I walked up to the shortest line and the cashier (Asian lady) informed me (Black lady) she could not check me out because she was pulling from the back of the line. No problem, I proceeded to wait in line. Other customers new to the check out line were also walking up to her register for check out not knowing the unique process. Immediately after me, she decided to ring up a (White lady) who did not have to wait in line AT ALL! Granted she only had one item, so did I. Hobby Lobby already has a BAD rapport with racism but this was the final straw. I did not feel valued as a customer or respected as a person. As someone who crafts and decorates for a living, I vow to never shop Hobby Lobby again. I will refer my clients, friends and family to shop elsewhere as well.

I've never seriously collected coins but, since I was a kid have put together an informal collection. However, over the last few years, I've sold some and bought no new ones. As I entered the small store I was immediately hit with a buzz of goings-on. There were three older men behind the counters talking with customers as well as a lady and two other gentlemen. The place felt alive. I've been in a few coin shops in my life but, they are never busy like this, so I found it stimulating. I briefly browsed around the perimeter before turning my attention to the main display cases holding the coin inventory. I walked up to a display case and looked down at the coins there. To my amazement, the first coin that caught my gaze was dated 1838! OMG! This Is where I digress to fill in the blanks. The reason I had come to Marietta Georgia was in search of a wiff of ancestral essence from the early 1800s when my family came here. I had found out that my great grandfather Xs 3 had been elected the 4th Sheriff in 1838. Hence my astonishment when the first coin I glanced at was 1838! Of course, I bought it. I can take a hint from the universe and this was just over the top synchronistic... The shop owner was very friendly and professional and even helped me out by directing me to some other resources regarding my family. I would say If you are in town and collect coins you certainly want to stop in here. Go!

I recently had a private knitting lesson here…read more The instructor begin with telling me the different types of forms yarn comes in, ie. hanks, skeins and balls along with other information about knitting. After the introduction the instructor picked out a wood circular knitting needle for me. The reason for choosing the wood I was told it would help hold the yarn better for a beginner versus a metal needle. When it came time to choose the yarn I was told to make my choice from a small area. I picked a mustard yarn. The next day I received an invoice from the store because I didn't pay for the items. Silly me. I assumed because I was only allowed to pick out from a certain section that it was included with the lesson that I had paid for. Unfortunately, because the yarn I chose was quite small. It has been difficult as a beginner working with it. There have been a lot of starts and stops which I would expect but more so because of the size of the yarn. I have since learned as a beginner I should have a bulkier yarn. When I left that day, I had not gotten the hang of the cast on, or the knit stitch. Five minutes before the class was to end we had just finished casting on and that didn't leave much time for the knitting since the store was opening. Since taking the class I have been able to get the hang of the cast on and the knit stitch thanks to Sheep and Stitch on YouTube. I think the reason I didn't get the hang of it in the store was because of the teaching style. It just didn't mesh with my learning style. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone here. Very professional staff. Because the yarn I ended up purchasing isn't good for beginners. I did call the store to see if I could exchange it, but I was told they would not accept it because it had already been wound. The staff was very nice. They were very helpful when customers came in.
