I had to get in some cajon food in this town…read more this restaurant is very close to my hotel and I have been eyeing it ever since I got here. finally, checked it out a couple days ago. i order the catfish gumbo which comes with 2 sides. I got beans with rice and the veggie of the day, also got a shiner bock beer for 5 bucks. total with tip was ~33 i think i gave 5bucks tip the fish gumbo was really good. i also really like the beans with rice. it has a slightly different flavor profile but also very good. i think this place is a hidden gem.... good portions, decent price, and easy parking, had to figure out another P for a triple P. i think this was better than when I got rip off on bourbon street, yrs back. that was straight up super expensive double charge the tourist stuff...

We tried to go to happy hour with my partner's parents, but that was only available in the bar area. Given they have some health problems to consider, we could not move over and hover over teeny tables to have dinner so had to handle full price. At full price, I'd give it a solid 3.5. Bumped to a 4 because this is hard to find around here. We got: - shrimp yoli (if you only order one dish, get one with this SAUCE. It's to die for. The shrimp had too much seasoning that it was a little choke worthy and I NEVER complain about flavor. Just lighten up a little!) - escargot (the butter was broken.. so it was kinda rough) -catfish gumbo (solid portion) -redfish add lump crab (while we enjoyed this, it was pricy for what it was) -shrimp and crawfish pasta (good) -orange crème brûlée (light.. not my fav crème brûlée ever but fun to try) - chocolate cake brownie with ice cream

I know last time I got the clam chowder but hey, it was 102° outside! One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the cleanliness of the restaurant. It's wasn't too busy but the music was on the loud side. Maybe a touch lower please? The burrito was really nice. I thought that maybe my Mahi Mahi would be a little thicker? The fish seemed slim in comparison to the whole of the "Maines" entree. Jalapeño slices accompanied for some pizzazz. The sauce was flavorful and left no shortage of drips. I chose the side of fries. Perfectly made and absolutely screams fresh cut & fried. There's only one problem with them. They tasted fishy. That's because they fry them in the same fryer as the fish is fried. Not my kind of expectation with perfectly golden crisps. I would advise using a stand alone fryer for potatoes only please. Knox my server was very kind and hospitable & we enjoyed talking about the best hot sauce in the world which is found here, Belize's Marie Sharp's. That's a real winner to accompany your meal. Garbo's is classy but to get lobster which is what they're known for, you're going to have to pay for it. It was unfortunately a higher ticket item than I was willing to go for. Definitely improved in value from last time, thank you Garbo's. It's a nice place to dine & I hope to continue getting a superb value when I'm able to visit there again.

The dining room is well decorated with sea…read morestyle environment, fishes, ocean water, crustaceans, etc... the restaurant was busy so all the food we got was delayed. Server was nice to share how backed up the restaurant was. I ordered the fried shrimp with flounder combo. I love how the fries have that beer batter exterior so it's extra crispy. The shrimp was great plum and juicy. I felt like the batter was a little too thick and the batter didn't have any flavor in it. The flounder was good, but the fish was dry. I wish for the price point. The fish was a little thick thicker in meat. It was slightly sweet white meat so that was good. The chicken wings honestly are really good. I was surprised how crispy and juicy the wings were. I love the Cajun flavor along with the lemon pepper. You can really taste both seasonings. They have the chicken wing fried game down very surprised how good the wings were, crispy skin and juicy white meat. The oysters were great, big sized oysters, no sand or shell chips. Nice sweet flavors from the oyster meat. Clean tasting, a little briny, good seafood taste. Alll the side dipping sauces were good, cocktail, ranch, etc. beers were good too. Reasonably priced.

I walked into Surfing Crab hoping for one of those unapologetically messy seafood boils -- the kind…read morewhere you're tying your hair back, rolling up your sleeves, and mentally preparing to smell like garlic butter for the rest of the day. Sadly... this wasn't that experience. I ordered the boil with a pound of crab, head‑on shrimp, squid, corn, and those thin little sausage slices you see at most Cajun spots. The seasoning landed squarely in the middle -- not offensive, not impressive, just sitting there like it was waiting for someone to give it direction. I asked for hot, but what I got tasted more like a medium that didn't want to commit. And the shrimp? Head‑on and not deveined. That gave them a gamy, muddy undertone that took away from the whole boil. At this price point, deveining shouldn't be a luxury add‑on. We also tried the appetizer sampler -- calamari, egg rolls, cheese sticks -- and everything tasted suspiciously similar, like it all took the same little swim in the same fryer without a break. Nothing was terrible, but nothing had personality. These were the kind of appetizers you can find anywhere, and not the kind you remember later. My partner ordered the shrimp po'boy, and while the portion was generous, the breading overwhelmed the shrimp. He ended up peeling most of it off just to get to the actual protein. When the breading becomes the main character, that's a sign the dish needs editing. Now, the mixed drinks? Those were actually good -- balanced, not overly sweet, and honestly the highlight of the meal. And I have to give credit where it's due: our waitress was attentive, friendly, and checked on us consistently without hovering. She did everything right. The food just didn't match her level of service. And look... I'm not trying to be dramatic, but I've had better crab at HEB during crawfish season for a fraction of the price. When your grocery‑store boil is hitting harder than the restaurant version, that's saying something. Overall, Surfing Crab wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't memorable either. For the price and the concept, I expected more depth, more spice, and more care in the prep. This one's a pass for me -- especially when I know I can get fresher, better‑seasoned seafood elsewhere without the premium price tag.

I found this place on TikTok and looked up the location and we just drove straight to it. When we arrived I was confused because I expected a restaurant, but instead a food truck. Was I a little skeptical? Of course, I couldn't lie. Regardless, the reviews were great and their food looked amazing on TikTok. I ordered a #3, which came with 1/2 crab, 10 shrimp, 1 sausage, 1 egg, and 1 corn for $30. The seasoning I added was "lil kick" and Chili Limón. When we got back to our hotel, the food was still warm and I cannot say this enough... it was amazing. Absolutely 10/10. The crab was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was perfect. The shrimp came out so smooth and the potatoes were BOMB. I wish I took a picture before eating it all!

I've had a lot of different lobsters over the years and this is the first one that I was not able to even cut a piece off or chew it. It was so overcooked. The Lobster was beautiful, it was such a shame. Would've gave a five star rating if I could've ate the lobster plus it was really expensive and we only have one egg and one corn so who gets to eat it??? No for real who? lol
