I believe but don't know for certain that she was just getting her business started. Fast forward 3 years.....and boy did things change! I really liked Mel and trusted her with all my fur babies. I contacted her, as usual, by text to request her services while I was going to be out of town. She didn't respond. I contacted again and she responded she couldn't do the first week but was available for the second. Then as I was preparing for my trip I received a text saying her health wasn't good and she couldn't sit for me any longer. Which I completely understood so I asked that she return my key. No response. Second text, same request, no response. My husband pitched in by going into work later, coming home for an hour mid day and leaving work early so I could take my trip as planned. When I got home I once again request my key be returned and that she please respond. Told her I was uncomfortable with my key being out there since she no longer worked for us. She took offense, assured me it was safe and if I wanted it back, there was a $5 charge! What? I said I would pick it up or meet her somewhere in town. She said the best she could do was send it USPS COD. I said fine. I received that notice today at a cost of $17.66. I can't even understand any of this! Long story short, I have paid to re-key my locks and am refusing the COD. I'm writing this review not out of spite but so other people considering using this business are aware of my experience and can proceed accordingly.

Most of the ones we have visited look like doggy prison, but not this one. At other shelters, all the dogs are in the same room and the barking gets so unbearable that you just want to leave. That's not how it is at the Snake River Animal Shelter. They have two separate rooms for the adult dogs, so even if most of the dogs are barking, there aren't enough that you get a migraine. What makes this place really stand out to me is that they have a room set up like a family's living room in which you can sit down, take the dog off the leash, and get to know it. The entire shelter feels very homey and I cannot say enough great things about the staff and volunteers there. UPDATE: It has been two weeks since we adopted our dog, and we just got a call from the shelter to see how things are going! We thought that was really nice that they are still concerned about our experience and how the dog is doing. As I said, the staff is amazing.

I went to the facilities for a tour. When I was there I noticed the dogs were sad looking and…read morenervous. They were laying on cement without even a mat or toys to keep them company. I didn't see any staff interacting with them and didn't even seem excited to be there. Prices were high and so were the add on prices. I wasn't impressed in the least. I found a much better place to leave my precious fur babies with where the staff was happy to be there and lots more for the dogs to do and the prices were more in line. Every time we arrive at our boarding facility our dogs are so happy to be there they sometimes even forget to say bye to us. They take the dogs on walks to the park, down by the greenbelt, and have so many more service options and discounts for multiple pups staying together. Please don't go to Ameripet in Idaho Falls Idaho.

I was having a very hard time with training because Harriet was quite aggressive towards me. I didn't think that I wanted to keep her because I was afraid of what she would be like at 1 year, dangerous. After an initial meeting with Mistie she told me a lot about Harriet's personality and why Harriet was acting the way she was. With Mistie's Basic Training package Harriet made HUGE improvements.
