the new ones would come in, and she couldn't write my info down to alert me. I get that they can't take down every customer's number to alert them of things, but it was just the absolute lack of ability of the employees to do ANYTHING at all for me that really got me. The only thing I did achieve was to alert them that their product stock is bad. Oh, well. Guess I did my good deed for the day. Haven't yet decided if I'll ever be going back to Michael's. Which sucks because they're the only company that carries the frames I want at a reasonable price (that includes Amazon). read more

Out of the last 7 times I've shopped there 5 times they didn't have what I was looking for in stock. That's not the worst part, they have been sanctimonious and frankly rude. I would have to say that yesterday was one of the worse customer service experiences I've had any where!!! I was looking for letters to spell my daughter's name on her bedroom wall. They had no As or Ls so I asked if they had any in the back and the clerk looked at me , wrinkled her nose and said " I don't know" and proceeded to talk to a coworker. She turned her back to me. Unbelievable. I felt like crying and just leaving the store but I decided to stay and talk to someone else. Just as bad. She was rolling her eyes, snappy, just very rude. In the check out line, another woman was checking out and I heard her say to the cashier, "I really don't appreciate your rudeness." I thought , you go girl. Horrible experience. read more

I went into this store with some star wars prints I wanted to get framed. Kelli helped me and I had to tell her right at the start I've never framed anything so be gentle. After looking at the mattes and frames she guided me the way yoda taught Luke on how to be a Jedi. We came up with an amazing combo. The price was reasonable but I still had to get an OK from my wife, it was out of my allowance. of course my wife said no ( but I think she doesn't want the posters in the house anyways). Other than that Kelli was so helpful and kind, I'll go back there for any other arts and crafts stuff. read more

Went in to buy some frames buy one get one free. Stuff was not marked very well. Went to check out and it did not ring up right. Called the "manager " over and she attempted to correct the situation . 2 of the frames were not buy one get one. I understand that and then they ring me up . It still seemed high but I went ahead and paid. Looked at the receipt and I still overpaid. The manager comes back over again and does not see the issue. After wasting a half an hour of time I left the store with overpriced frames that I overpaid for. The "manager" refused to give me her supervisors contact information to have this matter properly conducted. Can not believe the low level of customer service here. read more

I haven't ever had a really bad (or really great) experience at this particular location. I go in, I can usually find just what I am looking for. This time I needed those dowels that you use to hold up stacked cakes and the girl had no clue what I was talking about, which I thought was odd because I am FAR from crafty and I know what they are... odd. I really like this location... Especially when they are having any of their end of the season sales! I was just there the other day and one of the promos I really liked was the 7 pic boxes for $10 .. Went in for some custom framing help a while ago during the weekend. It was busy, which I guess isn't a surprise, but the girls at the counter seemed frantic and one of them kept saying "my balls itch" and rubbing her eyes. Unfortunately this is not the 1st bad Michael's review I have had to write. It always boils down to horrible customer service with this company and I don't understand why. I went in last week for yarn....no problem, they always have the products that I am looking for..no problem there. I happened to pass by the clearance aisle. Big mistake on my part! They had all sorts of wonderful items on "clearance" to catch my eye and I started picking up products. The signs all said prices as marked, yet not one item was marked. This store has no price checker machine and I couldn't find a soul to help me. I proceeded to load my arms with a few items that I thought would be great gifts for Christmas and proceeded to the ever present Michael's check out line form HE**. After finally reaching the cashier I told her the only thing I really was buying for sure was the yarn and apologized for doing this but none of the items were priced. She rudely looked at me and said "well we ran out of stickers" , she scanned the 1st item and it came up @ 50 cents off original price, I told her I didn't want the item as that wasn't much of a sale, the next item rang up at full price and the cashier said "Oh these aren't on sale at all and should not have been in that aisle" I told her that there were lots more back there, she said "whatever". This continued until all of the items I had picked out were price checked, all in all only 2 things were actually on clearance...the rest were just there and most weren't even on sale. I normally would have never brought things to the cashier that I wasn't sure I wanted but when there is no one to assist you and you have no price check machine and nothing is priced how do you expect to do business? I wont be shopping there again. At this point I am basically done with this store and I don't mean just this location. read more

I called Michael's in Thornton to ask if they had a product I had seen 2 days prior in the store. The woman that answered the phone was: rude, non-accommodating, and put me on hold before I could finish describing the product. When she came back, she asked which store I had gone to because clearly it wasn't their store. I described the store to her in order to prove I was indeed at her location. Afterward, I asked to speak with the manager and low and behold I figured out why the employee acts the way she does. The manager was only slightly better than the employee. Not sure about all the bad reviews, I just moved and this is now my store and I was a bit worried, but all the staff was nice and helpful. We didn't wait to have a case unlocked and we got great after Thanksgiving deals! There seemed to be PLENTY of staff with every register open and people on the floor to help. read more

120th Thornton location: Did my daughter a solid by taking her to Micheals as she is extremely artistic and needed supplies. She got 3 items and the line was long...but not a big deal because it was Saturday. Finally got up to the front and was told by a manager who was stapling papers that she was ready for us. We approach her checkout only to wait forever while she slowly proceeds to staple her entire stack of papers...um, rude, ok. Then she further wastes our time by eavesdropping on a women customer's conversation next to us and "helping" her by casually and slowly suggesting other classes her daughter can take. I'd like to mention here that these were white ppl she was helping while totally ignoring me and my (not white) children. Also, many ppl in line behind us were quickly checked out and on their way before we even had one item through. She finally and ever so passive aggressively checked our 3 whole items while giving us the side eye because we didn't want to give an email address. Sure, this isn't the worst thing in the world, there are wars. But to see the difference in treatment just because of skin color shows the common micro-aggressions of white women who are in "customer service" but seem far more eager to help white people while "casually" making us wait an inordinate amount of time while she eventually "gets around" to accepting our $. Fuck her, fuck this store...it's Amazon from here on out. read more

I love this store, they have everything I need for my many, many projects. My boyfriend hates when we stop here because he knows I'm leaving with enough stuff to finish two projects and start three more. They have tons of great scrap booking stuff, the yarn selection is excellent, tons of varieties of sketch books and pens plus so much more! Aside for the crafting stuff they also have tons of beautiful decor and picture frames. The prices are also pretty great and if something seems priced a little high just wait a few days and it will definitely be on sale. Signing up for the emails for coupons is the only way to shop there. The only thing that drives me absolutely crazy about this location is the fact that I have never not stood in line for at least ten minutes. It doesn't matter what time of day, or how many people are in line ahead of you, you will be standing waiting in line for what feels like forever. Other than the extremely slow checkout experience it is a wonderful place to shop. read more
