My most recent trip to Michael's definitely could've been better. The first associate was not helpful at all. Instead of showing me where the items I was looking for were located, she only pointed towards the area in the store where they should have been. She really gave off a vibe as if I was "bothering" her. When I saw a 2nd associate, I asked her for assistance. She used the handheld device to look up the specific item I was looking for and advised me it was out of stock in store. When I went to checkout, the 1st associate I spoke with was the cashier. Instead of putting my change in my hand like I did when I gave her the cash for my purchase, she placed it on the counter. read more

I've been to this location many times for various things and have never had an issue with availability as mentioned in other reviews. I get the emails with coupons and they always honor them and have even reminded me or told me about a coupon I didn't know about. I mostly go in for beads for bracelet making. There is a great selection of beads at various price points and frequent sales. I like the online purchase and pick up in store option; it's easy and my order is always correct. Specifically during the quarantine, I've been making a lot of bracelets and the curbside pick up is fantastic. You pull up to the store, call and someone answers (bravo) and comes out with my order and places in my trunk. The customer service is very friendly during a time when they might not want to be. Every once in awhile I do purchase their home decor items which I admit at first I thought had no place in a craft supply store. But when I have a 70% off one full price item coupon, I use it! I got floating shelves at 50% off once too. I like to support local as well, but sometimes the big store works too. read more

This location is always very clean and very organized. Stopped in today for some early Halloween decor and most items were on sale! If you are looking for crafting/wreath/holiday decor, I think this is a great option. The store isn't huge but we've sweats found what we needed. We were able to use an online Michaels coupon at checkout and scored some good deals. I have noticed the last few times I've been in this store, they seem to be severely understaffed. One employee at cash wrap and one employee on floor, seemed a bit light for a retail store that had a decent amount of customers shopping. Anyway, we'll continue to visit here when we need art/holiday supplies. read more

I went through a painting phase a couple weeks ago. I spent about 4-5 days painting non-stop. I was whipping portraits out like the Warhol factory. It was eat, sleep, paint, paint, paint, sleep. Anyway, I needed to go to Michael's for a shade of green I didn't have. I didn't feel like mixing paints for the green because I was filling in the background of a portrait and wanted a solid green-colored background with no other tints or discolored streaks creeping in and stealing the viewer's attention from the face of Lucien Carr- that is who I was painting. The Beat Generation had just as great an influence on America as jazz had in my opinion. When you hear "Beats", you think Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, Bob Dylan- and perhaps Gregory Corso and Neal Cassady if you've dipped your exploring toes in a little further than the average consumer of post-modernism-experimental-free-verse-neo-poetry. Little, however, have heard of Lucien Carr. Carr is the great maestro who brought it all together. He introduced Ginsberg to Kerouac and Burroughs- in effect, rolling a tiny snowball into the great icy tumble we now know as the Beat Movement. Unfortunately, Lucien Carr missed out on his well-deserved fame and glory by stabbing his friend and going to prison right before the eruption of literary recognition of his newly found group. It's okay though. He lives in my heart and on my canvases. When my portrait was complete, my mom asked who I'd painted. I said, "just a random dude I saw on the internet" because I didn't want her to think I was a nerd. I just leaned the painting up against the wall next to tv and admired how the light green hues I added to his face paired well with the hunter-green behind him- Lucien placed on a solid colored background with no other tints or discolored streaks creeping in and stealing the viewer's attention from the brains behind the Beat movement. read more

I love Michael's! It's hard for me to go in this store and not spend money. I find something I love every time I drop in. This is also my go-to place for ANYTHING crafty. I've never had trouble finding anything here. Staff the is usually pretty helpful. I haven't tried any classes yet... but I'd love to! read more

Best Customer Care! It's so refreshing to shop at Wake Forest Michaels where personnel are so helpful and courteous! I love shopping there for all my craft needs! There is another Michaels store in the area that employs very unfriendly and lazy personnel. I will never visit that location again!! read more

What a waste of time, money, and space to build a Michael's in wake forest! I was so excited when I found out a Michael's was being built in WF. However, every time I've been in there looking for something specific, they haven't had it. Today, specifically, I went in looking for one of those black letter boards. That item is only one of the most popular items currently being used by teachers, decorators, instagrammers , and crafters. When I asked where I could find one, the response was "doesn't sound familiar." Excuse me?! Who are these people Michael's is hiring?! I know I've seen this item in a Michael's store before and you can find them on their website but the WF location either doesn't carry them or doesn't hire people competent enough to know anything about the items in the store where they're working. So I put down the frame I was going to buy and I'll be buying my Letterboard and frame from Amazon. THIS is why brick and mortar stores are closing left and right. read more

Wow, just went to this store tonight (grand opening) and to be candid, this is the most pathetic stock of any Michaels store. Yes, it is clean, but many items are not priced and you have to ask the employees to check, much of the shelves are empty or near empty (and were likely never filled). It's almost like they opened up with only 1/2 of what a normal store carries. I'll drive an extra 5-10 mins down capital to get to the other Michaels store. Most of the staff was standing around talking, but can't fault them as there didn't seem to be much to do. It was just a really weird feeling walking around. Plus the grand opening coupons had so many exceptions it really isn't worth even using. Pretty sad. Hopefully a good manager will get in the store and change things around. read more

I was initially excited about this store opening in wake forest but after several visits where I had to leave empty handed, I'm no longer excited. It is a smaller store than most and it rarely has what I'm looking for. I will be driving into raleigh from now on where there are multiple craft stores to choose from, including a full size michaels. Michael's has never been my favorite anyway, but for the sake convenience, I was willing to shop there. read more
