The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful! I had the pleasure of unexpectedly meeting and speaking with John Fogarty, Burton Parish Church Comptroller, who readily gave me some insight on some of the items displayed in the museum and made me excited to visit their Church too. You are sure to find something unique in this store and the profits are used to do great work for communities. YES!!! With that in mind I figured I would finally make the big one block walk down to the gift shop to see what they've got shakin'. The scene would best be described as part hospital gift shop meets a Hallmark store for the 70 and over crowd. So many little trinkets and nick-knacks everywhere. Also noteworthy is that while the shop has an excellent mission, the prices here are very steep. Deals you will not find and some of the clothing that they're selling has never been seen in public since the Golden Girls was cancelled. Dorthy Zbornak would have had a field day in here. In the back of the building is a small chapel which is very respectfully laid out even if it was odd walking by tables of "discounted" Christmas things right by the entrance. I bought my obligatory Bruton Parish fridge magnet ($7!) and had a nice talk with the one volunteer at the register about the current organ project and a few rumored things happening in the near future. She was really a great ambassador for their brand and truly showed that this is a living-breathing-vibrant Episcopal church. I'm not really a retail person so I doubt I'll be back but if you are into trinkets or curiosities then this place might be for you and at the least it's worth the short trip away from the CW buildings on DOG Street.

The woman patiently showed me mats in a variety of colors and made suggestions on the matting and framing. I picked up my framed picture today and couldn't be happier with it. This was a great find in downtown Williamsburg. We went there because they were open a little later…read morethan most specialty shops (7 PM) and they featured some very interesting and artistic decorative pottery and ceramic pieces. However, what really stole the show were the treats. The Turkish Coffee was superb. It was authentically made via the sand method. I got the Ottoman which had milk added with touches of cinnamon and cardamom. It was a wonderfully flavorful concoction. We also got Turkish Delight and Baklava to take away. The Delight lived up to its name, especially the chocolate brownie variety. It was an exceedingly delicious treat. The baklava were also terrific as they were loaded with honey. To top things off, the proprietor was one of the nicest and most engaging people you'd ever want to meet. He is originally from Istanbul. I enjoyed my conversation with him since that is a city which I highlight amongst the ones I have been privileged to visit. It was a lovely visit to this delightful shop and we hope to return in the future when the chance arises.

The store is small but perfectly sized for an artist needs. The prices are great, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It's obvious they care about their customers. A student was in the store to buy supplies for an art class and the staff suggested she wait to buy a few things so she wouldn't waste her money. He knew the local art teachers and was familiar with their supply list. The owner shared a few stories and jokes while helping me decide on a mix for my oil paint. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and grateful for ny business. I will make this my first stop shop for art supplies whenever possible due to the great service and fair prices.
