I took shredding materials in bags to Office Max recently (~200 lbs). I learned the following-- 1) .99 a pound, but beats trying to shred it yourself. 2) Ask for a military discount (20%) off total (if eligible). 3) Call ahead, the bins fill up and they will not take additional shredding materials until their bins (large sealed trash cans w/lock) are emptied. They empty a couple times a week. 4) If bins need to be moved around to help materials settle ask folks behind counter to assist. Overall it was a positive experience, staff was helpful and I would make the same choice again. read more

I actually placed an online order right before Christmas. I opted to try their curbside pick up since that was an option... Within an hour I got the text that it was ready. I clicked that I was there once I had arrived. They don't have curbside parking.. literally I saw the lady come out (all I ordered was a certain type of paper). I told her my name and never got out... never parked. It was basically immediate! There was someone in front of me loading a big item that maybe did curbside as well. I am impressed. Came into this Office Max, with an emotional request. My Uncle passed away, and the programs for his funeral service were lacking that special touch. I got the idea to make a photo collage as an insert for the programs so that everyone could have pictures to take with them. Stacy, the employee in the printing area, was soooo helpful as I came in. Its 8am, the store just opened and i needed 75 of these inserts asap. She helped me with picking photos, adjusting the sizes, picking the paper and got the job completed all in less than 30 mins. I can't say enough about how thankful i am. She truly saved the day. read more

yes was crazy trying to find supplies for in home school! best buy seemed to be no help . the people i had to deal with at office max where highly knowledgeable and saved me $25 on an item. Paul helped me with setting up my laptop to a dual screen and was also very courteous. Jordan walked me around the store trying to find me a last minute table/desk out of the 9 stores i called and went to i literally was able to get everything i needed from office max. thankyou read more

I returned the following day. Here were the problems with their binding and the solutions offered. 1- Torn plastic cover : The guy behind the counter told me that nothing could be done- that my book was too fat, so the outside plastic was going to not last. Solution: nothing. 2- Uneven page insertion: Also, the person who bound my book yesterday inserted my pages unevenly, and nothing could be done to correct that either since she had already cut far into my pages, and further cutting would lead to destruction of the handwritten notes. Solution: nothing. I spoke to a friend of mine later that evening and she brought up two good points: 1- He should have fixed the plastic anyway! It doesn't matter what happened, .. less than 24 hrs and the plastic is torn? Not professional. 2- He could have offered to photocopy those pages that were inserted unevenly and then put those pages inside the book and rebounded it. I did not think of that but i think it would have been a decent solution-- that way he would not have to cut further into my original pages, and i would not have lost my notes. If my friend, who is a med student, not a "office max technician", could come up with a reasonable solution, their techs most certainly could have. He was just very apathetic. Barely apologetic, and basically asked me " well, ma'am, what do u want me to do? would u like a refund? .." Yes, i was going to get a refund, but honestly, i was completely unhappy with the service. He did suggest other places i could go do that may do a better job that office max. But i was completely unhappy with the way he handled me as a customer. It's an office supply store - hard to find in town apparently since most folks buy this stuff on the internet now I guess. I needed a heavy duty binder and page protectors to spiff up my family recipe book. They had everything I needed at reasonable prices - though there were not a whole lot of choices for colors of the binders over the 3" variety (which is what I needed). I was so compelled to write this review! I visited this Office Max in Newport News, Va on Friday August 19,2022 in a frantic state needing to print obituaries for my dads funeral that was the next day. I had just drove in from NY. I was greeted by Dakota who was so calm and yet reassuring at the same time. He guaranteed me that the job would be complete before he left his shift and honestly, I don't even think it was a full hour before he called me saying it was finished. Dakota is a gem!!! During this weekend. There was a wonderful ad that composition notebooks are $0.10 each. Prior to the merge, office depot would allow teachers such as myself to get as many school supplies as necessary for students. But now, it a complete farse. Poor manager stated that he could over-ride the check out computers from allowing my purchase of 40+ composition notebooks. I used to love this place as teacher friendly; now it is another company that thanks educators everywhere to spend more of their hard earned cash for their students without so much as an educator discount. I am only adding another star because of the managers understanding of my requests. read more
