WARNING: This office had poor hygiene practices, a VERY dismissive Dr., & I'd read this review…read morecarefully before deciding whether to see this physician or go to this office. I had a deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Zohn & I feel compelled to share it. I don't care how experienced he is or that he's about 80; although I wish I had known that before my visit, as frankly, at his age, if he can't treat patients with the care they deserve, maybe it's time to retire!! I'm a cancer patient & came in for a follow-up after a procedure. After waiting about 30 minutes, I politely asked if the staff could wash their hands before examining me. Instead of addressing my concern, Dr. Zohn LITERALLY walked out & sent a staff member to place cotton in my mouth. After she finished, she said I was done & could leave. I was stunned. And not in a good way. I asked if Dr. Zohn could come back & examine my tooth? After all, that is why I went to the trouble of going to his office for my visit, & I still had concerns & have some discomfort. The young gal staff member incredulously goes next-door & in ear-shot, says that I "insist" on him seeing me. First of all, I never used those words! 2nd of all to say I "insist on a doctor seeing me" is kind of a farce, given that's the whole point of my appt! I went for a follow-up. Why should I have to even ask that the dr look at my teeth?! Geesh. Reality really is more absurd than fiction. It gets worse. He makes me wait about another hr, & I didn't leave his office for about 11/2 hrs. Meanwhile, a mom in the wait area explains how he convinced her daughter to undergo a 2nd procedure while I was left waiting. His prioritization of other patients over my needs felt EXTREMELY dismissive. Finally, Dr. Zohn came out & asked, "What can I do for you?" despite this being my follow-up appt. I wanted him to assess how my mouth was healing, but he seemed oblivious, suggesting I should come back in a month for a follow-up, but this WAS my one month follow-up!! I gently explained this (at this point I should've gotten an award for having the patience of a saint!) so when he finally did come back he touched my tooth for a millisecond, & if he spent 20 seconds with me, up to a full minute, there's no reason he couldn't do so prior to his surgeries. FYI, I did have a 2 PM appt. So why should I have to wait for over an hr to an hour & a half?! Oh, yeah, surgeries bring $'s Worse, I don't believe he even changed his gloves from the previous procedure before briefly touching my tooth & declaring it fine. I know this because he came out of the operating room w the gloves on, had no inclination or thought that he was going to bring me back to another exam room, until I asked him to do so, & even suggested I come back in another month. So he reluctantly went back with me to the exam room & I strongly believe he still had the same gloves on, & this after I already explained how I had cancer & hoped he would take safeguards like washing hands before touching me!! Being dismissive is bad enough. Making me wait an hour & a half is another thing. But if you don't change your gloves and/or wash hands between patients, ANY patient, but especially one with an immuno-compromised system, this is a Dr who should no longer be practicing medicine, regardless of lifetime skill!!! That is just negligence. I don't know the legal definition but generally speaking, it is negligent behavior. I don't know the skill of any of his colleague physicians, but this reflects badly on the whole office. I even suggested to the office manager that if Dr. Zohn not comfortable with follow-ups, maybe he should ask one of his colleagues to do that on his behalf. She said that the physicians don't do that. OK. Well this doctor didn't do his due diligence; hence posting this review warning others. Again, he may be skilled. I will acknowledge that my pain level has decreased significantly since the procedure but in itself, that is insufficient. I needed this person to treat me like a human, and actually check on my mouth in a timely and good & hygienic manner. It's great that he was using Hebrew/Yiddish terms with who I believe to be his Orthodox patient. I too am Jewish, so I almost felt like I should say that to him because they were getting absolute preferred treatment. (I am not Orthodox, however). But all patients should be treated the same regardless of their religious proclivities. As a patient who had kept every appt, paid on time, in full, and even brought him a thank-you gift, I expected better treatment. The lack of awareness regarding hygiene protocols in this day and age is EXTREMELY alarming, especially with viruses circulating. Overall, the care I received was unacceptable. The way a physician treats their patients matters, and dismissiveness can overshadow even the best skills. I hope my experience can save someone else from a similar fate. If you're considering this office, proceed with caution

At the end, he didn't actually check the bite (using a tap) after he put in the temporary filling, just eyeballed it. This was checked the next day and adjusted when I went to a different office because I was in a lot of pain. I wasn't given the brochure on the aftercare - again got it the next day from a different office. Wasn't even told not to eat or drink until the numbness was gone - was just told not to chew anything hard on that side of my mouth while he was finishing up as he seemed in a hurry to get done. Overall I would not recommend the Garden City office as didn't find anyone there particularly caring. And definitely wouldn't recommend Dr Ju. I was treated much better by the on call doctor from a different office when I called for help because I was in so much pain (was given an antibiotic) and by still another office when I went there the next day.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Ashish Sahasra with superb and conscientious technical precision that resulted in a successful root canal. The procedure was thorough and not rushed. Dr. Sahasra is clearly experienced and is very warm, reassuring and down to earth. He thoroughly, confidently and kindly took all the time necessary to explain my procedure. I could not have had a more professional experience. The entire office staff and the dental assistants are friendly, thorough and kindly assisted me with my referral. My appointment was right on time with no wait. This why so many dentists refer their patients to Premier Endodontics. They also have numerous convenient locations. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with this endodontics group if you need a root canal. Highly recommended.

My recent experience at this dental office was deeply disappointing, unprofessional, and, quite…read morefrankly, concerning. Midway through my procedure, while I was already in the chair and unable to object, I was suddenly told there would be an additional $400 charge because the dentist "found another post." This was particularly frustrating and suspicious because I had already paid $200 for a 3D scan -- a scan that, by its advanced nature, is supposed to show these exact details before the procedure begins. It felt like I was being upcharged for something that should have been detected and disclosed in advance. When I calmly pointed out that this felt like a scam and was ethically questionable, I was met with immediate hostility from the office manager, Linda. Instead of engaging in a professional dialogue, she became defensive, removed the $400 charge, and then had the audacity to tell me, "You should just be thanking us that we took it off," as though I owed them gratitude for not being overcharged for something I never agreed to in the first place. Later, when I attempted to call and speak to her respectfully, she cut me off and snapped, "Don't call me love," in an unnecessarily aggressive and disrespectful tone. Her overall behavior was unprofessional and dismissive -- especially considering I was trying to resolve a legitimate concern about transparency and billing. What stood out even more was her attitude when I said I would be writing a review about my experience. She brushed it off and essentially said, "Go right ahead," making it clear she had no interest in accountability or improving patient care. On top of all this, I had the same procedure done a year and a half ago at a different dental office and only paid $300 with insurance. The discrepancy in price, coupled with the surprise charges and aggressive attitude, raises serious red flags about this office's billing practices and ethical standards. To be completely honest, I couldn't help but feel that Linda was especially dismissive because I'm a Black patient who dared to speak up and question what was happening. I didn't come in yelling or disrespectful -- I came in informed and concerned, and I was treated with contempt for it. Patients deserve honest communication, ethical billing, and to be treated with respect -- regardless of their race or background. I will not be returning, and I hope others take note before trusting this office with their care.
