I was visiting ATL for the weekend and wanted to visit some yarn stores so the Craftivist came up in my research. I saw that they host events for people to come in and work on their fiber arts a few times a week so this sold me on visiting! When I stopped in, I was greeted and there was space for me to sit down. I even got some help on my project. It was so nice to be community with people who love the fiber arts for a little while. I look forward to supporting their business since they also ship!

I recently had a private knitting lesson here…read more The instructor begin with telling me the different types of forms yarn comes in, ie. hanks, skeins and balls along with other information about knitting. After the introduction the instructor picked out a wood circular knitting needle for me. The reason for choosing the wood I was told it would help hold the yarn better for a beginner versus a metal needle. When it came time to choose the yarn I was told to make my choice from a small area. I picked a mustard yarn. The next day I received an invoice from the store because I didn't pay for the items. Silly me. I assumed because I was only allowed to pick out from a certain section that it was included with the lesson that I had paid for. Unfortunately, because the yarn I chose was quite small. It has been difficult as a beginner working with it. There have been a lot of starts and stops which I would expect but more so because of the size of the yarn. I have since learned as a beginner I should have a bulkier yarn. When I left that day, I had not gotten the hang of the cast on, or the knit stitch. Five minutes before the class was to end we had just finished casting on and that didn't leave much time for the knitting since the store was opening. Since taking the class I have been able to get the hang of the cast on and the knit stitch thanks to Sheep and Stitch on YouTube. I think the reason I didn't get the hang of it in the store was because of the teaching style. It just didn't mesh with my learning style. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone here. Very professional staff. Because the yarn I ended up purchasing isn't good for beginners. I did call the store to see if I could exchange it, but I was told they would not accept it because it had already been wound. The staff was very nice. They were very helpful when customers came in.

I can now knit sweaters with confidence, and they are always there to help me if I mess up. The yarns are best. So much to choose from: Cashmere, alpaca, superwash wool, camel, and cotton and silk for knitting in the summertime -- just to mention a few! So much to choose from. And if I want to knit a furry critter or a doll for a child, the have good quality yarn at a more affordable pricepoint (luxury yarn v. budget). Plus I can count on them to always have the needle size I need to start my project -- not to mention beautiful project bags, tools needed for your project, notions, etc. And for at least the last year, they have expert CROCHET classes! Yes, I did say crochet because it seems like it's the new "in" thing to do! I did take a lesson from their crochet instructor and it was truly a lot of fun! This is by far the best yarn boutique in Georgia! P.S. They have an online shop as well! Something for everyone.

Upon entering, I was greeted by the taller Amanda with longer blonde hair (there were two, and both were nice). Amanda immediately made me comfortable and walked me step by step through the mini project. I never had the 'deer in the headlights' moment when I couldn't find any help when I needed it. She explained what would happen had this been a start from scratch experience as we had a slightly expedited process. While waiting for our paint to dry, I lollygagged around the store. There is a huge calendar wall showing what classes they're offering on certain days. A few I took note of was ladies night out and a mom's morning out. They also sell T-shirt's, candles, jewelry, and even pre-made signs. Whenever my family comes in to visit, this will definitely be on our to-do list. I look forward to our next DIY.

It developed into other entities after the Etsy store. 6 years later they had enough customers and business to open a brick and mortar store. Their vision was to create a DIY and therapeutic atmosphere. They now have over 100 locations across the United States for anyone that wants to experience DIY arts and crafts. The DIY culture has been booming over the years and this was perfect business for these two. The Evans, Georgia store is owned and operated by the mother and daughter duo of Anita Barr and Brandi Collins. They are native of the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. This Evans location has been open since July and doing well. I'm never on this side of town so I wouldn't have even known this place existed until I was invited to an exclusive event here. This place was extremely easy to find, even though it was many miles from my house. It's in a perfect location and it's in a nice area of this side of town. Everything about this place is amazing!!! I love the fact that whatever you want you can do it all by yourself. It was so calming and relaxing. The owner and employees are so friendly and very helpful. I received most of my help by both Amanda's. I had a few mishaps but they both quickly ran over to correct any mistake I had. To experience this you have to pre-register for each class. They have something for the whole family to do. They have classes many days of the week. You can make almost anything involving planks of wood, cloth, and many more mediums. After this experience how can any who visits this place cannot come back and experience it again?!? This place is SO AMAZING!!! I'm in my zone whenever I'm doing something creative or working with my hands!!! I forget my worries and troubles that I'm currently facing. I can't wait for my next DIY project here!!!!
