    Stunning Malabrigo yarn!
    Lisa H.

"We want to make the world a better place through crafting and inspire others to do the same." A shop's mission statement I can get behind! The Craftivist is a local yarn store (LYS) located a brief stroll from Krog Street Market. It's next door to Revolution Doughnuts, with the Kadampa Meditation Center on the other side. Free street parking is available along Edgewood Avenue. I am all for online ordering, but there's nothing like going to an actual store to look at what you're buying. With yarn, colors and textures are so critical, and we all know how computer monitors and digital photographs can unintentionally misrepresent shades and hues. The Craftivist seems to perhaps sell fewer yarns than this other LYS I occasionally frequent. But it's less cluttered and ancient-feeling and much brighter and modern. I blissed out touching and admiring all the gorgeous dazzling and soft yarns. And in case you're wondering, the prices seemed comparable to what you'd order online. Though it was tempting to buy up the whole store, I bought some yarn in hanks, and the woman working kindly offered to wind them into balls free of charge. Excellent. And also excellent, The Craftivist hosts numerous crafting hours and knitting classes that sound cool. Regarding the name The Craftivist (from the website): "We are inspired by craftivism, a term coined by Betsy Greer in 2002, connecting the terms craft and activism. We believe anyone can be a craftivist."

Beautiful selection of Malabrigo yarn and great needles.

Love, love, love this shop. Browsing the colorful shelves brings me such joy. This shop is clearly a labor of love, with a beautifully curated product selection. Vincent has helped a number of times with my purchases at Craftivist. He was extremely patient and kind with a toilsome winding task on some yarn he helped me select. He's a great source of knowledge and a delightful human. Grateful for the savvy safe shopping/private shopper appointment policies as well.

Especially as I'm gravitating toward more natural yarn types. It's a small, cozy, and intimate with a lot of variety of yarn. I like that they have a lot of natural yarns there. There's a pretty big range of prices for the variation of the yarn. You can find a lot of your crochet and knitting needs there from cute accessories, useful devices like the winding machine, hooks, etc. They also have classes you can sign up for.

Yarn is a magnet for me, so I tend to look for yarn stores, yarn deals and specialty stores. This particular yarn studio popped up on my google maps when I was looking for yarn for a prayer shawl. So I drove 30 minutes there and found some great deals on dyed yarns of cotton and wool varieties. Turns out they offer crochet and knitting classes too. The 2 store owners were very welcoming and gracious in their attentions. I was given personal service and made to feel special. I ended up with Japanese brand yarn - noro that I previously could not afford. It was a wonderful experience. I was told they vary yarns from 4 different individual dye artists.

Located at the Krog Street Market, the interior aesthetic reads industrial storehouse meets white-washed farm living room. Exposed high ceilings painted black with spotlights, hanging 60s style vintage lamps, a lacquered wooden canoe suspended mid-air and a large lightbulb arrow sign add a quirky vibe. Products include kitchen gadgets and serving ware (hand towels, plates, bowls, measuring cups, cocktail accessories, glasses, handsoap), books (travel, art, history, food/recipe, coffee table), Georgia-related souvenirs and packaged food gifts (candies and chocolate, cookies, puzzles, etc), gifting paper (like cards, gift wrap, gift bags), candles and home decor items (wall art, prints, bookends), and some seasonal holiday items that fall into above categories. They carry Lucia candles which are one of my favorite candle makers in terms of elegant home fragrances, though I only saw their seasonal fir/evergreen scent which unfortunately wasn't a love. Price range falls into the higher end so not an everyday shopping kinda place, though I'd recommend for an occasional treat or place to buy a nice souvenir. Staff seemed helpful and able to provide recommendations. Parking is available street side in the neighborhood.
