All around stores catering to home hobbyists/crafters are not as easy to find as before, but Michael's still has a huge selection of items to browse first hand. Lots of holiday themed items, lots of general use goods applicable to numerous home projects. Store is well organized and kept up, and staff is friendly and available. Plenty of items on sale, worth cycling through to keep up with bargains. People who enjoy their hobbies will appreciate being able to actually look at items, as we've all been had by online "great deals" that failed the quality test. read more

First you got a all get educated people that work for you. I went to return quilting pins, and the lady upfront, who had an inappropriate conversation out loud with another customer about how crazy her neighbor was once I got up to the line she looked at me and tossed my items back to me and said I can't return these they're "ALL BENT UP".... I said to her yes ma'am, they sure are. They're quilting pins. Then she made another employee come finish my transaction because she said she could not work with us. She was the colored lady that worked on Sunday October 26th. Ask Mike about it.... Your other employee he witnessed the whole entire thing and then said he was so sorry for her inappropriate behavior. read more

Incident Report - Michael's Store Date of Visit: October 10, 2025 Location: 521 N Valley Mills Dr Waco, TX 76710 United States I visited Michael's on October 10th to shop for fabric. During my visit, I had an unpleasant interaction with one of the employees. The employee, a young Black African woman, was dismissive and rude when I asked questions about cutting my fabric. She appeared irritated by my questions and asked another young lady to assist me instead. The employee did not ask whether I had found everything I was looking for and seemed disengaged. I was left unsupervised for a while before another employee eventually assisted me. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and discourteous. I really like this place overall. It has an awesome supply of paint and canvas supplies. The canvases are sold individually or in multi-packs. The packs are sold with great prices. They are usually on sale. I recently checked out the yarn because I needed a certain color and they did not have what I needed. They have a decent selection of yarn but to me the prices are just a little more then I want to pay especially seeing that Wal-mart is cheaper. The store does seem to stay well stocked and decently tidy. The staff seem friendly and helpful. I will continue to make this my go to place when I need painting supplies. I am quite satisfied with this most of all. read more

Was in there yesterday and the cashier was a woman named Renata . First let me tell you I have been in retail for over 10 years and this was the WORST experience I have ever had. First of all she did not greet me nor did she ask if I found everything I needed. Very impersonal and not friendly at all . She lacks valuable customer service skills . My items were just thrown in my bag. After paying NEVER said thank you or have a good evening. I will personally be contacting the store manager .. This woman needs customer service training or she does NOT need to be working in retail where customer service and product knowledge is a must !!! This Michaels is yucky. I went inside to buy a tube of oil paint and I was kind of in a hurry--between appointments. Well, the paints were actually LOCKED up and no one could find the key. They weren't even high quality, expensive paints. Unfortunately, if you live in Waco, the only place to buy quality art supplies is 1 1/2 hours away. read more

This is one of my regular stops. Depending on what you're looking for, it may or may not be worth the gas, though. Scrapbooking supplies is pretty good, and they always have a lot of clearance mixed in there. Keep an eagle eye out! Sewing/knitting and the likes is lacking. They got the basics, but a bigger selection can be found at Hobby Lobby. Drawing/painting supplies are fairly good. Again, i think a bigger selection is at Hobby Lobby. As far as prices go, they are as expected. Art supplies is never cheap. They do have good sales going on most of the time, and are awesome with coupons. You can get a Michael's app, where you can get several coupons each week. They even accept competitor's coupons. The staff is a lot friendlier than Hobby Lobby, and they offer a lot of classes for adults and kids. read more

I went there to look for decorations for my home. First off all of the fake plant and garden stuff was weirdly priced. A potted plant that would be considered mini was the same price as a medium priced potted plant. There were some plants the were the same size and one of them would be priced $10 and the next would be $15. Secondly, which disgusted me, was there there were 2 roaches in the bathroom. Of the four stalls in the bathroom, one was locked and the other dirty. The only stalls open had roaches in them! I am terrified of roaches, so I walked right back out and had to spend my entire time shopping holding it. read more

not the best michaels. i went to get some bigger canvases and those are at the highest shelf in the back under the sign "ask for assistance." i walked all around the store trying to find someone to help, but i couldn't find anyone. then i went to the frame counter, pushed the button, waited for five minutes but no one came. the only employee i could find was working the register. and to top it off, every stall in the women's restroom was out of toilet paper. i love michaels but this was a little ridiculous. i will he going to hobby lobby next time. read more
